EIGHTY- THREE

We were able to call emergency services to tow us back to the shore and as I was getting down, I realized a box in the engine room.

I went to check it out and called Mark, he was confused as I dragged him into the room.

He looked at the box with a rose on it and lifted it up.

A paper fell off and he took it, it was a letter. It said;

I hope you like my electromagnetic pulse, I made it myself. Love, your best friend.

That girl was legit smart...

But I felt a lot better the next week when I watched the news from home.

Ruby had won the science fair!

And I was soo happy Rose came in second.

She had invented a way to make quantum tunneling happen at a macroscopic level, ie a soccer ball.

I had to know how she did it so I video called her and she said,"I resonated the soccer ball so its wave properties were more noticeable then shot it at the cardboard wall at a velocity of 96.3km/h at the angle of total internal reflection then an evanescent wave of the ball shot out due to frustrated internal reflection and the probability of the ball as a wave being found outside the cardboard wall was low but existent. Aka, the ball passed through momentarily. Do you understand?"

"Yes, but in order for it to get locked into my long term memory...can you repeat everything, in English?"

She groaned and said,"Why are you so pea brained? I played a specific pitch of sound to the ball and shot it at a specific angle and it passed through the cardboard and reflected back."

"Cool, but what was Rose's experiment?"

"She powered a mini city using nuclear fission."

"That's dangerous."

"I know right! It was supposed to be a draw but the radiation almost killed someone so she lost points."

"She deserved it, even worse."

She smiled and said she had to go.

I knew Rose had to be burning with jealousy and I was happy with that.

Wait...

She wasn't angry when she was making our lives miserable...

What if she got jealous?!

Ruby!!

Ruby hung up and looked back, she saw Rose smiling.

What is she planning now?

Rose stretched her arm and Ruby arched a brow then asked,"What are you doing?"

"You won fair and square, so congrats."

Ruby didn't know if there was an injection with poison on her hand or a joy buzzer which could electrocute her so just walked away.

Rose grinned and said,"Enjoy your moment of glory sis, cause it won't last for long..."

Ms Lucy was driving her car when she saw me jump on the road. She hit the breaks but it was too late...

She took me to the hospital and Lucille had tears.

Ms Lucy called Mark to tell him but he said he couldn't come.

"Are you deaf or you're just dumb?! I said your brother was hit by a car!"

"I'm sorry but I'm in an important meeting, he'll be fine with you and Lucille."

She was so angry at him and she came closer to me.

My hand twitched and Lucille gasped. Just then I jumped up and yelled,"April fool's!!!"

Then the doctor and nurses started spraying them with squirt guns. Lucille yelled,"What the hay?!"

I said,"I told you I'll get my revenge."

Ms Lucy said,"We thought you were really hurt Tommy!"

I said calmly,"And I thought zombies really did exist Ms Stone."

Lucille tried to pounce on me but Ms Lucy caught her right on time as she struggled. Then she shook her head at me, then eventually, they began laughing...

I went back to school the next week and the school dance was coming up. I only had one girl in mind as my date but I wasn't sure she'd say yes and my heart was still being patched together from the previous heartbreak so I decided to go alone.

All the girls on Ruby's floor were jealous as all the best boys were asking Ruby and Rose out.

All the boys were bummed out as they couldn't compete with the other guys who were showering the two girls with gifts.

Ruby blew off all the boys, they couldn't buy her. She decided to go alone, just then, Ruby's jaw dropped as she saw the handsome and hunky guy that walked across the hallway in her direction.

He was spinning the keys to a Lamborghini on his finger.

He had raven black hair and dreamy blue eyes. His face was enough to enchant any girl and Ruby frowned when he came to her. She said,"Mack, what are you doing here?"

Rose mouthed from behind him,"Don't be stupid! Accept his offer!"

Ruby just rolled her eyes.

Mack smiled and said,"The pretty dame is also smart, winning the science fair. Also, I wanted to asked you out to the dance."

"I'm not going with anyone."

He tilted his head to the side and chuckled, all the girls went wild then he asked,"Is this because of the first time we met?"

"Oh no, you just wanted me to leave an injured man to die and to run from the cops, I'll never hold that against you."She said sarcastically.

He held her chin gently and whispered in her ear,"I know how to get you your inheritance back."

She gasped and went back then asked,"How do you know about that?!"

"I have my ways."

"Fine, I'll go with you, only if you stop stalking me."

"Deal."

He walked away and the girls were fainting as he passed by. Rose came closer and said,"I told you you could get better boys."

"Just kill me already."

Rose chuckled and asked,"And where's the fun in that?"

Ruby left.
