chapter 2

Sam went straight home after getting her job she wanted to tell Mira the good news but she thought she might be busy at work so she decided to send her a text message. And she kept thinking of how her future will be working for this grumpy guy whom she exchanged words with. She decided she was going to make him like her and forget about the past and have the best relationship a boss and employer could ever have even if he was annoyingly handsome man who is had an irresistible face which would bother anyone who had good eyes.

She went to check for clothes to wear for work the next day then suddenly she wasn't liking any of her clothes, they all seemed very old fashioned and ugly then she took her phone off the table and sent Mira a text to help her to pick clothes for her work when she is done with work but Mira was out of town for the day she couldn't help her pick clothes so she sent her pictures of what she could buy, so she went off and bought them but she hasn't worn most things Mira picked for her so she tried them all to see if they fit and they all did perfectly but she didn't look like herself which she liked very much.

Early next morning Samantha woke up by the ring of the alarm, then took her bath and looked at the mirror and said to herself "Sam you can do this, you gat this, you can do anything you set your mind to, you are the best out of the best and will always continue to be the best" she said wearing her clothes and tried putting on make up and decided to curl her hair into a bun and sent Mira a text she was on her way to work and she also asked if she could see her at work or she was still out of town. While waiting for her reply, she took breakfast and dropped the dishes in the dishwasher then went out to take a cab to work.

At work, it was her first day as a worker in The Coleman Industry she was nervous and feeling awkward, she was at the entrance of the building on entering the building she saw her boss pulled up so she decided to hurry and entered the elevator then went straight to the secretary's office to seat down while she was ready to show her her new seat as the manager. She went to the rest room to touch up her makeup and look confident for her new job and as soon as she got out, the secretary told her she was being summoned by the boss. Her heart started to beat faster with every single move she takes towards his office then she knocked on the door then she walked in and saw him pouring water into a glass cup then she knew she had to greet him and act respectful and all.

"good morning sir, i hope you weren't stressed?" she managed to ask then he looked straight at her and smiled then said "if you were this nice i wouldn't have hired you, so when you are around me, act like yourself and i know that wasn't you" so she smiled back and explained how sorry she was " i was just annoyed and you came into the elevator and added to my predicament and i obviously wasn't in the mood to talk but you went on and on and didn't stop talking, am sorry once again"

"you ought to be sorry, i mean you didn't know me and you insulted my clothes, do you know how much i got them? and you just looked me in the eye and down graded me in seconds, i have never been that humiliated in my entire life of working as a businessman it was so insulting and i was just trying to offer you my opinions and you did not only rejected them but you insulted me in the process"

she was just standing there looking at him moving from one place to another and also noticed every time he mentioned the word 'insulted' he frowns then smiles again like it was as if he was trying to hide the fact he was angry but he doesn't know that his expressions and his actions and attitude says it all "oh, i didn't know you were trying to share opinions, well lets say it didn't look that way i guess another time when you want to share your opinions with someone else you should say it with all sincerity and don't say it with expectation to expect a gratitude in return or maybe you should be watchful of whom you talk too and note if they are in the actual mood to talk with you also then maybe whatever happened wouldn't have happened in the first place" she ended up saying after she noticed she was talking non stop then she went ahead and looked down and didn't look up until she heard him laugh.

"Miss Samantha Carpenter, you are a handful and am very happy i hired you. i mean you didn't even look at the fact that i was your employer and you just went ahead and said your mind without minding me at all" he stopped talking to continue laughing then he stood up and walked over to her and said "can you always manage to always be like this? every time? don't mind anybody and anyone in your way always go for the goal? always choose right over wrong? can you?" he asked

then she went silent and confused and he moved closer to her "can you?"

"am sorry i don't understand what you are talking about, what truth? what goal?" she said taking a step backwards and he noticed she was moving away from him then he smiled and moved back "you would understand when the time comes miss Samantha and i trust you are going to do pretty well, and i don't give second chances i am expecting the best from you and nothing else, i mean you could give more" he said walking over to his chair across the table "but not less miss Samantha" he concluded sitting down on his seat then smiled at her and told her she could leave if she wants too that he was done with her. then she took her leave and wondered what he was talking about, just then some lady at the other table close to hers stopped her and asked

"sorry to disturb you, you are the new manager right?" the lady asked

"yes i am, is there a problem?"

"no not at all, i was just asking because you just came out of the bosses office and i was curious about what happened in there because as you know right he is a very grumpy man and we all wonder why he is still so fresh and goo looking every time and...."

"i would appreciate it if you cut straight to the point miss...." she said expecting her to mention her name to her

"Jennifer" she finally said

"right Jennifer, please cut to the point" she said waiting

"right, we all heard the boss laughing i just wanted to confirm" she said moving closer "was he really the one that laughed?" she added

"yes why?" she asked confused

"he never laughs or smiles. He does neither of those things so we were all shocked when we heard his voice laughing, some even doubted. but am curious what did you do to make him laugh?"

"i don't get your question, it's normal to laugh and all of those things i even thought he was doing it to make fun of me and my replies to him so i didn't put much effort into it. am sorry I wasn't able to help you I wish I could" Sam said leaving her front and headed back to her desk and she started working on the things she was meant to but she had go to his office atleast three times before break and that was the most stressful part of the day for her.

Her first day of work was very intense and you enjoyed every bit of it but she was exhausted by the time she got home and she saw Mira destroying the fridge for food scattering everywhere

"what's wrong with you?" Sam said laughing dropping her bag on the table

"dude, the food over there was annoying and the pizza was worse God, and am tired as fuck Sam" she said going to hug her then she sniffed her neck and smiled "tell me how your first day went" she said and went back to the fridge "because am dead hungry right now"

Sam laughed and took something out for her and put it in the microwave to heat it up for her while they sat down in the sitting room and talked and talked and she told Mira how Matt Coleman was way too handsome to be that far gone in his age and mostly the little time they had they made the best out of it and catch up on everything that happened while Mira was gone.
