The scholarship

Flourish happily ran home with the letter in her hands,her dream has finally come to pass,she was going to Musical high not just to be a rockstar but to meet her crush Lewis who is already a musician.At Eight,he has started singing all to the praise of his father who is also a musician, a well know one for that.

"why the smile,did you win a lottery?"her mother asked as she saw the wide smile on her daughter's face

"guess what mum"Flourish said as she stood infront of her mother grinning from ear to ear

"you know I'm not good at guessing"Her mother said as she stared at the happy looking Flourish

"I got the scholarship and I've been admitted"she said happily as she shoved the letter into her mother's palms

"wow,my baby will soon become a rockstar"her mother said happily but it all died down at the sight of her stepfather

"what all those noise about"her semi step drunk father said as he stared at the two ladies in front of him

"nothing Dainel,she was just telling me how nice she was treated work today"Her mother quickly said as she carefully hid the letter under her dress

"got any money?"he asked no one in particular

"yes,on the table"her mother quickly said and then he dashed inside

"but mum,I've told you to stop giving that drunkard of a husband a penny"Flourish said a little bit annoyed

"I know hun,but if I don't give him,he will take all my money from me forcefully "her mum said trying to give her daughter reasons why she kept doing what she was doing

"I dont really know where you got this man from,wish dad would have been here"Flourish said in a sad tone

"I wanted you to have that fatherly feeling that you supposed to have and trust me I didn't know he was like this If not I would have remained single"

"he should just die"She said with an eye roll

"I heard that little witch,I dont have your stupid time right now if not you will be on your knees begging me to forgive you"he said with a small smile

"bastard"Flourish cursed as she went upstairs

"did you just hear your daughter?,I dont really blame her, I blame you for not training that useless daughter of yours"he ranted before heading out

"drunk fool"Flourish mother cursed as she watched him leave

"close the door behind you mr"She shouted at him

"Eva,guess what "Flourish said as her friend picked the call

"what is it bitch"Eve said over the phone

"I got the scholarship"Flourish said

"Are you playing pranks on me?cos I know that a dummy like you cant pass normal school exam and then gets a scholarship. It's not April yet baby girl,so give me another gist cos you suck at pranking people"Eva said with an eye roll

"I'm serious Eva,I got the scholarship and I'm going to start school next week"Flourish said sounding serious

"ok,now I know you are not trying to prank me .Oh my gosh I'm so happy for you"Eva screamed

"you are so dramatic, can you quit screaming in my ears cos I might get deaf soon if you dont"Flourish said with an eye roll"

"will call,you later my rockstar"Eva said in a secuding tone before hanging up

"such a character"Flourish said as she stared at her phone screen before she laid down to sleep
