　　"What do you mean?" Vexon asked as if he didn't even know what I was talking about.

　　I glanced at Everley and took her in my arms from Vexon's arms. I made her lie on the bed and said, "Take some rest, Eve. Maya will bring you something to eat. She will help you change and treat your other wounds. A doctor will come to check up on you in the afternoon. Sleep till then, okay?"

　　Everley nodded her head while Vexon gave me a confused look.

　　"No need to do homework or go to school tomorrow. Rest at home as long as you need to. Your mental health comes. Also, play with Allison whenever you feel like. If you need anything, call Maya—" I was cut off by an impatient Vexon.

　　"Why are you telling all this to her right now as if you are not going to be around?" he interrupted.

　　"Because I won't be," I replied to him sharply and turned towards Everley, not even looking back at him for once. "Did you understand whatever I said?"
