Thor

Sezy and I stuffed our faces with enough desserts to alert anyone who happens to see us.

We acted like two males who've never had a dessert in their entire life, talking more of seeing one.

The only admirable thing about this is no one paid any heed to us. They were all lost in the worlds, either conversing or dancing with their partners.

"We are soul mates." Sezy smiled brightly, "can we exchange numbers?" He brought out his mobile phone.

"Uh…" I nervously scratch my hair as I thought about the best lie to feed him with, as there's no way on earth I am going to tell him I had no mobile. It won't look good on me at all.

"I forgot to bring my mobile when coming." I smile nervously, "and another problem is this, I don't have my number offhand. I've never gotten to that yet."

"I see." He pockets his phone, "We can exchange numbers when next we meet."

"That's superb!" I exclaimed as I expertly covered up the nervousness I feel.

We danced and had a drink before I decided to call it a night. "Bye Sezy. We'll meet next week." I smile at him.

"You know, today was great and all that, but I was hoping we'll get a glimpse of the owner of this mansion. Truth be told, that was one of the reasons why I came here."

Hearing him talk of the owner of this mansion made me recall the creepy man we met last week.

"You said it yourself that he doesn't come here."

I don't know why, but I also felt sad at the prospect he didn't come here today. In some ways, I was also hoping he'll make an appearance.

"I thought he might do so for your sake," Sezy pouts a bit.

"For my sake?" I laugh at his words. "You're funny, you know that?"

"Why?"

"Why will he come here for someone he doesn't know?"

"And who said he doesn't know you?"

"I'll see you next week. You can continue with your dance." I discreetly point at a male who's been watching Sezy ever since we came in here, "it seems that male's has gotten a liking for you." I urge him towards the male, "you can go ahead to him, and have a great night." Mock bowing, I leave the party behind.

I opened the door and stepped out. In my hurry, I wasn't paying attention to my steps, so I slipped.

Shouting in fear as my mind made me aware of the collision that's likely to happen any moment from now, I close my eyes, preparing for the fall.

Screaming like a banshee, I fell on..... a soft floor?

Slowly, I open my eyes, and that was when I noticed I was still suspended mid-air, and a strong arm was holding on to me.

"You need to work on your clumsiness." The owner of the hands that stopped my collision with the floor spoke up. His voice washed over me like a caress.

"Sorry." Blushing in embarrassment, I stood on my feet, "thanks for saving…." Looking up, my words got stuck in my throat when I saw who it was that helped me.

Standing in front of me is the same male who saved me from my fall last week. The said owner of the mansion.

"You're welcome." He chuckled to himself, as if sharing a secret only he is aware of.

His chuckle made me sigh. The sound is more like music to the ears. It made me want to borrow into the sound, and spend all eternity there.

Snap out of it, Lee!

A voice admonished immediately.

"You're a married man, you are not entitled to think of other males that way."

The words from my mind caused me to snap out of whatever land his traitorous voice took me to.

Forcing a smile, I look up at him.

"If you won't mind, I'll be on my way now."

I need to be at home before Sly returns * if he does return.*

Last week, he returned late on Saturday with a frown as big as the world. Snapping at anyone who so much as looked his way.

He made it sound as if we're all in some ways the cause of his misfortune *Whatever that might be.*

"Why are you leaving so early? The party is yet to start."

"I…" I stopped myself from telling him I must be home at a particular time.

"I don't like staying out past my resting time," I lied through my teeth.

"What are you, a child?" He chuckled at the question.

"Are trying to shame me?" I frown at him. Narrowing my eyes at him, I darkly glare at him.

He might think he's entitled to talk anyhow he wants as he's the owner of this place, but that's.....

"Am not. The way you talked made it sound as if you're a child who needs t9 be home before curfew."

"That's not true. I'm only going home to sleep as I've had a long day," I yawn to emphasize more on my words more. "I need to go and rest my aching muscles."

"I see." He nods, "you're in the university, right?"

"No… Of course, I'm in the university." I smile brightly, "we had a project due next week, that was why we fought to complete it today. You don't want to piss the professor off."

"Most of them are a pain in the arse."

"You bet."

"So am Thor, and you might be…."

"Lys," I smile.

"Lys? That's a nice name. " Is it by chance a short form for your name, or a nickname?"

"None of the above." I check the time on my wristwatch. "I'll be on my way. Someone is probably waiting for me outside." I made to leave, but he held my hand in his as he stopped me from going towards the gate.

"Who's the person?" He asked in an indescribable voice.

"A cab driver." Removing my hand from his, I walk towards the gate.
