Reunion

On the other hand, Mateo felt delighted after seeing her. He knew it. That silhouette, that voice, that hair color! Everything looked like her. He just needed to look at one more thing inorder to confirm that it was really her.

Then after a few seconds, he had his lips parted in disbelief and joy. Izara wore a loose gown that just reached her shoulders, therefore giving a clear view of her neck. And on it, he saw her birthmark.

Fuck it! It was really her. That birthmark was a solid proof that it was her. It was hereditary and has been passed down by her ancestors ever since.

Izara was carefully observing every change of expression on his face when he took the initiative to speak first, "Izara, it's me your brother. Mateo!"

Soon after he finished speaking, her eyes turned misty but she tried her best to hold back her tears from falling. She looked up at him and started shaking her head hastily in denial.

She could not bring herself to believe that. Her brother was dead for Christ's sake! He was dead! Even if they looked familiar, so what? It must just be a coincidence or maybe a setup. Who knows? If so, then he must be up to no good.

Seeing that she was still in doubt and was even starting to be on her guard, Mateo unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt. Realization struck her when she saw the birthmark on the left side of his chest.

Her brother was the only one in the family who had his birthmark on the chest instead of on the neck. The particularity of the birthmark was that it had the shape of a crescent moon. So it was kind of unique.

Looking attentively, it did not seem to be fake. So did it mean that her brother was not dead? Then what about what happened to her mother? Was it also a setup? All the grievances they felt before, were they all meaningless?

When he saw that she believed him now, he took her in his arms and she didn't hold back anymore. She let it all out. She sobbed till her face was scarlet red. Then he let go of her, took a tissue from his pocket, and handed it to her.

"Brother, it's really you! Why were you missing all these years? I mean, why didn't you come back? You know, everyone believed that you were dead. Several weeks after your disappearance, a parcel containing a video of you dying and a small piece of cloth stained with your blood was sent to us. That was like a huge blow to the entire family. Mom was so devastated that she started going crazy. And one day she ran out of the house and jumped on the road, then a truck coming out from nowhere hit her. Then she died from excess loss of blood," though she recounted the story throughout with a calm tone, he could see the pain in her eyes.

Mateo had a feeling that there was more to the story, but he didn't urge her to tell further. Presently, what needed to be done was to celebrate his reunion with his little sister.

"Come, let's go and have fun. After all, it has been so many years and we have many things to discuss about. What do you think? Uhhh?" Mateo said in a playful tone. By the time he finished speaking, his assistant came in a rush, "Sir, the helicopter has arrived we can leave at any time from now,"

When Izara heard what the assistant said she was so delighted. She felt as if it was a miracle specially done for her. She silently thanked the heavens for listening to her prayers.

While Izara was enthusiastic, Mateo on the other hand had a frown on his face. He did not have the intention of leaving again since he just met his little sister. He wanted to postpone his flight so as to have more time with Izara.

"We are not going back now. Tell the pilot that when I will be planning to leave, I shall notify him a week before," with a straight face, Mateo ordered his assistant with no room for discussion. Hearing his words, both Izara and his assistant had an ugly expressions on their faces.

Even though both of them had the same look on their faces, each of them had his own reason. Izara needed the helicopter so she could run away from this country and from that man's territory and reach while the assistant wanted his boss to leave the country as early as possible so as to escape from a group of assassins.

"Please Matt, can you not delay your flight?" Izara said in a coquettish tone. She saw that it would be best if she spoke up first. She had to leave now before it was too late. The earlier she left the better it would be. Upon seeing the expectant look on her face, Mateo sighed in desperation.

Neither could he bear to say no to her nor could he go after they just met back after several years. Noticing his conflicting expression, Izara said with a soft tone "Matt, if you find it difficult for us to part now, what about bringing me with you?"

Although Izara's suggestion made sense, Mateo had a strange feeling that she was hiding something from him. But watching her face full of anticipation, he could not bring himself to disappoint her. Without giving it much thought, he nodded in acceptance.

Izara and the assistant were so overjoyed that one could see stars shining in their eyes. Seeing their joyful and enthusiastic expressions caused Mateo to chuckle at their childishness.

While leaving the Hotel, she couldn't help but wonder how unexpected things went. Not only did the man she saved last night was staying at the same hotel as her but he was also her long-lost brother. No! Her dead brother. It looked like fate enjoyed toying with their lives and future. Then she would be patiently waiting for it to end the game while she would just be an onlooker.

Out of the hotel, she could see a black luxurious car waiting for them to hop in. Sitting in the back seat with her brother, she closed her eyes and thought calmly 'That's it! Finally leaving this country'. Then a smile gradually started forming on her face.
