Give Me That Demon!

A few hours later, Draco was sitting against a tree trunk, holding a cigarette with his lips. Nothing hit better than a nice smoke after some fun, especially after becoming awakened, since cigarettes no longer affected his health in any way.

Putting his hands behind his head, Draco glanced into the sky, mumbling one word with his mouth. Instantly, a screen materialized before his eyes, as he once again got to behold his new, fresh skill. The feeling was quite intoxicating, but he really didn't know how to act now that [Harem System] proved to be effective.

He was never a guy that strived for power, it was just that he thought awakening meant more opportunities and riches. Of course, that was true, but, considering how overpowered his awakening skill was, he truly felt lost. Could he even consider living a laid-back and fun life with such power on his shoulders?

"Ah... I am thinking too much. No one even knows that I have this skill, so why should I tell anyone? So that I will have to live up to people's expectations and become some kind of hero?" Draco chuckled to himself, lighting up another cigarette. "No, thank you. I will just continue enjoying my life to the fullest."

Smiling at the statisfaction of his own inner monologue, Draco pressed onto the description of [Shadow Monarch]. It truly was one powerful skill.

-

[Skill: {SSS}Shadow Monarch(Level:1)]

[Description: A skill that enables its user to extract shadows from the corpses and add them to his army. It is a power to directly control the dead ones, for personal shadows are unable to resist the master's commands]

[Army: 0/1]

[Upgrade Condition: Kill 0/100 Awakened Creatures]

'To control the undead? A bit creepy, huh?' Draco thought, removing the screen from his vision. He had spent quite some thinking as to what to do now. Should he reveal this skill to Alice or not? Actually, should he even do anything?

"No... I am so dumb." Draco rose back to his feet, puffing out a cloud of smoke. "If that dungeon breaks, then many beautiful women might die, and we don't want that. We never want that."

Draco had seen the devastation caused by a rank 2 dungeon with his own two eyes, so he wasn't someone to underestimate them at all. The destruction and death; it was something Draco wasn't so fond of recalling, so he finally made a decision in his mind. With newly gained determination, Draco rose from the ground and strolled toward Captain's Alice headquarters.

Fortunately, it didn't take too long for him to find her and the security let him into the building without too much hassle, as it seemed they had been notified of his possible appearance. Draco knocked on the door and walked inside.

"It hasn't been that long, cadet Draco," Alice spoke upon seeing the dark-haired teenager walk inside. "Have you perhaps had some kind of enlightenment?" she added, gesturing for Draco to take a seat on the chair opposite of her.

"That's correct, miss. I have been enlightened in the form of...something of exceptional beauty." Draco answered, a picture of Helena's naked body appearing in his mind.

"Well, since you seem like you have already thought about it, would you mind showing off your skill?" Captain Alice asked politely, yet her voice remained as cold as it always has been. "I have an important meeting after a few hours, so I would appreciate it if we don't stretch this conversation with unnecessary chat."

"Sure, sure, captain." Draco waved with his hand, then pretended to frown a bit. "However, my skill...is a bit complicated to demonstrate. I respect your time a lot, but my skill requires some conditions that only you might be able to conduct."

Alice frowned slightly. "Just spit it out, cadet, for god's sake."

'You have to get naked.' Draco answered the question in his mind before putting on a serious expression. "I assume you have some demon corpses in the laboratory or somewhere else... to properly show off what I can do, I need those dead demons."

"You need corpses?" Captain Alice glanced at Draco skeptically, but seeing his serious expression, she sighed and stood up, dialing a number. As she turned around, Draco's lips rose upwards. That was another reason why he wanted to expose his ability since he could utilize fellow awakened for demon corpses and create his own little army.

Well, maybe not a little. He actually still didn't know about this [Shadow Monarch] a lot. From what he heard from other awakened, skills could only be upgraded by killing awakened creatures. However, considering that [Shadow Monarch] was level 1, the condition of 100 dead awakened creatures seemed somewhat absurd. Maybe it was normal, he should ask Alice later.

Furthermore, Draco didn't even what leveling up this skill might cause. Perhaps the number of possible shadows might not even increase. Draco just knew too little for now. Time would show. Well, anyway, this was probably the best way to acquire the strongest possible companion, so he didn't have any hard feelings.

Half an hour later, Draco was already standing in another room that looked like a gym, and five different corpses were presented in front of him. Captain Alice was standing a few feet away, intently staring at him. Even though they were dead, demon corpses were still valuable for creating armor and weapons, so she carefully watched every Draco's action.

"Are these... lesser devils?" Draco scanned the monsters, stopping on two that especially caught his eye. Lesser devils were stronger than simple demons. If Draco was tasked to compare, a demon would be like a newly awakened, while a lesser devil would be someone who had cleared his first dungeon and leveled up his skill at least once.

"You are right, except for one." Captain Alice pointed towards one of the monsters who had previously caught Draco's attention. "This is a greater devil, and it is someone I have hunted myself."

The greater devil was a huge bird that had sharp claws and sturdy-looking feathers. Draco would try to better describe its appearance if it had not been burned into oblivion. It was surprising they had kept this monster, considering that there was barely anything left of it.

'Well, here goes nothing.' Draco stretched out his hand towards the bird, already dreaming of navigating it within the sky, as they soared towards the moon.

"Arise," Draco said, his eyes turning entirely dark for a moment, before once again regaining their previous shade. It was a failure, Draco could feel that he was too weak to control this bird's shadow. It... hadn't accepted him.

Sighing, feeling his dreams of flying shatter, Draco glanced toward the other monster that has caught his eyes. It was a huge monster that looked like a bull, yet had two horns. It was probably like 7 feet tall and had a muscular build. It looked extremely intimidating.

"Cadet, what are you doing?" Captain Alice asked, impatient.

"Nothing, miss." Draco grinned, glancing at her. "I am just making sure you are looking properly." Then, Draco stretched his hand out and his expression turned hollow. "Arise."

Then, something peculiar happened. Shadows extended from beneath the ground, latching onto the monster's body, covering it, and plunging its body into darkness. The shadows jumped in joy, continuously grabbing onto the monster's body, until it was fully black.

Captain Alice's eyes shook when she saw the lesser devil move its finger, as it slowly rose from the ground, until eventually standing at its intimating height of 7 feet. Draco stood beside the creature, smiling, looking more like a demon than the shadow itself.

"Welcome to the team!" Draco shouted, full of joy, while Alice stared at the scene in bewilderment. It seemed like she had to cancel all her upcoming appointments.
