In a luxurious condominium, next to G-town.
All the houses in this condominium were high-end houses, and the cheapest house cost tens of millions of Brezik credits. The mansions were huge, and in the center of the lake, cloned fish were there, fish that in the outside world were already extinct.
The climate of the condominium was artificially controlled. While the rest of the country was facing a harsh winter, the people in the condominium would be spending their days in a pleasant spring.
A black car drove softly through the streets of the condominium as if looking for something. Inside the car, four people were looking at the houses with different expressions.
Jimmy, the driver, had a worried expression on his face, afraid of what would happen next. Gustav had a focused look on his face, wanting to eliminate any chance of making a mistake. Margot had a bored look on her face and was playing with the chip in her head, reading over the latest news. Elliot, however, had a blank stare, as if his soul had left his body.
Elliot was doing his best not to lose himself in his anger at this moment, so he was consciously trying to lock all the emotions within himself so that he would not lose control.
Elliot initially planned to stay with Stella, but she said she wanted some time alone, and so that there would be no mistakes in today's operation, Elliot chose to come with Margot and Gustav. They stole a car on the way, and Jimmy would be the driver. Bruja also wanted to come, but Elliot thought it best to leave her at the hospital so that Stella wouldn't be alone. And also so that she could keep an eye on Tin.
It was already night outside, and the condominium was completely silent. In this place, only businessmen and people of power in Brezik society had the right to get a mansion. Margot had mixed feelings about these houses.
Before, she hated it and thought it was a waste of land and money when she saw such large mansions. But now that she had a last name thanks to her brother and especially, thanks to Elliot, Margot wished for a mansion like that. She wanted to have a more modern flying car, expensive handbags, and clothes. She wanted to be able to wake up after 10 in the morning, to have maids serving her food, and preparing her bath. She wanted to be pampered, she wanted to be cared for, but at the same time, that feeling that all of this is mere futility didn't go away.
Gustav was not calm enough to have time to think about other things. He was hired as a security guard for the Amom family in theory, but he knew that the time would come when he would have to get his hands dirty, especially now that Elliot was at rock bottom. Jimmy shared the same thought as Gustav, but it was even worse for him.
He didn't get a last name, but only receives a salary, being a good salary, but not enough for him to risk spending the rest of his life in prison. But how does he say he wants to resign to a man who kills without changing his expression? Jimmy was afraid of being arrested, but he was even more afraid of being the target of Elliot's bad mood.
Elliot didn't think anything highly of these mansions. He saw them as big, expensive houses, and that's it. Elliot has only one desire, but it can be counted as two desires. He wants security to live in this world without fearing anything, and he wants his family to have a good life, and for nothing to worry them about. Other than this, the rest are just tools for his final purpose. Money? Necessary, but Elliot wouldn't kill himself working just to have money. Women? Always nice to have the warmth of a woman's body in your bed on a cold night, but Elliot saw them as just that, a momentary warmth. Power? Influence? Just tools to build his empire means to his ends, and never, ever will be his goals.
These are the reasons why although Elliot finds these houses beautiful, he doesn't think anything more of them. Looking out the window, Elliot finally found the house he was looking for.
"Jimmy, that's our target for today." Elliot said.
Jimmy nodded and drove to the garage of the house. Because he had a family and didn't have the means to protect them, Jimmy put a mask on his face, but Elliot, Gustav, or Margot, cared little about retaliation from anyone. Police? This place is home to some of the richest men and women in the country. These people have certainly made a fortune in fraud and illicit deals, why would they want the police here? The only police that came here were the ones who had an agreement with the residents of this condominium.
Elliot walked slowly, his cane was lost in the restaurant, and his gun was nowhere to be seen, so he grabbed some kind of knife and came over. Margot was using a pair of black pistols, and Gustav had a pair of brass knuckles in his hands, but they had plasma on their sharp points, showing they were just as deadly as Margot's pistols.
The security guard, perhaps because he saw the arrival of strangers in his boss's garage, came out of a smaller house next to the mansion. Just as he was about to start saying something, Elliot's eyes flashed with madness and he threw the knife toward the security guard's head with full force. The security guard didn't have time to react, and thanks to Elliot's newfound ability, it was impossible for him to miss anything from that distance.
Margot, Gustav, and Jimmy, who was still in the car, stared dumbfounded at Elliot. Gustav looked at the security guard with pity, and although he wanted to ask Elliot not to kill innocent people, he knew that his place as a subordinate was to abide by all the decisions of his boss. Jimmy firmed up his decision never to go against Elliot's orders. Margot was more direct in her words.
"That was a good shot, Elli. But I thought we didn't kill innocent people?" She asked.
"When did I say that?" Elliot asked as he bent down and took the knife from the dead guard's head.
"Well, you didn't say it, but your actions did. When we got here, for example, we just tied up the security guards, but none of them were killed." Margot replied.
"They are alive because they were smart enough and surrendered. This security guard would not surrender, he would want to fight and would end up alerting everyone in our path, so he was a nuisance, and nuisances are enemies, and enemies must be killed." Elliot replied as he wiped the knife on the dead security guard's clothes.
