Chapter 5: Twilight's And Nightmare's Trial

Twilight prepares to charge. Nightmare Moon looks at her with a 'are you serious?' face.

"You're kidding." Nightmare turns to me. "She's kidding, right?"

"I'm willing to bet, she ain't." I sigh.

Twilight charges forward while charging up a spell. Nightmare Moon also charges, but Twilight teleports away. As Nightmare turns around to look, Twilight is casting a spell. She turns into mist and dashes towards her. I fly to meet with Twilight.

Twilight is blasted away by her magic. Nightmare Moon begins to panic. While the stones glow, I watch on with a weird feeling. The magic stops, Twilight looks in shock.

"Where's the 6th element?!"

Nightmare Moon laughs. Before she could shatter the stones, I fly off with one in hoof. She turns to me in anger.

"Foal! Even if you saved just one. The others are shattered. You will never save your princess now. The night, will last, FOREVER!"

"I bet to differ!" I say as I fly off to meet with Twilight. I hand her the stone and smile. "Twilight, remember what I said to you before we entered the EverFree Forest?"

"You said 'the more help, the better. You never know if your odds are in your favor.' But what does that have to do with anything?"

Nightmare Moon laughs. I sigh then smile. "It means, you're not alone."

I turn to face Nightmare. I shout. "Nightmare Moon!" She looks at me. And I huff. "As I am now here, I'll do all that I can to help my friends!"

Something in Twilight sparked. I smile at that. I charge at Nightmare Moon. She gives me the same look. "I understand with the unicorn. But what can you do?!"

Nightmare blasts lightning in my direction. I remember what the voice said. 'Flight allows one to walk on clouds and controls weather.' I smirk, thankful for the children. I'll gamble that their little playing will help in my bending.

My wings shift the thunder. I reenact movements my finger would have made. And too my surprise, it worked. The lightning hits the floor instead.

"How is that possible?!" Nightmare looks on surprised. Twilight looks baffled too.

"I control weather. That's why!"

"But that only works for management and creating something manufactured. That doesn't mean you can literally control the weather!" Twilight shouts.

I stop at my tracks. Oh, an error has been made. Then what the hey did I do just now?! Nightmare Moon turns to mist. She bumps into me and sends me flying. I crash onto the stone next to Twilight, shattering it. Although Twilight looks more concerned with me instead. "TipStir!"

Nightmare Moon laughs. "I see! No weather magic for now! And you have shattered the last element! You foals can do nothing! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Twilight picks up my head. I look at her with a smirk. I can hear the others approaching. I whisper to Twilight. "You know what to do."

Twilight nods. I close my eyes. I feel her place me down and speak. "You think you can destroy the elements of harmony. Just like that?! Well you're wrong. Cause the spirits of the elements of harmony, are right here!"

I feel the shattered stone pieces underneath me move. I pick myself up to better let them go. Twilight talks more.

"AppleJack, who reassured me when I was in doubt, represents the spirt of honesty! Fluttershy, who tamed the Manticore with her companion, represents the spirt of kindness! Pinkiepie, who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger, represents the spirt of laughter! Rarity, who calmed a sorrowful serpent with a meaningful gift, represents the spirt of generosity! And RainbowDash, who could not abandon her friends for her own hearts desire, represents the spirt of loyalty! The spirt of these 5 ponies got us through every challenge you threw at us!"

"You still don't have the 6th element!" Nightmare Moon shouts. "The spark didn't work!"

"But it did. A different kind of spark. I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear TipStir say I'm not alone. The spark ignited inside of me. When I realized that you all are my friends!" A blinding light shines from above. It descends onto Twilight. The 6th stone is revealed.

"You see NightmareMoon. When those elements are united by the spark that resides in the hearts of us all, it creates the 6th element. The element of, magic!" The light shines brighter, encasing the mane 6 inside of it. Their necklaces are formed, and Twilight receives a crown. A rainbow light shoots up from them, aimed towards Nightmare.

As it entraps Nightmare, she yells. "NOOOOOO!"

The light ceases. I open my eyes. And as I look around, I feel better. But how? My injuries are healed. I get up.

"Ohhh… My head…" Rainbow rubs her head.

"Everypony okay?" AppleJack asks.

"Oh thank goodness." Rarity stares at her grown tail.

"Why Rarity, it's so lovely." Fluttershy stares at Rarity's necklace.

"I know. I'll never part with it again!"

Fluttershy shakes her head. "No. Your necklace. It looks just like your cutiemark."

Everypony notices they also have a necklace. All except Twilight, who has a crown.

"Gee Twilight, I thought you were just spouting a lot of hooie." AppleJack says. "But I reckon, we really do represent the elements of friendship."

"Indeed you do." A voice that I am oh so familiar with sounds. It catches everypony's attention.

The sun rises. And Celestia, the sun princess, appears. As regal as always. Everypony bows except Twilight. She approaches her with glee. "Princess Celestia!"

"Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student." Celestia and Twilight hug. "I knew you could do it."

"But, you told me it was an old ponies tale."

"I told you that you needed to make some friends. Nothing more." Everpony picks up their head. "I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return. And I knew it was you who hand the magic inside to defeat her. But you could not unleash it until you let true friendship into your heart."

Twilight looks back at us, smiling. I glance to where Nightmare Moon is. Celestia walks up to her.

"Now, if only another will as well. Princess Luna. It has been a thousand years since I have seen you like this. Time to put our differences behind us. We were meant to rule together little sister. Will you accept my friendship?"

Everypony looks shocked. Luna stares at Celestia, tears forming. She contemplating her options before just running up to Celestia. "I'm so sorry! I missed you so much big sister."

Both hug. Celestia and her cry. "I missed you too."

Pinkiepie burst into tears. Until she stops and talks. "Hey! You know what this calls for?" The scenery changes. TV logic… "A party!"

Everypony in Ponyville celebrates Luna's return. Twilight looks down. I walk up to her. "Hey Twilight. Something wrong?"

Celestia approaches us. "Are you not happy that your quest is complete? And you can return to your studies in Canterlot?"

"That's just it." Twilight looks up at Celestia. "Just when I learned how wonderful it is to have friends, I have to leave them."

Celestia smiles. "Spike, take a note please." Spike pulls out a paper and quilt from nowhere. "I, Princess Celestia, hereby decree that the unicorn Twilight Sparkle shall take on a new mission for Equestria. She must continue to study the magic of friendship. She must report to me her findings. From her new home, in Ponyville."

We hug Twilight. Happy she's staying.

"Oh thank you Princess Celestia. I'll study harder than ever before!"

Everpony celebrates. I feel a song coming on. It's coming from me… I think it's called, The Gift Of A Friend. Changed up a little. [TipStir] (What it is)

Everypony cheers. Twilight and her friends wave off Celestia and Luna as they leave. We all come together. Pinkiepie pulls us in.
