Chapter 8

Few minutes after Scotts left, there was a knock on the door.

"Who could be disturbing me at this hour", I murmured as I moved lazily to open the door.

"Aikens?", I was surprised he was there."come in", I asked him. He walked in and sat without even waiting for me to offer him a seat, he was gradually dropping his formalities with me.

"How may I help you, Mr gentleman?", I asked crossing my arm on my chest.

"Can you tell me what he came here for?", that was the question that came from his mouth.

"Who are you talking about?", I asked confused.

"You know what I'm talking about young lady"

"Aikens can you explain this cos you are confusing me right now "

"Fine, what business does Scotts have here?", he finally said.

"So is that the reason behind that face you are putting on, anyways he just brought back my keys"

"And how did he get your keys?", he asked with doubt.

"Thanks for all that you have done for me Aikens, but I think you are suffocating me with all this stuff. Do you have to know every move I make?", I couldn't control myself any longer." Anyways, I left my keys on the bench so he decided to bring it back to me, satisfied?", I added and threw myself in the couch. After my explanation, the room became quiet for sometime before he decided to break it.

"He really just returned your keys?"

"Yeah, and why are you even here? I thought you went home."

"I just wanted to make sure you got here safely, I'd take my leave now", he said and stood up to leave.

"Thank you for everything ", I said to him in a low tone. He just smiled at me and left.

Immediately he left, I felt so lonely again and began thinking about my past. I promised myself to forget about the past and focus on the present in order to better my future. I slowly fell asleep in the couch.

As I slept peacefully, I drifted to dreamland where I saw myself in class . Scotts approached me with an unpleasant face.

"Are you having an affair with Aikens?", he asked.

"No, Aikens is my best friend "

"I think you don't really know anything about him, he's a playboy and does not think about others, just beware of him".

My sleep was interrupted by a phone call, it was Scotts calling. How could this be possible, you mention of the devil and he just appears.

"Hello there", he said over the phone.

"Yeah", I responded in a sleepy tone.

"Sorry for disturbing your sleep by this time", he apologized.

"Never mind, why did you call?"

"I wanted to know if I would see you tomorrow, I want to have a talk with you"

"Sure, I would be there"

"Okay then see you tomorrow ", he said and hanged up.

I got up from the couch and went straight into my room to have a proper rest even though I was finding it difficult to go back to sleep.

Early in the morning, I woke up from bed to get ready for my first lecture. I headed towards the lecture hall where I spotted Scotts standing beside the door. I stretched my hand to open it but he said ,"allow me", with a smile. "May I speak to you after our first lectures?", he asked.

"Sure", I replied and entered the hall.