Although a bit sickly, Margot still agreed with her head, as she knew that what Elliot said was just the truth. Gustav would still like to argue but preferred to remain silent.
Gustav carried the body to a corner so that they wouldn't draw even more attention to themselves, since the floor was stained with blood. Margot, Gustav, and Elliot entered the house through the back door. Since it was a place that in theory, no one would be stupid enough to try to rob, all the doors were unlocked, and the security guards were there just for show.
Who would think of robbing the mansion of a retired army general? Nobody would be dumb enough to do that, right? Right? Maybe they had underestimated the human capacity a little...
As soon as they entered, the three of them noticed that they were in the laundry area. A maid, who had some dirty clothes on a cart, looked surprised at the invaders. Noticing that they were armed, the maid turned pale with fear, and just as she was about to scream, Elliot gestured for her to be silent, and she obediently did so.
"Tonight is a beautiful evening, don't you think so, Lady?" Elliot asked in a low tone approaching the maid softly.
Noticing Elliot's approach, the maid became tense and feared for her life. Her body stiffened, but she managed to hold her ground.
"Y-yes sir, it's a b-beautiful night tonight." She said.
"It would be a shame, on such a beautiful night, for someone to do something bad, don't you think, my lady?" Elliot asked as he arrived in front of the maid.
The maid quickly lowered her head. Noticing that they were not wearing masks, but still came in through the back doors and asked her to keep quiet, meant that they were not invited to be here today. Either they were enemies of their boss, or they did not fear their boss enough to hide who they were. In any case, that meant she would die, no matter what decision she made.
"Y-yes sir, that would be a shame. But fortunately, I wouldn't be here to see it. After all, I had a bad time tonight and didn't leave my room." The maid shrewdly replied.
Elliot was surprised for a moment, but quickly understood the implications in the maid's words. She was saying that she has seen nothing, knows nothing, and will see nothing. Elliot admired the woman's intelligence for a moment and nodded.
"Well, if the lady is not feeling well, there is nothing to be done. I hope you get better soon. Let's go." Elliot said.
The maid continued to look down, not daring to look at the intruders. Margot was in doubt for a moment, but soon let it go. Gustav was still tense, so he walked right by the maid, hoping she would do something and he could act before Elliot claimed the maid's life like some evil god of death.
They were now in the kitchen, but there was no one there. Elliot already felt the pain in his leg increasing, so he decided to send Gustav and Margot to look for the master of the house, and he stayed in the kitchen for a few moments so that his pain would subside a little. Elliot took advantage of being in the kitchen and looked for something to eat, but all he found were protein bars and army rations. Despite a frown, Elliot ate. It had been a few days since Elliot had eaten well, and because of this, he was very hungry.
While eating the tasteless protein bars, Elliot saw that same maid come into the kitchen. As soon as she noticed Elliot, she turned pale and bowed her head. If she could choose a moment to go back in time, she would go back 30 seconds in the past just to beat herself up! Just as she was trying to go back, she heard Elliot's voice.
"Weren't you sick, lady? What are you doing in the kitchen?"
"I-I was just going to my room, which is next to the kitchen. I apologize if I disturbed you, sir." She replied.
How could she imagine that criminals would not only break into her boss's house but even steal his food!
"Come here, have a protein bar with me." Elliot tapped the chair next to hers.
Although she was shaking from head to toe, she still did as Elliot asked. Elliot then asked her to tell her life story, and she obediently did so. As she spoke, she heard shouts and heavy footsteps upstairs in the mansion. The already pale maid became even paler, like a ghost.
Elliot cared little about the sounds coming from elsewhere, he was focused on his meal and the stories the maid was telling him. Two minutes passed, and soon Gustav returned. Gustav was covered in blood, and his eyes seemed to have lost some of their former lusters.
"Elli- aham, boss, Margot has found the target, she's asking you to go find her." Gustav said.
'You should have cleaned yourself up before coming here, Gustav. Look how scared Lady Page is. She was telling me that the two personal security guards, the ones who always stay by the owner's side, one of them got married last week. And the other one became a father only two months ago. Isn't that fascinating?" Elliot asked.
Gustav turned pale and looked at both hands in astonishment and disgust at himself. He consoled himself several times, telling himself that this happened because the guards reacted, but he couldn't erase the guilt he felt. The maid, Page, almost fainted remembering her co-workers. Elliot just watched everything with genuine curiosity, watching Gustav and Page's reactions.
"So, if you'll excuse me, Miss Page, I have some business to attend to. Let's talk some other day." Elliot said as he slowly stood up and left the kitchen with Gustav, who was still pale.
"I hope I never see you again, sir." Page said in a low voice as he walked quickly to his room.

The Mental Health impacts of psychological torture can be devastating, as the victim constantly lives under an intense state of emotional distress.
If it was not clear that Elliot is not a hero before, I think there is no doubt now. Don't expect a simple, light story in this novel. Elliot is a criminal, and he is sinking deeper and deeper into the vortex of darkness that the world throws under him.
That's all for today, until the next chapter!
