While the mercury climbed to a hundred degrees, efforts started strong and then petered out. People got hot, got tired, got busy with other things—inside things.
Shawn stared at the ceiling with blank eyes. Skipper had left in the middle of the night without a word to him. Was his proposition so wrong? She just wanted a boy toy and he didn't want to be that.
She looked really exhausted and he was just being considerate so why was she so pissed about that? And the sun felt so hot. He could feel the sweat form along his backbone and trickle down. The air-conditioning wasn't helping.
"Pete, hire a warlock to put a cooling spell on the villa."
Pete nodded as he closed the doors behind him. Shawn jogged back up the stairs to change his shirt. He didn't want to let go of Skipper yet it seemed she really didn't plan on returning.
