Emmett was in his study room at home when Dhruv came to visit him with a big smile.
"What problem did you create this time?" Emmett right away asked.
"What do you mean by a problem? I don't create problems." Dhruv retorted with a pout.
To his answer, Emmett's lips only twitched with helplessness. History has their witness that Dhruv has proved his words wrong every single time. Whenever Dhruv is proud of himself, something bad happens.
Getting such a look from his friend, Dhruv couldn't find the right word to say again.
"Whatever."
Emmett ignored him and started checking out some projects. While doing their office work there was a peaceful environment between them.
"Your subordinates are not bad."
"Hmm. I selected them personally." Dhruv replied while hiding his proud smile. "Bro, do you think everything will go smoothly this time?"
"No." Emmett answered without a doubt.
"Bro! How can you say that!" Dhruv aggrievedly groaned.
"Well, it's you who is handling it. I can't guarantee it."
"Waah. So insensitive of you."
"What about the government project I asked you for?" Emmett asked.
"Huh?"
"Where are those?"
"They… Amm. They are gone."
"Dhruv?"
"Bro listen to me first!"
"Do you know how important it was for SI?"
"But before I could do anything it was gone."
"You can't even spare a few projects. Are you worthy of being called Morgan's Vice President?"
Dhruv pouted on his comment but didn't talk back.
He was wrong but he wasn't too. Those three projects were important to Emmett. Dhruv was asked to bring them to him without getting Morgan's name on them.
By the time he reached there, it was already acquired by someone. Even with his power, he couldn't claim it back.
"Go and find me another project within a week."
"Huh? How can I do it within a week? It's not one but three."
"If you can't, then I'll take away your projects."
"You! How can you be so insen-"
"Insensitive? I know. I am." Emmett completed his sentence.
"Wow, you-" 'ring ring' Before Dhruv could complete his words Emmett's phone rang.
Seeing the unknown number on his screen, Emmett instantly ignored it. The phone continuously rang until it stopped and started again. As the room was fully quiet, his ringtone irked him. He was about to put it on silent mode when mistakenly he picked it up instead.
With a sigh, he decides to listen to it anyway. "Hello?"
"Am I talking to Mr. Emmett Morgan?"
Emmett's brows instantly frowned. That voice was nowhere familiar to his memory. In fact, his personal number was given to only a number of people. And in them, only a few were women.
With a pause he affirmed. "Hmm."
"Can you please mind your own business?"
"Excuse me?" 'What did she just said to me?"
"My problems are mine. Even if my grandfather asks you to do something, you should have consulted me. Mr. Morgan, don't ever insult me again."
Saying that Pearl waited not for a second before hanging up.
"..." Emmett blankly looked down at his phone's black screen for a while. His every call gets recorded, but not for once does he ever gets the need to listen to any conversation again. But this time he truly believes that it can't be understood even after ten times.
"... Bro?"
"..."
There was a pin drop silence. Dhruv started feeling anxious around him. "Emmett ?" He called him again.
"Wait a minute."
This is his first time ever that he is left this much speechless by anyone. Dhruv did have baffled him too, with his stupidity, but no one has ever scolded him after his puberty.
He couldn't help but drily chuckle with confusion. After another minute he finally came back to his senses. Understanding everything he looked up to his VP, his friend.
At the moment he wasn't able to choose between beating him right away or getting an explanation and then starting the show.
His fuming eyes weren't hidden from Dhruv. He started sweating right away.
"Bro… What happened? Why are you looking at me this way?"
"What have you done?" Emmett asked gently.
"Huh?" His gentleness again brings him a lot of cold sweat on his nape. His intuitions were shouting at him. Telling him to run away 'before your name started engraving on your coffin.'
"Nothing?"
"This week I only gave you one work. So that you can complete it without any mistake even by mistake. What was it?"
"...Amm… Bro? I-"
"Tell me. Right now." Emmett sternly looked at him.
"...Taking care of Sen or SI."
"You did it then?"
"Yes?"
"How?" He asked again.
"The way you wanted?"
"What did i tell you? The way I wanted it or the way she wants it?" Emmett's voice was cold and deep. He didn't need to repeat because he did clearly mention those words to Dhruv properly while giving orders.
Dhruv's eyes widened immediately. It was true. Emmett did say to go according to Pearl's choices. However, when he saw Sen losing because of her reckless decision he tried to take steps ahead.
As Morgan's VP not for once did he play safely or calmly. He played more like an open game. And that's why he was always preferred by Emmett this much.
However, playing such games openly and forward in place of other companies can be a bad decision. He totally forgot.
"Did that girl call you?"
"What do you think?" Emmett asked back.
Dhruv pursed his lips with a regretful face. "Can I say sorry?"
"She hung up on me."
"Oh, My God! Did she?" This reaction was genuine. No one dares to hang up their call on Emmett. The surprise for a second made him forget what situation he was in. "She is so daring."
"Well, who allowed her to be so arrogant in front of me."
Dhruv's lips shut immediately again. "Bro I just wanted to help her."
"What have you done?"
Dhruv hesitated. "I tried to bribe those directors."
"..." His breathing started racing. Gritting his teeth he asked.
"Do you know what it shows?"
"Hmm."
"Still you did it?"
"It didn't bother me that much."
"Proving someone unprofessional, inferior, unqualified, lacking, is something which didn't bother you? What actually can bring your attention Dhruv?"
Hearing such awful words, Dhruv instantly regretted it. He not for once thought that his actions would bring such a blunder to Pearl.
He did what he wanted as a senior. But playing with someone else's life can never be justified. By his action, he insulted Pearl.
He instantly stood up from his chair. "Bro, I'll take care of everything. I was wrong, I'll apologize." Saying that he turned to leave immediately.
"Stop right there!" Emmett commanded.
"Huh?" Dhruv looked back in confusion.
"She will handle the mess. Apologize to her later."
"But bro it's me who created all this mess."
"She is the heir of SI. She can handle this much. Just don't interrupt her until she asks."
"Promise."
