Cole followed sounds around the city, finding a young mother cradling her injured son, tears streaming down her face.
"He was playing in the street and a falling debris hurt him!" she sobbed with desperation in her voice.
Cole knelt beside them, assessing the boy's wound.
'This is not deep, it will be easy to just–'
"Don't worry, I'm here to help," he assured her, gently cleaning the wound and wrapping it with a torn piece of cloth from his sleeve.
"T-Thank you– Ah?" The woman, wiping her eyes, finally got a good look at Cole.
"You're... the Dragon Slayer!" the woman gasped, her eyes widening in recognition.
"Thank you, Lord Angel… for saving my son!"
Cole offered a 'warm' smile, relishing the gratitude even as a pang of… a weird mixed feeling churned in his stomach.
"It's my duty," he murmured, secretly hoping the relief in her eyes masked the truth she wouldn't see.
