Upon arriving in Trifas, Kaoru and Jeanne decided to rest at an inn.
There, Kaoru explained that there was a major problem with this Holy Grail War.
Jeanne, who had thought the conflict was only between the Red and Black factions, was shocked to learn that there would be a third faction.
The reason Kaoru was sent to assist her was to deal with this third faction.
Jeanne, who was initially reluctant to believe it, was forced to accept the truth because Kaoru's presence was undeniable proof.
Someone who could easily use a Reality Marble without being detected by three high-ranking Servants was certainly not ordinary.
With a heavy heart, Jeanne finally decided to invite Kaoru to join the neutral faction.
This was exactly what Kaoru had been waiting for.
If he had suggested the idea himself, Jeanne might have rejected it due to her strict adherence to rules and discipline, making it difficult for her to join any faction.
But if Jeanne herself decided to form a faction, that was a different story.
Jeanne then asked for Kaoru's help in dealing with the illegal faction, while she would handle the anomalies in the two main factions.
Having received Jeanne's approval, Kaoru accepted the role, though he still needed additional help.
He intended to summon a Servant as a safeguard.
Even though Kaoru didn't possess a magical circuit, he had studied the circuits of Shirou and Rin and was confident he could disguise his Honkai energy to resemble magical energy.
Jeanne, knowing that Kaoru wasn't a Ruler-class Servant with certain authorities over other Servants, approved of his plan to summon a Servant, even though she didn't know how Kaoru would supply the magical energy to ensure a successful summoning.
Jeanne also wasn't concerned that Kaoru would resort to cruel methods like human sacrifice or other atrocities to perform the summoning.
After assigning their tasks, Jeanne followed Kaoru to observe the summoning process of his Servant.
---
In a secluded forest.
Kaoru drew the summoning circle using ancient runes he had learned from Scathach.
Seeing the mysterious rune formation, even a Servant of Jeanne's caliber could only stand speechless with her mouth agape.
However, despite the impressive summoning circle he created, Kaoru, being too lazy to buy a catalyst and forgetting to ask Shirou for one, could only use himself as the catalyst for the summoning.
Kaoru channeled his Honkai energy into the summoning circle, which began to react.
Each rune started to glow, floating in the air and forming a unique pattern, followed by the appearance of a glowing orb.
The orb began to take the shape of a human figure, and suddenly a voice emerged from the figure.
"Greetings, Master of Chaldea... wait a moment... this isn't Chaldea?"
A man appeared, wearing a robe woven with the finest fabrics. Though he appeared modest, his long hair shimmered with rainbow hues under the moonlight.
"Makoto-san... I don't know why, but my instincts as a woman are telling me to punch this guy in the face!!"
Jeanne, who had been mesmerized by Kaoru's ability to use runes, suddenly felt the urge to punch the face of the Servant Kaoru had summoned.
And Kaoru, recognizing the Servant, agreed with Jeanne's statement.
Merlin, the Flower Magician, the one responsible for much of the chaos in the Arthurian legend.
"Wait, wait, wait, Master and Holy Maiden... I don't know why you both seem to want to hit me, but at least let me introduce myself first!!"
Sensing something was amiss, Merlin quickly deduced the cause.
A woman who, with just one glance, he knew was the Holy Maiden of Orleans, Jeanne D'Arc.
And another, whose beauty rivaled his own, whom he instinctively knew had summoned him.
Merlin could feel a dark aura emanating from the two of them, as if they wanted to beat him to a pulp.
As he pleaded for permission to introduce himself as Merlin, the wizard who had aided King Arthur on her journey through life...
'Yeah, yeah, and you're also the one responsible for Arthur having a child named Mordred.'
In his heart, Kaoru kept disparaging Merlin, knowing that this mischievous wizard was notorious for causing trouble.
But in the end, Kaoru chose to ignore Merlin's negative traits, especially considering his expertise in illusion magic.
After assuring Jeanne that Merlin was indeed the real Merlin and not an impostor or fraud, Jeanne also decided to hold back her desire to punch one of the most famous wizards.
