The Queen

When coming along with the Servants when they said that they would want to talk with me, I held slight expectations in my heart of what that moment could be.

From just plain old ambushing me to which I would return with a vengeance, to rewarding me for some reason or the other.

Several other small scenarios were cooked up in my mind as I idly watched the three servants use their weapons with incredible skill.

Having noted their names within my mind, I learnt who they were respectively while pairing their weapons and their names.

Calliope was the first one I met and was probably the youngest one when taking account how the others treated her.

Wielding the gigantic spiked balls with skill, she was similar to those spinning tops that continually spun around when they were loosed from their strings.

Except in this case, she herself was the centrifugal force as the result of it, the spiked balls destroyed quite literally anything in their way.

I would not like to be at the receiving end of those spiked black balls after seeing the Armored Shrimp in their way get reduced to a meat slushy paste.

It was disgusting to watch a large spiked ball of sorts carried by its myriad arms turn into a mysterious slushy.

Shaking my head at the thoughts, I turned my attention to the other one.

Euterpe, was the bow user and was covered in the same white, golden themed cloth around their body while having the large golden bracelets.

Following that she was the antithesis of the brutal fighting style of the incredibly destructive wrecking ball user Calliope.

Flitting around like a ghost that has no boundaries, her footsteps lightly landed on anything that could be a platform and flew off of it, drawing arrows of magic on the bow before loosing them.

Funnily enough, the arrows she loosed weren't exactly arrows than they were magic wires.

Firing blue wires through the air, the moment they turned red, anything that touched them or was in their way was ruthlessly decimated to the point that they were nothing but broken patches of rubble.

Grabbing against a ledge with her legs, incredibly difficult since she was on a vertical surface, she pulled her arms back and shot the rancid rat horde slowly making their way over, exploding in their mist and eradicating any of the pink rats that scurried past the red lines.

In fact, now that I think about it, the final one, the oldest one of them all was uniquely different from the both of them as well.

Wielding bladed tonfa's which were basically weapons that ran alongside the length of the forearm, she fought like an incredibly skilled and experienced brawler.

Stabbing twice followed by a devastating uppercut, the bladed Tonfa's sliced open the masked face of the Mutineer before it was able to swing it's gigantic anchor it had found from who knows where.

Following the attack by dashing at the Pirate captain that was shooting the hand held cannon which was quite literally a cannon shooting cannon balls.

She spun through the air, slicing through the solid steel cannon ball and bore a straight hole through the large [Pirate Captain].

Seeing the servants attack the monsters with incredible skill, I wondered how much experience they had since I was learning a few things just by watching.

Of course they were all technically older than me since they have been here since the fall of the Kingdom of Sevallia that was said to have fallen several centuries ago so they had an absolute ton of experience.

But if they weren't involved with time shenanigans, due to their actions I could infer that they were probably not older than me.

How I reached that conclusion I have no idea, but as I admired their actions we finally reached the lighthouse.

And despite being somewhat of a superhuman, I would not like to climb the Lighthouse another time.

Just looking at the tower which spanned high up to the sky I felt dizzy.

And climbing it made me even more dizzy.

Of course, after enduring the incredibly dangerous events of a quite literal hordes of semi undead creatures attacking me with an incredible vengeance I was slightly okay with enduring uncomforting situations.

The situation at hand here however is not one I would like to experience again.

Dizzying heights which spanned all the way to the sky, using a mixture of pulley systems, rotting staircases, stone stair cases, missing floors and several other things to climb up the building that has definitely seen better days.

It was a given that I would get tired of it.

It was one thing to endure in a fight where I could expel my uncomfortableness onto my enemies, it was another when I had no way to vent.

But nevertheless I endured it all, mentally enduring it all soon enough I reached the top of the lighthouse.

With the glass dome which held the light being snuffed out, I curiously stared at it but refrained from asking questions.

Following the servants, Kleio warned me "Be warned Slade, show a modicum of respect to the Queen."

