Alex’s House Day
Characters: Ruth, Alex, Wisdom, Antoinette and Musa
Ruth informs Antoinette of Benson's visit.
Ruth: Antoinette we will be having a visitor today so I will want you to help me in the kitchen. We will be preparing something to welcome him.
Antoinette: Alright. So when are we expecting him?
Ruth: Later in the day but I don't know the exact time he will call. He'll call when he's about to come.
Antoinette: Okay so what are we preparing...(She smiles happily)
Ruth: Eeeeerm let me see.....(She raises her head and looks into the sky) okay we'll prepare banku with okro stew.
Antoinette: Okay. If you say so. So can we get going?
Ruth: Eeeerm yeah but before that please I would like you to help me buy some meat and fresh fish from the cold store down the street.
Antoinette: Alright.....
Ruth: Take this money (She picks her hand bag and brings out some money) please make sure you buy some drinks as well.
Antoinette talks to herself alone. Mtcheeeeeeew who the hell does she think she is?? You now order me around here and there like a common slave. I have to act swiftly to get what I want.
She walks out to get the stuff. Wisdom comes to the kitchen to meet his mom.
Wisdom: Mom where is Auntie Antoinette?? I've not seen her today.
Ruth: Yeah auntie has gone out she'll be back soon.
Wisdom: To where?? (He becomes worried)
Ruth: We will a visitor today so she's going to buy some things for us to use to prepare some food.
Wisdom: Can you please tell me who the visitor is??
Ruth: Eeeeih you want to know everything in this house..... Well daddy's friend will be visiting us.
Antoinette comes with the stuff.
Wisdom: auntie where have you been? I've not seen you since morning.
Antoinette: Oh my angel I went out to buy some items.
Wisdom: Are we expecting any visitor?? Please tell me. (He holds Antoinette's hands)
Antoinette: Hey my boy (She smiles)
Wisdom: Please tell me....
Antoinette: Eeeerm (She looks at Ruth's face) yes daddy has a visitor today.
Ruth: Annette please let's make it quickly.....
They set up the place and prepared the food.
Alex receives a phone call from Benson. Alex prepares to pick him up.
He moves to the living room and meet Ruth and Antoinette.
Alex: Honey I guess you are almost done???
Ruth: Yes please.....
Alex: Benson has just called. So I want to quickly get him.
Ruth: Alright we are almost done.
Alex: Okay..... I'll be back shortly....
Alex leaves to pick Benson... Ruth and Antoinette put the place in order. Wisdom comes in again.....
Wisdom: Mommy where is daddy?
Ruth: Daddy has gone to pick his friend. He'll be back shortly.
Wisdom: I'm very hungry mom...
Antoinette: Oh my dear, don't worry food will be served soon.
Few minutes on, Alex and Benson return to the house....
Alex: My brother, we are at home. Feel free and make yourself comfortable.
Benson: Wow you have a nice home indeed. I can see you are very rich.....(He laughs, hahaha)
Alex: See who is talking about riches here. Between you and I who is richer..... How can I compare myself to somebody who import cars? (He giggles, hehehehe)
Benson: Anyways, you have a nice home. You've really done well.
Alex: Thank you my brother. Eeeeerm let me call my wife.....
He shouts and call Ruth..... Honey please come. We have a visitor.
Ruth quickly gets to the dining.
Alex: Our visitor is here.
Ruth: Welcome Mr. Benson. Hope you are fine??? (She smiles)
Benson: By his grace all is well.
Ruth: We thank God..... Please I'm at the kitchen. I'll be with you in a jiffy.
Benson: Alright my dear....
Alex: Okay honey we will be waiting for you...
Ruth and Antoinette prepare the table for dining.,...
Benson: Wow!!!! (He smiles) I can smell the aroma of the food. Eeeeih my brother I think what you said is true ooooh.
Alex: Just relax ok.... They will finish in no time.
Benson: I can't wait to have your wife's food tasted. (He smiles)
Ruth comes in after 5 minutes.....
Ruth: Honey please food is ready
Alex: Alright, we will join you shortly....
They move to the dining.
As they continue eating, Benson commends Ruth.
Benson: Wow!!! Alex in fact your wife is such a great cook. All what you said about her is the truth.
Alex: Of course. I believe you are now certain that my wife is the best cook ever.
Benson: With what I've observed now, I can say she's the best. I'll be coming here from time to time to enjoy your wife's food if you don't mind. (He laughs)
Alex: That is if you are only coming to eat then I have no problem. But if you are coming to look at my wife then.....
Benson: Hahaha but she's God creature or..... Let me admire God's creature.... Hahaha (He laughs again)
Alex: You are not serious. My friend be careful.
Ruth: Eeeeih honey (They all laugh)
After the meal, they had a chat in the living room. Alex introduces his family to Benson.
Alex: Benson now let me do the proper introduction. This is my wife, she's Ruth and also my lovely son Wisdom and finally, we have Antoinette.
Benson: Wow you have a nice home though.
Alex: Yeah all thanks to my adorable wife.
Benson: Hahahaha of course (They all burst into laughter) Mrs. Alex, thank you for the sumptuous meal.
Ruth: You are welcome.
Benson: Okay Alex I'm planning of putting up a house but I'll want you to handle the contract for me.
Alex: So how do you want it??
Benson: I want a three-storey building self-contained.
Alex: Alright. Then I'll have my planners draw a plan for you or do you have a plan already.
Benson: Eeeerm no I want to leave everything in your care.
Alex: Alright... I've heard you.
Benson: Alex I would want to take my leave. I have some other things to work on. I will be clearing some goods by next week so I need to work things out.
Alex: Alright honey I'm seeing him off.
Ruth: Okay bye Mr. Benson....
(He takes leave of them)