Kaoru then explained the current situation to Merlin, informing him that they were in a somewhat problematic Holy Grail War.
Kaoru asked Merlin to use his abilities to deceive the illegal faction and let them face themselves.
Merlin, initially thinking that his Master was overly arrogant for wanting to face an entire faction alone, was silenced when he sensed the quality and quantity of Kaoru's energy.
From the sheer amount and quality of energy alone, Merlin realized that Kaoru was more terrifying than even Morgan Le Fay.
At that moment, he understood that thanks to Kaoru's summoning, he could now use his full power.
'How terrifying, it's impossible for there to be a human like this Master.'
Merlin now categorized Kaoru as one of the monsters he had encountered in his long life.
Yet instead of feeling fear, Merlin grew more intrigued by what he could achieve with Kaoru as his Master.
The three of them decided to return to the city to rest.
---
Some time after Kaoru and the others left the forest...
A pale, gaunt middle-aged man with a terrifying expression dismounted from his horse.
"The mana was strange, but also terrifying!!!"
The man looked at one of his hands, still trembling from the sudden surge of magical energy.
"Darnic!! Order the Masters to be on full alert, and command the homunculi to patrol the entire city!!!"
After issuing his orders, the man mounted his horse and disappeared into the dark of night.
Meanwhile, at the inn, two cunning men were plotting a wicked plan to deal with their targets.
"Hehehehe, no wonder I was summoned as a Servant. We really are alike, Master-san!!"
"Hehehehe, but I'm not as cunning as you to come up with such an evil idea, Merlin-san!!!"
Throughout the night, the entire inn was filled with the sound of repulsive yet sinister laughter.
The guests even experienced nightmares just from hearing the sound of that laughter.
The next morning, Kaoru woke up and immediately checked his prized possession, fearing that Merlin had turned his Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon into the Mariana Trench.
Seeing that his treasure was safe, Kaoru sighed in relief.
Then, Kaoru woke Merlin, who was sleeping soundly, by kicking him out of bed.
After freshening up, Kaoru headed downstairs to try Romania's traditional breakfast, but a peculiar sight left him slightly surprised.
He approached Jeanne, who had already started breakfast, and asked her.
"Jeanne-san, it seems like you and the other guests couldn't sleep last night. What happened?"
Seeing Jeanne and the other guests with dark circles under their eyes, looking exhausted and sleepy, Kaoru was confused.
"Kaoru-san, there were many evil spirits wandering around last night, and their laughter caused everyone to have nightmares and not be able to sleep. Even after I prayed for several hours, the spirits' sinister laughter didn't stop until dawn."
Hearing Jeanne's explanation, Kaoru began to sweat.
"Kaoru-san seemed to sleep soundly, as expected from you, Kaoru-san."
'So blindingly pure!!!!!!'
Knowing the real culprit behind the sleepless night, Kaoru was deeply troubled by Jeanne's look of admiration.
He didn't dare reveal the truth, fearing he'd get beaten up by the Holy Maiden.
"Wow, traditional Romanian breakfast, such a rare treat!!"
Suddenly, Merlin appeared and began devouring the breakfast as if he hadn't eaten in days.
"Master, this is so delicious, you should try it!"
Completely unfazed by the sleepless guests, Merlin ate his breakfast with ease.
Kaoru wanted to punch Merlin's innocent face, but doing so would only arouse Jeanne's suspicion and cause more problems.
In the end, Kaoru chose to discuss their next plan. He was considering summoning an additional Servant, but was a bit concerned about how Alaya and others would react if the balance was disrupted too much.
But then, surprisingly, a notification popped up on his smartphone.
[Gaia: Makoto Kaoru-san, if you want to summon more than one Servant, feel free to do so. Alaya and Root have also agreed to set a limit where you can summon up to three Servants, as long as you don't destroy the universe you're currently in or wipe out all of humanity.
Warm regards from Gaia-chan!!!]
Seeing the message, Kaoru felt confident about the success of the mission. After breakfast, Kaoru invited Jeanne and Merlin to enjoy a leisurely tour of the ancient city of Trifas.
