Chapter 28

The werewolf turned his back on Tom because he was looking at the forest under the tower and then looked up at the wide sky in front of him.

When he sensed a human behind him, the werewolf let out a deep growl that threatened the figure behind him.

"Go! Who allowed you here?!" The werewolf said loudly to drive Tom away from her surroundings.

Tom sighed ignoring Damian's growl and shooing.

"If you don't go then I'll kill you, tear you apart, and..." But the werewolf immediately fell silent unable to continue his words anymore.

The person behind him didn't move away to avoid the threat the werewolf posed.

The werewolf sighed heavily because despite being threatened no matter what, the human still didn't budge reminding him of his loyal servant. If it weren't for the wind stopping suddenly, Tom would never have heard the werewolf whisper.

"Sorry... I lost control..." The werewolf said quietly.

The werewolf hated everyone... but what he hated the most was himself.

"Give me your hand." Tom said softly.

The werewolf thought he heard wrong, he turned around in surprise to look at Tom.

The person behind him was wearing his favorite white clothes. He couldn't see any emotion showing on the human's skinny face.

Seeing the werewolf's blank expression, Tom approached the werewolf without any fear.

"Close your eyes and don't think about anything..." Tom said again softly.

Then, Tom hugged the werewolf. As the clouds slowly rolled in in the wind, Tom's body began to glow gently.

"AAAAHHH..." Suddenly Tom's voice screamed loudly. Damian who listened to Tom's loud scream could only be shocked.

Tom felt torture that was more painful than she had ever felt before, the thousands of years of anger and pain that had accumulated within the werewolf and then turned it into negative energy that was ten times stronger as it shattered Tom's soul.

"NO!!!" Fresh blood started flowing from the side of Tom's mouth as the werewolf looked at Tom's pale face. With a feeling of horror, the man who was holding him almost fell. The werewolf tried to struggle from Tom's embrace to get rid of the pain that both Tom and him were feeling, but a wave of intense pain suddenly exploded from his heart.

The pain was now spreading from his heart to his bones, his veins, even his fur as it trembled.

The old servant who heard the two shrill screams came rushing over from the other end of the palace holding the lawnmower he had forgotten to put down because he was too panicked to hear the screams.

When he arrived at the top of the tower, the servant gasped and dropped his cutting tool onto the ground.

Dark clouds spread around the tower, making the sun's rays concentrated on the tower.

In front of him, his master now regained his human form holding tightly the weak human in his arms.

"Why... Why did you help me?" The master asked in a trembling voice crying.

The man who was in Damian's arms now fell to the ground and coughed softly but his face had a blank expression of emotion.

"After you've been in a position of thirst for blood and carrying all the debts and burdens of blood all this time, don't you... feel tired?" Tom said quietly holding back the pain she was feeling.

The maid changed the clothes she had previously worn into her finest formal tuxedo.

The glossy floor below shone under the dim light.

He combed his grayish white hair, lit an antique oil lamp and then descended down a circular passage where he came to the palace's wine cellar.

He checked the year of manufacture because he was looking for the sweetest-smelling wine in the dusty wine cellar.

As he stepped out, he had another silver cutlery in his hand.

He straightened his back as he strode gracefully through the familiar palace. Faintly, the soft rhythm of the song echoed from the other end of the palace.

The song slowly flowed into every corner of the palace like river water.

As he stepped closer, the sound of the song became clearer. The maid stopped in front of a large sandalwood door. He gently knocked three times then opened the door and entered the room.

Inside the room, the large glass windows displayed a faint blue night sky.

The storm raging outside the window made the trees sway. The rain falling from the roof made his shadow move under the lights.

Damian had his back to his maid as he sat on the beautiful antique sofa, listening quietly to the rhythm of the song, lost in thought.

"Everything is ready, sir." The maid approached Damian.

"Hmm, fine." Damian said nodding.

"Master, should we wake him up?" asked the waiter.

"No need. I'll wait for him here, you better get some rest." Damian said casually.

"Master..." The servant said doubtfully.

"I've made up my mind, I'll let him go. It's the only way to make amends and pay for it." Damian said firmly. He had made up his mind to free Tom from the shackles in the palace he had guarded for hundreds of years.

The harmony of the song dances with the sadness and emotion that lingers in the room.

The maid was sad. If that person leaves, what about our master?

He slowly retreated to the door. Before closing it, the maid asked quietly.

"Master, won't you regret it?" Ask the servant to convince his master in the decision his master has made.

'Regret...?' Damian stared at the lightning flashing across the night sky, casting his reflection on the wall.

It didn't matter if it was him in werewolf form, or in human form, whoever approached him in the end was just a shadow.

"What more could I hope for..." he answered slowly.

Tom felt like she had been asleep for a very long time.

Since he left Wolfie, this was the first time he had slept so peacefully and quietly.