Hearing that new piece of information about them, I nonetheless had to prepare myself when the Servants moved the thick wooden doors.

And as I prepared myself, I stared at the tall women that stood stalwartly against the calm winds.

Framed by the sun in the sky and the undulating sea behind her, the helmet covering her face, the Queen turned to the source of the sound and saw the three servants exit the door, following them was me.

Glancing my way for not more than a second she spoke in a lilting tone.

"You are my son now."

'What'

Hearing those words, I felt the incredible need to take off my head to check if my brain and ears were in their correct places.

Because who in their right mind just decided that they would adopt someone when they just saw them.

...I guess that's what orphanages are for but I'm a grown man! That's an incredibly different manner!

But yeah, it was a safe bet to say that my mind was confused.

It hadn't even been a few seconds that we had seen each other as well.

Erasing my previous expectations, I couldn't help but try and open my mouth to try and find out what the hell she was talking about.

"What do you mean?"

"You are my son." Tilting her head, she repeated those words.

But no! I already heard that but what the hell do you mean!?

While mulling over the confusing turmoil boiling in my heart, the Servants seemed to mirror my confusion as they stared at the Queen with an inscrutable gaze.

Glancing at each other, a slight hope bloomed in my heart that they would ask the Queen what the hell she was talking about.

"If that is your wish my Queen."

'...What.'

Having felt like my head had been hit in the back by a sledgehammer twice now, I felt more confusion.

'No seriously what.'

Staring at the Servants with a gaze that contained a mixture of confusion, confusion, betrayal and even more confusion they at least were kind enough to sense my confusion and acknowledge it.

The problem was that they did nothing to solve that confusion.

Mulling over my thoughts, the Queen turned back to staring at the sea blankly.

Blankly gazing at the back of the woman tat suddenly decided to call me her son and just turned back to staring at the sea, the Servants ambushed me from behind and brought me somewhere.

And without resistance I let them.

Bringing me to a large empty room, they closed the door behind them and kneeled towards me.

And even though it was flattering, I was a bit to confused to admire the act of... something.

So even though I was still confused, I couldn't help but ask the mostly thought question.

"What the fuck is happening?"

Hearing my question, the servants glanced at each other once again, unseen conversations being transmitted through their eyes.

Staring at me with their eyes framed by the slits of their eyes, Kleio opened her mouth. "Heir of the Sevallian Islands Slade, that is your designation now."

Hearing those words, instead of my mind being cleared like I expected, even more questions instead rose up to replaced the dominating question in my mind.

I much preferred the battle of blood and guts now despite the disgusting nature, it was a lot more simple than this.

But nevertheless, as all things do, they all had a discernable cause and effect.

The problem here was that I had no idea what either of them were.

Having those thoughts dominate my head, the Servants nevertheless explained themself.

---

It seemed that I was a sort of Prince of the Kingdom of Sevallia.

And despite not looking like the type to concern herself over things like this, the Queen seemed to want me to continue the heritage of the islands.

The reason why was probably due to me receiving the heritage and help of the last king of the Sevallian kingdom.

And since I had also shown to be someone with incredible combat prowess the Queen seems to have decided to make me the last heir of the kingdom to continue to the legacy.

The fact that the Queen also seems to have the intention to lend her own legacy in lieu with the King's. (Although I hadn't actually received it) didn't change however.

But it did change my stance of the confusion in my mind.

I mean, even if I was confused, what harm did it do to just accept the random generosity given to me? All I needed to do was somehow pay the woman back when given the chance.

But nevertheless, as the servants left the room, they were also confused upon why the Queen had decided to make the Accidental the heir of the kingdom.

But as the Servants of the Queen, despite the close friendship that they shared, it was not possible for them to pry into the circumstances of the Queen.

Once again feeling how close yet far the Queen was again in their hearts, the servants wallowed in their silence as the Queen silently stared at the sea.
