Drach Training

Do an author note.

Zake met up with Yuri outside in the middle of the night. The moon was full and there were no clouds in sight, it was a bit chilly.

The Drach Caster was currently resting on the ground, a bright lantern next to him as his source of light. He was looking up at the stars, using his index finger to try to find a constellation with them but then he had realized something.

"I just remembered. I don't know any ones." Zake thought to himself. He started giving them names himself.

"This is lios, that's Ares and that last one is Orion...." Zake stopped himself when he heard footsteps so he turned his head to his left. He saw a handsome boy with black hair that partly covered his ears, he also had calm red eyes.

"You're early." Yuri said as he arrived. He was wearing a light, white jumpsuit with blue trims all over which really made his hair and eyes pop out.

Yuri could see in the dark so the lantern wasn't of any use to him but he knew Zake needed it so he had also told him to bring it.

"I like having some alone time, even just a few minutes. My roommate is super noisy, does he ever rest?" Zake said, the last part he told mostly to himself.

"So what did you need? I'm assuming it has something to do with my Casting Trait." Zake asked him, one of his eye brows arched up.

"I need you to create some Drachs for me to fight. I want to train myself and this is the only way I can think of except sparring with others." Yuri answered him as he warmed himself up by jogging on the spot and doing a few push ups.

"Okay." Zake activated his Charm, making the two egg-shaped cufflinks come out of their camouflage mode.

Yuri also activated his, the small yellow brooch becoming two crescent shaped moons facing each other with a needle shaped object intersecting it. The black color of it made it stand out in the jumpsuit.

During their time at the Krueger Base, Yuri and Zake got to know each other better and reached a level of understanding.

Kind of like Yuri, Zake was outcastes by those around him.

His mom was a Caster while his dad was a Human and neither of them were very wealthy but they had some connections to richer people. So they had moved to a richer neighbourhood but that didn't stop the kids from making fun of him. But he got so tired of it that he made the decision that others conception of him would not bother him.

Zake dipped his hand into his Compartment Bag and pulled out his Drach Grimoire, the book where he wrote about every single Drach he had ever encountered. He began flipping through it until he stopped at a page.

Zake closed his eyes so he could focus because it had been a while since he had created this particular Drach and now he was at a higher stage too.

"Drach Casting: Old Beast." A large white beast resembling a rat with two upstanding grey horns and a long tail had appeared. It's razor sharp teeth were out and in it's mouth, foam gathered in it as it faced Yuri.

With his Casting, Zake could replicate Drachs after carefully observing them which was one of the reasons he excelled in Drach Biology. He could also make the Drachs he created to know who was his enemy or friend and they would act accordingly, by either attacking or supporting them. The name of this one in particular was known as a Zoonby, a very common Drach.

"Demon Ability: Aura Slash!" A black aura in the shape of a blade encased his hand and he threw a strike at the Drach but his attack didn't hit anything.

Instead, the Zoonby was now behind Yuri and had used both of it's hind legs to kick him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Yuri got up and saw the Rat Drach trying to bite on his arm so he quickly kicked it away. It had been hit to the ground but it had quickly recovered and was coming at Yuri again.

"It's one of the fastest Drachs and it's at Stage 6, making it even faster." The Drach Caster informed him. Another thing that Zake could do was that he could give Drachs the specific Stages they would be at but he couldn't do any higher than the Stage he was already at unless he managed to capture one that was a level above him which he had never done.

The Zoonby pounced on Yuri but he had disappeared into the Void of Darkness.

The Drach was confused and looked all over for him.

"Got ya." Yuri appeared right where he was before and then activated his Black Gloves. He stretched out his palms and the shadows stretched outward in the form of tentacles. In no time, they had wrapped around it's entire body.

With the intent of strangling it, Yuri tightened his grip on it until it exploded into magic dust. Unlike regular Drachs unless they had been captured, Zake's Drachs didn't drop Valuable Items when destroyed.

Yuri panted and one of his knees were on the ground. The Zoonby wasn't powerful in terms of strength but it was able to wear him out by making him switch Spells rapidly.

Zake was singing quietly to himself and Yuri had picked up on it.

"My name is no, My number is..." Zake realized as he saw Yuri staring at him.

"Oh, you're done. How 'bout these?" Zake stuck out his hand as he created more Drachs.

This time, he had created four of them. They all were four feet tall monkey-based Drachs with purple fur and they were all at Stage 4.

Yuri activated his Black Gloves yet again and tried to grab one with it but his attack seemed to have gone through it so he drew the shadow back.

"Intangibility? If that's their power, then this is gonna be difficult." Yuri murmured to himself but he was hit in the head by what felt like a steel pole and it caused him to jerk back.

He looked behind him and saw a different one with a strange black substance covering it's hands.

"Oww! Hardening as well."

The Monkeys he were going up against were known as Kuyaks. They were always in quads and they each had four different magical powers and they varied between each quad.

Yuri kept trying to block but they were getting through it. He tried hitting one but they countered with a powerful blow.

'I'm gonna get overwhelmed.' Yuri thought to himself, thinking whether he should tell Zake to call it off or not. The Monkeys were annoying him to the point that his Demon Side was getting affected as well. An image of Arina's Power Watch then flashed in his head and he discarded the thought of telling Zake to stop.

Zake on the other hand was slightly worried about him, knowing he was Half-Demon but didn't stop, unsure whether that would tick off the Shadow Caster more.

Yuri tried to fight them but their skills were so diverse and versatile, he couldn't keep up with them and eventually was losing out but wasn't in any critical condition. They kept tossing him around and it was starting to rile up his Demon side. Yuri's eyes glowed a scary crimson and Zake saw it too and feared for his Drachs.

Even though Yuri had now reached the Stage of Demon Warrior, his emotions were still easily agitated especially the ones like anger, passion or frustration.

"That's enough!" Yuri said, frustration and fury visible on his face.
