Penelope wanted to say 'it depends on the enemy,' but after seeing the Sea Serpents already lined up for battle, she could voice no words other than agreement. "They will not match us, Ser. You and your family are quite safe."

"How are we tackling this then, Commander?" Harland said. "A hundred men of unknown strength. They'll swarm us if we try and resist them with a shield wall."

The two beams that were holding the wooden doors closed were bent from the efforts of the attacking bandits. From the cracks in them, it seemed that another charge would open the doors completely, beyond even the slither that had already been opened.

An arrow came flying through that slight gap, but it was only the wood of a Yarmdon shield that it found.
