Chapter 44

Ferlio made a sudden move by turning around as if he was spinning, letting out a magical fire sword that flew straight towards Lucky targeting his left side of the chest.

Lucky hadn't expected such an attack. Nonetheless he wasn't afraid. Not in the least petrified also.

"Back to the sender!". He exclaimed causing the sword of fire to stop inches away from his chest and it turned immediately to attack it's sender, Ferlio.

Ferlio groaned in annoyance. This boy was no extraordinary druid. He needed to use a lethal weapon against him if he needed his star as soon as possible.

Having stopped the sword as well, Ferlio decided to add more force and energy upon the weapon. His mind and soul felt exhausted due to the much pressure he was putting in the sword.

It was not a physical weapon after all. The sword was a weapon made by the mind and strengthened by the soul. It was a dangerous weapon meant to kill one spiritually.

If he killed the boy spiritually, then the boy would be no more and he'd have the star for himself.

This was getting frustrating since it had been almost been an hour and he hadn't laid his claws on what he desired most.

What he felt for the boy wasn't just hate. It was more than that. Moreover, he didn't know how to describe that sour feeling he had stirring in him like a whirlwind for the youngster.

Lucky took in a deep breathe of relief. He was able to reverse the weapon because it wasn't strong enough. If Ferlio managed to strengthen it this time around, he would even die.

Either way, he had to stay alive so as to protect the star. If he died, the star would be in Ferlio's hands and that wouldn't be good.

The heat effects of the star could still be felt in his body though not as strong as they were before.

Ferlio span again, his wings put together at the front as if in a position of holding the fiery sword. He let out a groan out of struggle. His breathe coming in, in short fast audible breathes.

The flaming sword came flying Lucky's way, it suddenly multiplied into several other swords coming to attack him in all directions.

Lucky quickly built a protective bubble like shield through a spell so as to protect himself from the incoming danger.

Ferlio was pleased with himself. He was certain that Lucky would never get through this and his hopes of getting the star was renewed.

The swords hit the bubble causing Lucky to shiver a little before they bounced and came back to attack him. The protective bubble like shield acted like a tambourine for the swords but it wasn't for long before Ferlio suppressed more energy in them for them to force their way through Lucky's shield.

Lucky saw this and decided it was time he fought back instead of defending himself which used a lot of his energy.

With a deep breathe, he raised one of his hands (since the other was still holding the crossbow tube) towards the main flaming sword that hadn't gotten tired of targeting his chest but thanks to his shield, it hadn't gotten it's way.

Moreover, it was the strongest and if he was going to defend himself or fight back, he had to freeze it. It was one of the combat spells that he had been taught back in the druid school which he was supposed to use to freeze the target in place and prevent it from attacking him again.

He got rid of his protective bubble like shield immediately the swords bounced back and quickly made a wall of ice around him. The main sword which was faster than the rest was about to penetrate through his round wall of ice before it could completely close up but once it got it's tip close to his ice wall, it froze and broke into pieces falling down on the ground below which seemed to be such a great distance from where they were.

It's downfall caused the other swords to loose their momentum so they just disappeared into thin air.

Ferlio frowned. Again. Yet again, this boy had beaten him. He let out a breathe. He wasn't going to stop. He had started this war and he was going to end it once this kid was dead.

He span again, thinking of another fire spell he'd use against the boy who was now protected in ice. He couldn't see the boy thus making it hard for him since he knew that Lucky could see him.

'I'll break the ice cage first and attack him immediately before he can even act'. Ferlio thought.

Lucky looked down at the crossbow tube in his hand. What was the use of having this with him if he didn't have any idea of how to use it?.

"Your cunning ways are not in the very least any good!". The heavy voice spoke behind him.

A smile crept on his lips as he looked at the ground below before tilting his head to look at the man dressed in silky white shirt and pants with dragon wings on his back. And the white fluffy shoes on his feet. His shoulder length brown hair blew a little due to the present wind but other than the length of his hair and dressing code, nothing looked different or changed.

The man was heavy muscled, medium heightened and light tanned. However. he was also good looking but mischievous and not that friendly.

'He still puts on those ridiculous cloud shoes even after all these years?'. Jade Being thought to himself before fully turning to face the other man.

"Well I'm glad that my cunning ways brought you down from your den to meet me here then". Jade Being replied with a small smirk on his face.

"You've not changed".

"You also. Especially with those funny shoes of yours". Jade Being replied. His smirk widening as he eyed the man in front of him. "Great cloud fire dragon as they all call you".

"Are you taunting me?". Questioned the man, cloud fire dragon as he took a step forwards.

"No, no, no, not at all Steele. Why should I taunt you brother?". Jade Being questioned and huffed out a laugh.

"Don't call me that Hood. We are not brothers!". Steele, the dragon replied. His eyes narrowed at Jade Being.

Jade Being's smile disappeared, his warm demeanor vanished as if it hadn't been there from the beginning and now, it was replaced by his cold self.

"Five hundred years Steele. Five hundred years and you won't forgive me?". He asked.

"Why should I?. You killed my only student in the name of loop holing Ferlio the menace!". Steele replied. His words laced with bitterness and hatred.

"I did not kill the golden fiery red Phoenix. He died trying to save the world and we all know it". Jade Being protested.

Steele huffed, "I don't care. It was your suggestion at the first place!. You were never happy with me nor with what I did or had. You weren't happy that I had a student and you Hood, you plotted to have him killed".

"I did not kill him. He exhausted his energy and died". Hood defended himself, taking a step forwards though there was a good one meter between them.

"You and the council took part in his death. I'll never forgive you". Steele confessed with a slight shake of his head as he took a step back away from Hood.

"Ferlio is out!". Hood announced.

"So? What do you want me to do? Produce another golden fiery red Phoenix for you to use?". Steele spat. He didn't care anymore. All that he had worked for and loved were no more.

"The star of salvation is also out and he wants it". Hood added ignoring his brother's remark.

"That is none of my business!". Steele remarked wondering how the hell he had to be brothers with a nitwit like this. For goodness sake, he was a dragon while Hood wasn't.

"I dreamt for this day for so long brother. We have a lot of things to settle in the world can't we put our differences aside and work together on what we've always desired?". Hood asked earning a stern look from Steele.

"I know why you always train the golden fiery red Phoenixes. Because there's something you want from them. We are not perfect brother but we have the same desire". He paused and looked at his brother, their eyes meeting and holding for a while before Steele looked away into the far distant.

His heart beat violently behind his chest. He clenched and unclenched his fist while cracking his fingers.

Hood gave a lopsided smile. He had hit that spot in his brother's heart that he had been avoiding for so long to mess up with.

Hood took a step closer to his brother and breathed against his ear as if he wanted to whisper a secret to him.

"We both want to take vengeance on the gods". Hood whispered emphasizing the words 'vengeance' and 'gods' strongly than the rest of the sentence.

Steele's head turned quickly to face his brother that he was sure he felt something snap in his neck. Hood wore that same lopsided smile.
