Ning Youyou denied it. "Stop! It won't do you any good if he's seriously injured. Please, stop."
She held his arm firmly.
Puzzled, Mu Shaoqing could not help but wonder if the silly woman was actually concerned about him.
"Stop."
After a while, Mu Shaoqing finally did as told and stopped hitting the BLOVE manager.
Ning Youyou heaved a sigh of relief.
The experience had clearly startled her. Her face was even paler than before, and her trembling lips exposed her fear.
Mu Shaoqing noticed the unpleasant emotion in her eyes. Gently, he held her shoulders and gazed at her with concern. "Are you all right?"
She merely shook her hand, and without a word, started running towards the exit with her head down.
He watched as she left the venue before giving the filthy manager one last look. Barely conscious, he had become incapable of moving as he laid helplessly on the floor.
"Tang An, you should know what to do!"
"Sure."
From a hidden corner, a man came forward to Mu Shaoqing as soon as his name was called.
"His arm is the price to pay; it is so he'll remember this lesson forever."
Mu Shaoqing then walked away.
Ning Youyou did not return to the main hall where the ball was held. Instead, she walked through the wing and took the stairs all the way to the ground floor. In one burst, she ran out of the hotel and found her way to an open square where she was left in peace and quietness. It was a complete change of setting, as compared to the ball that was bustling with noise and excitement. With the rush of emotions that overflowed in her heart, she broke down and cried.
Why did it happen to her?
Mu Shaoqing had never thought that he would do something so silly. He had no reason to run after the woman, but he did anyway. There he was at the hotel entrance, having realized how odd everything was to him.
From a distance, he caught sight of the woman who stood in complete solitude in the square. She looked so helpless, and for a moment, he was glad that she did not run far away.
Without a word, he marched towards the square and heard her crying.
Mu Shaoqing frowned at the thought of the manager. He should have squashed him for the indecent assault that she had unfortunately suffered.
He quietly approached and offered her a piece of tissue.
Ning Youyou had honestly not thought that he would show up in the square. It came as a surprise to her. She could only gaze at the man and the tissue paper in his hand in astonishment.
Mu Shaoqing became impatient as she seemed reluctant to accept his offer; so, he went ahead and wiped the tears off her face.
"Why are you crying now? Do you regret showing him mercy?"
Awkwardly, she looked away to avoid his hand and said something indistinctly, "Thanks."
While she stepped aside to regain her composure, he did not utter a word and waited quietly.
In a few minutes, Ning Youyou had reduced her emotions to a dry sniffle. "Don't you plan to go back in?" Mu Shaoqing finally broke the silence.
She held her head up and stared at him fixedly as he was asking her about the ball.
"Never mind; I'm not going back looking like this," she replied with a sigh.
She did not think that he would make it to the ball tonight. To her relief, he showed up at the very last moment when she needed him the most.
"Where do you want to go next?"
His question was met with a blank stare. Where else could she go at this hour?
Mu Shaoqing looked upon her with a smile and said, "Tonight, I'm yours. As your date, I'll go anywhere that you want to go."
