Maya finally looked at Noah after thinking about the helicopter for a while. Tearing off the long brown wig on her head, she threw it aside, ran her fingers through her silky jet black shoulder-length hair, and shook her head. "Nothing happened on the helicopter. Lucas just annoyed me with his narcissistic behavior so I wanted to remind him that he's not the only good-looking person in this world. Even his driver could give him a run for his money," Maya replied as she glanced at the blond-haired man opposite her.
Noah noticed the woman's gaze and his heart skipped a beat. Was she saying he was good-looking?
Noah ran his eyes across Maya's face. This was the first time he had seen her without the brown wig and he was quite amazed by how different she looked. Her hair was healthy and smooth, and it hung elegantly down to her shoulders. Unlike Delilah, who was unemployed and spent all day lazing about, Maya actually looked smart and professional. Why were the two sisters so different even though their faces were exactly the same?
Noah realized at that moment that Maya was actually very beautiful. Her eyes were big and round, her nose was tall, and her lips were luscious. Moreover, her black hair framed her face perfectly and it accentuated her neck and collarbone.
But, as he scanned his eyes across the woman, Noah's gaze suddenly paused on something. Pointing curiously at Maya's neck, he asked, "What's that?"
Maya raised an eyebrow curiously and touched the spot that Noah was pointing to. Walking over to a mirror, she took a quick look and realized there was a red mark that wasn't there that morning.
In an instant, her eyes opened wide and she subconsciously blushed.
Earlier on, in the helicopter, Lucas had teased this part of her body. She could still remember the touch of his tongue against her neck. Was this a hickey?!
She had completely forgotten about it!
When she had the brown wig on, this mark was completely hidden by the wavy hair, but now that the wig was off, it was immediately exposed. How embarrassing!
Quickly covering the mark with her hand, her eyes darted awkwardly and she replied, "It might be an allergic reaction to the wig..."
"An allergic reaction?" Noah asked worriedly.
Maya nodded her head. "It's nothing. It should go away."
She then grabbed some foundation and concealer from her bag and started patting them on the hickey to cover it up. During her days in advertising, she had worked with models before and learned a few tricks. Covering a hickey was not difficult. In no time, the mark was gone, leaving no sign that it ever existed.
Noah looked at the woman in surprise. [Wow, women are like magicians.] He had seen before-and-after videos of women applying makeup and looking completely different, who knew he would witness such skill in real life.
At that moment, he suddenly remembered something, "By the way, why are you meeting Lucas again tonight? What are you doing together?"
Maya walked over to two suitcases that were lying on the ground. One was a standard grey suitcase, the other was a branded one with a famous monogram pattern. Since Delilah was in the hospital and Maya was pretending to be her, she was naturally staying in the hotel room that her sister had booked and she had been using items from her luggage.
Maya opened the branded suitcase and started flipping through the items inside.
"We are attending a masquerade ball," she replied casually as she tried to look for a dress to wear.
Noah raised an eyebrow in interest. "A masquerade ball?"
Maya nodded her head. "Apparently, it's a charity event and they will be holding an art auction. One of my favorite artists will be unveiling his latest work there, so I agreed to go."
"Your favorite artist?" Noah asked.
Maya smiled, "Yes, have you heard of a street artist called L7?"
Noah's eyes immediately lit up at the mention of this name, "You like L7?"
Maya nodded, picked up a dress, and held it up to her body, "Yes, I think he's very clever."
Noah's lips curled upwards slightly when he heard this...
...
Not too far away, in another hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, Lucas finally turned on his phone for the first time that day. He had been to the Grand Canyon before, so he knew the particular spot they were going to was not going to have any phone signal, thus he decided to disconnect for a while and turn off his phone. He didn't have any important projects or urgent matters to deal with at that moment anyway.
But as soon as the phone turned on, he noticed a few missed calls from Ryan. Last night he had actually told Ryan to investigate who had reported him for trespassing. The way that they were caught was much too strange. There were no cameras around, no people in the alleyway, and the office buildings in the area were vacant. Even when the offices were still operating, he had climbed on that rooftop several times in the past with no issues. How did they end up getting arrested? Was Ryan calling to tell him that he had discovered something?
Holding onto his phone, he swiped to Ryan's contact number and decided to call him back. But just before he did, he noticed he had received a message. Was it a message from Ryan?
Clicking into his messages curiously, he looked at the latest message he received. But his eyes opened wide in surprise; the message wasn't from Ryan. It was from a number that he hadn't seen for a while...
It was a message...from Nova Thomas...
"How dare you go on a date with another girl! You're mine! Did that b*tch seduce you? You better stay away from her or someone's going to get hurt!"
Lucas furrowed his brows. It had been a while since he heard from this woman...
Remaining calm, he swiped to a number and called it. "I finally received another message from Nova Thomas. You still haven't found her yet?"
The voice on the other end replied with embarrassment, "No, her parents are dead and we haven't been able to track down her brother..."
"Well, you better try harder or someone will get hurt," Lucas threatened.
