Chapter: 39
Adrian appeared in the living room, the familiar surroundings offering a stark contrast to the chaos he had just left behind. Mary looked over her shoulder from the couch, a slight smirk playing on her lips.
"You took your sweet time," she remarked, raising an eyebrow.
"I did, didn't I," Adrian replied with a shrug, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
He walked over to Mary, his expression softening. Without a word, he scooped her up in his arms, lifting her effortlessly into a bridal carry. Mary let out a surprised laugh, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck.
"What's this all about?" she asked, her tone playful but curious.
Adrian looked into her eyes, his expression tender. "Just felt like I needed to hold you," he said simply, carrying her towards the couch.
Mary's eyes softened as she looked up at him. "Well, I won't complain," she murmured, resting her head against his chest.
As he gently set her down on the couch, Mary nestled into his side, her fingers tracing patterns on his shirt. "What you thinking bout?"
"Hmm, I was planning a trip/vacation for everyone my sister and niece included but I don't know where to go. A resort in a different country if so where?"
"How about Japan I've been curious about going as of late." A familiar female voice answered.
Adrian looked over his shoulder and seeing Anafabula he hummed. "Japan huh? I haven't been there in a while honestly. And from what I remembered it has a very low persetage chance that an anomaly might appear or even escape containment from the Foundation so yeah ok, okay, Japan it is."
Mary grinned at his decision. "Japan sounds perfect. The culture, the food, the sights... it'll be a nice change of pace."
Adrian nodded, a sense of anticipation building within him. "Then it's settled. I'll make the arrangements."
Adrian teleported out of the room. Mary looked up at Anafabula then asked.
"I don't want to sound ungrateful and rude but didn't Adrian and most of the household go on vacation recently?"
"Well yeah we did but I'm pretty sure the reason is because of the upcoming meeting. You know how those get when they start." Anafabula said
"Loud and chaotic," Mary finished, nodding in understanding. "I guess a little peace and quiet before the storm wouldn't hurt."
"Exactly, plus it's an even better way for Sky and Sigurrós to get closer." Anafabula added with a knowing smile.
Mary smiled at that. "Yeah, those two could use more time together."
The room fell into a comfortable silence, each of them lost in their thoughts, already picturing the serene landscapes of Japan, the gentle hum of life there a perfect contrast to the chaotic storm brewing on the horizon.
