Our Hearts, Connected (1)

So after much confusion, we took turns to wash up. Luckily there were towels present. I had to use the shop function to get another set of clothes for each of us. Since.. we weren't wearing anything besides our pajamas, and as for Liliath, I realized how she had been wearing her thin nightgown this whole time.

Prune's closet, for some reason, had all her clothes still intact so there weren't any problems with that. Of course, I did buy a mantle for her, the same one Nine had. Liliath and I were demon lords, and something I just realized is that temperature doesn't really affect us.

And.. undergarments of course. Can't forget that..

As for where we would be sleeping, it was decided that Liliath and Prune would sleep together while Nine and I would sleep on the couch in the living room. The reason being was obvious by another reason was because of that inviting look Liliath gave me.. as if she was going to eat me up or something.

Gulp.

Nope. We're way too young for that.

For some reason, Nine went to lock the door before finally dozing off on the couch. I took the couch opposite to her and stared at the dark ceiling, a small orange light in the kitchen illuminating the place.

Shit happened today huh?

How long has it been since I died? Less than a day? That's if we're disregarding the time we spent in Bleu's domain.

Let's see what we have on our agenda. First, Siesta. Second, we have to get out of the royal courtyard. Third, to experiment with our unique skills. Fourth, figuring out how to live a normal life in this world. Fifth, understanding the political situation of this world, things like what the heroes are doing and such… or I'm I getting the arrangement wrong? How does this relate to Liliath's evolution quest anyways? Are we going to ignore the war or take part in it?

I got these draft questions down on the notepad or notebook function-- whatever you call it-- on my UI. Speaking of my UI, here's a list of all functions. There's a lot, not to mention, from what Unknown said, I could add even more functions-- or widgets.

Here are the ones I've been using before the start of this isekai:

Mail widget, Chibi view widget, Shop widget, Gacha widget, UI Visibility Editing widget, Evolution Quest widget, Quest and Special Quest widget.

New ones I've found:

Map widget, Tracking widget, Video calling widget, Messaging widget, Scratchpad widget, Dictionary widget, Appraisal widget, Add widget, Call-4-help widget, Widget creation widget, BookReader widget, World clock widget, Health data widget, Inventory widget, Magic guide widget, Mana carving widget, Magic casting widget, Auto casting widget, Basic status window widget..

Moreover, there has been an update to the quest list. It's much more simplified now.

There's a lot..

Now, the limit is around 21 quests at a single time unlike the previous limit of 8 quests. The leveling system for this is also gone, perverted sequences are still there but.. mostly gone.

And from the way the quests are phrased, I have a feeling that it's no longer just something between me and Liliath. The chibi view UI also encompasses Nine and Prune now. Which.. by my hypothesis, means that this quest system isn't limited to just us, Prune and Nine could also help procuring points.

Haah..

I really can't sleep.. my mind just keeps running and running. I'm not tired at all. If anything, I feel invigorated-- excited.

Then I heard the sound of a door opening, I shifted my sight a little and saw Liliath. She was wearing the loose t-shirt and pants that Prune had in her closet.

"Can't sleep?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"Can we have tea?" She asked back.

"Alrighty," I got from the sofa and walked to the kitchen together with her.

We made sure to turn on only a few of the lights so that it doesn't cause Nine to wake up. She looked as dead as a log, I wouldn't want to know what would happen if we disrupted her beauty nap now would I?

Liliath found some instant tea in the cabinet. With it and Liliath's magic to create some warm water, we sat on the kitchen table opposite to each other with a cup of tea each.

She bobbed the tea bag up and down, creating ripples in her drink. Staring downwards, her sole focus was on the movements of her hands.

We stayed like that for a while. It was quiet, but nostalgic. Sitting here together like this, having tea, just the two of us.

I think the most memorable tea time we had was after that incident Liliath had her first period in the modern world.. yeah.. that'll forever be one of those unerasable memories. Speaking of which, how do girls in this fantasy world deal with periods again?

"Liliath, are you alright?" I finally opened my mouth. I couldn't see her face, her hair was shadowing it.

She didn't reply,.

I took in a deep breath and took a sip of my tea. You know, it's actually nice to down a cup of warm tea during winter months.

Placing the cup back on the table, I asked again. I wonder what's bothering her? Maybe she's uncomfortable being back in her world?

"Liliath?"

"I'm sorry Noel."

Her words were soft, but it wasn't inaudible. She was struggling to speak what was in her mind, her heart, that kind of feeling.

"..For killing you."

"Ah.. oh-- ", I laughed. Or tried to, "That-- Well, it's all part of the script right?"

I just remembered it now. I was killed by Liliath last night.. or was it a few hours ago?

"I'm sorry Noel.. I'm very very sorry.." her voice trailed away.

"It's alright. I took that risk anyway, and what did you know? It worked out and I'm a demon lord now," I said with a meek smile.

"I'm sorry Noel.. I'm sorry."

Liliath kept her head lowered.

I got up from my seat and walked over. Seeing as I was about to pull her into my arms, she fell from her chair and clung to me on the floor.

"I'm scared, Noel.. I'm scared.." burying her head in my abdomen, her hands gripping tightly to my sleeves, tears soaked my clothes.

"It's alright. I'm Liliath. I'm here, I'm still here," I propped her up and hugged her. Speaking those words as if placating a child. Killing a loved one.. it must've been one of the scariest shit to have ever happened right?

What if Noel died? What if we never reincarnated? What would happen then?

I'm sure she was worried about this.

"Noel.. I love you. Don't leave me.."

"I won't leave you. I won't."

I'm pretty sure I can't promise to always be together with her everytime since.. we have to split up some times and what nots, but as for being 'together'--

"I love you too Liliath. I really do."

She clung to me and wept softly, I stroked the back of her head, ran my hand through her silky smooth velvet hair.

Her breathing sounds stabilized to a normal pace, her chest, our heartbeats.. I could feel it. As if we were resonating, I didn't want to part from her.

"Noel.. let's complete the contract."

"Contract.." the words I wanted to say were caught in my throat.

Liliath had her eyes closed, a tear line on her cheeks.. she was tip-toeing, inviting me to take her soft supple lips..

I wrapped my hands around her waist, lowered my head ever so gently..

Our lips touched.

Soft, warm...

A heat encompassing my entire being, not just the feeling of her lips. Of course, the only thing I could only think of was how wonderful it felt.

It was only for a moment, then we parted our lips. Liliath then buried her head back into my chest.

Clearer than before, I could feel her presence, her existence. She's here, with me.. forever and in the present.

"Now you're mine.. finally mine.. all mine.. " Liliath said, laughing a little. Surprise, surprise, I thought she would cry or something.

"Now that's creepy. Well-- You're also mine too," I said, closing my eyes and enjoying the warmth of her embrace.

Yeah.

Liliath is now mine.
