Business In Bed

Inside Xia Jiannan's room roughly an hour and a half ago...

Xia Jiannan sat on his bed, leaning against the headboard while holding a file in his hand.

Seeing that he could not find sleep, the hardworking and diligent CEO decided to just get some work done.

Time is a precious commodity. It would be better to spend it by doing something worthwhile.

Xia Jiannan was just too conscientious to shirk from doing his duty as the Xia Corporation's CEO. With thousands of people working under him, it would not be good to slack off and let them down.

He had already put off half a day's load of work because of his earlier circumstance. Now that he had the time, he opted to get, if not all, most of the things settled before he went back to the office by tomorrow.

In his hand was the proposal from the Lu Corporation for a joint venture project to be discussed in tomorrow's meeting. If this project turned out to be successful, the Xia Corporation would surely rise by leaps and bounds.

As he was busy with his office works, Xia Jiannan had not noticed that someone entered his room stealthily.

He only felt the cold wind blowing into his room through the open balcony doors and he shook it off as nothing but a figment of his imagination.

Wait!

Didn't he locked the balcony doors before he went to bed?

Why would it be opened right now?

Noticing that something was amiss, Xia Jiannan put down the file he was reading on the bed and he immediately turned off the lamp before retrieving a gun from his bedside cabinet.

"Who's there?"

To think that there would be someone so courageous as to infiltrate the heavily guarded grounds of the Xia Family Old Residence.

'I guess it is high time we reinforce the security here,' he thought while trying to probe the intruder's location.

"Come out!"

A silhouette of a woman soon came into view, the moonlight shining on her accentuating her beauty.

It was then followed by a soft voice that he was all-too familiar with, "It's good that you are not entirely defenseless."

"Miss Rouxi? What are you doing here?"

Xia Jiannan's gun was still pointed at the woman, not daring to get careless lest he got done in.

In all honesty, Xia Jiannan knew nothing about her besides the fact that she was affiliated with the Wang Family. Heck, he did not even know her real name yet!

Not minding the gun pointed her way, Wang Rouxi stepped towards Xia Jiannan's direction, the lack of light could not impede her from pinpointing his rough location.

It was as though she had a night vision for her eyes!

Noting his cautious stance, Wang Rouxi nodded her head to commend Xia Jiannan for having a good self-defense mindset.

"I came here to look for you."

Wang Rouxi said that as she raised her hands up in surrender.

Even so, Xia Jiannan refused to put his gun down.

"Why?"

"Couldn't I come here just to see you?"

Wang Rouxi's response caught Xia Jiannan off guard and in that momentary lapse, she had already pinned him down on the bed.

"Don't get distracted." She reprimanded him. "I'm here to do some business with you, Mr. Xia."

Xia Jiannan could only nod his head as he knew that nothing could be done anymore. His life was in Wang Rouxi's hands. If she wished to kill him right now, he could only accept his fate.

Surprisingly, after Wang Rouxi neutralized his gun, she let him off and sat herself on his bed.

"Get up! Or do you want us to do business in bed?"

Xia Jiannan could hear the seriousness in Wang Rouxi's tone so he immediately sat cross-legged in front of her.

After hesitating for a few seconds, he plucked up his courage to ask, "To visit here at this late hour, what business does Miss Rouxi want to do with me?"

But instead of getting an answer from Wang Rouxi, Xia Jiannan vaguely saw her starting to unbutton the uniform she was wearing!

The only light in the room came from the moonlight passing through the windows and he was actually glad that he could only faintly see her outline.

Just as he was heaving a sigh of relief, Xia Jiannan heard Wang Rouxi say...

"Turn on the light."
