Twenty Seven
*Bella's POV*
The thrill of the kiss still lingers in my body as I make my way home, the memory of Jameson's lips on mine replaying in my mind. I can still feel the warmth of his touch, the way his arms wrapped around me, making me feel safe and cherished.
It has been nice confiding in someone about everything my family has been doing to me. I loved that Jameson had listened to everything I said. I have never felt so special like I did today, especially when he promised to help me fight my family.
As I near my building, I notice one of Matt's bodyguards loitering near the entrance. My heart sinks as I climb down from the cab. I bend my head and try to walk past him, but he steps into my path, a smug look on his face.
"Hey, Bella," he says in a weird tone. "What have you been up to?"
I muster the courage to shoot him a mean look, "Excuse me? Are you monitoring me or something?"
