Chapter 4

Lifting my head of the desk, i hear a loud ringing noise which reminds me of my step father. Oh no. What was the time? 3:00 pm. I'm supposed to make dinner for Shane. I'd better hurry if i don't want another bruised rib. I rushed out of the classroom and headed towards my locker where the dog, that i named Ash, was sleeping soundly. i lifted him up into my arms and quickly exited the school premises. I couldn't take the bus home because i didn't have a bus card. i ran home but before i could enter, i put the dog under my bedroom's window so i could bring him in from my window without anyone noticing. i was about to put my keys in the door when i noticed that the front door was already open. Curious, i pushed open the door a little wider. I stepped into the threshold and my my mouth opened slightly. The table was turned on it's side, chairs knocked all over the place, the kitchen cupboards were hanging on it's hinges, the rubbish bin was flung across the room with it's contents emptied, the door to the living room was torn down, the kitchen cutlery was all over the place, broken pieces of glass was littered on the ground. I didn't fail to see the blood that was splattered on the floor. i walked forward into the room, snapping the door shut behind me. Avoiding the pieces of glass, i walked towards the living room door but i stopped in my tracks when i heard the sound of voices.

"what did you do with the body?".

"we have already taken it to the vehicle, sir."

"Good. Bring the case". i heard some shuffling around.

"Well, our business here is done. We should get going, Leonardo's probably waiting".

I heard their footsteps coming toward the door and i panicked. They're going to kill me now, just like their previous victim. I stumbled backwards and fell. i felt a sharp prick on the palm of my hand and saw a piece of glass had lodged itself deep into my hand. But that wasn't the issue right now. Just as the door opened, revealing me to the strange men, i stood back up and ran out. But before i could get out, i heard one of them shout into an earpiece.

"Call the guards! There is an intruder and don't let her go!".

I ran out to the dog and grabbed it. I looked around behind me to see three men chasing me. I ran away toward the road and took a blind turn into an alleyway. Panicking, hid behind a trash bin, hoping they wouldn't see me. They came running in and one of them yelled at the others to split up. Two of them ran straight ahead whereas one of them started walking towards my hiding place. I squeezed my eyes shut and gripped Ash harder. Suddenly, i felt a hand grab my arm and drag me out. I let out a scream but it was stifled down since the man put a cloth to my mouth. I started thrashing around but my attempt was weak. i slowly started losing consciousness just as i felt him pick me up and all went dark.
