I felt warm, and I saw a bright light though my eyes were closed, I had to shield them. I quickly opened my eyes to see where I was, I saw nothing but a tree that seemed a bit withered, and the ground I was standing on. There seemed to be an edge of the floor that appeared to just drop off to nowhere. I thought maybe my eyes needed to adjust to the bright light of the sun. I chose to walk to what appeared to be the edge and looked down and saw nothing but a black void, the ground I was on was falling. I panicked for a moment thinking I was going to die until I realized it wasn't falling, it was floating. I thought that would be impossible, that defies all natural laws, but it's happening, I'm stranded on a floating island.
I was scared, I didn't know what to do, I knew I had to survive but I didn't know how I was going to do it. After taking a few minutes to calm myself down and clear my head I decided to go explore the island a bit more. I walked past the tree and decided to go explore over the hills on the other side. I wandered around for a while and saw no sign of other life, I was beginning to become restless and aggravated with my situation, as I was about to turn around and give up, I saw what seemed to be a dark spot on the top of a hill, I thought maybe it was a mine and there were other people that could maybe help me leave this dark abyss. It took me about 10 minutes to reach what I thought was a mine, but it was a hole like the ground had sunk in and somehow now collapsed the hill. I saw what seemed like a rotted bed and a chest right next to it. I got curious so I decided to climb down into it.
There was this strange writing all along the wall and engraved to the front of the chest, it seemed as if it was a language. At the moment I couldn't care less about a new language because I was starving. I saw a furnace over in the other corner of the room and decided to look inside. I found cooked steak, still warm too, that had made me a bit cautious and scared that I was in someone's home but I was so hungry so I decided to eat it anyway.
As I was eating I got curious about the chest and decided to have a look at what was inside. What I found was a relatively thin book about, "The Runic language." It drew my curiosity as I have never heard of it at least from what I remember which isn't much. So I opened it up and saw it was just something to help me learn and decipher this strange new language I just came across, it had strange letters along the right side of the book which I assume is this Runic language the book is talking about while the left side of the book had letters that I understood and recognized as the Anglo-Saxon alphabet which just came to my mind while staring at the letters.
That's when I realized that the symbols in the book matched the carvings on the wall and chest. That's when I took it upon myself to try to decipher what was carved on the chest first so I began to cross-reference the letters to better understand what was being said. After 30 minutes of cross-referencing, I figured out that the chest read "Holding" on the front of it. Wondering what it meant, I wanted to start writing it down and study the language a bit more in-depth by writing out the words instead of just cross-referencing the letters but I had no paper or pen. So I decided to venture more into the chest that seemed to be too big for its size and after a couple of seconds I had found an empty book and a small pen almost out of ink, I tried to use it to write what I had learned earlier in the day, as I began to write "ᚺᛟᛚᛞᛁᛜ" meaning Holding I began to feel beyond exhausted like I had run for hours straight, I then began to lose my balance and fell to the ground and soon after I was out cold.
--Day 4--
I woke up sore, tired, and hungry- very hungry. I don't know how long I was out for, but it was long enough to make me feel forgetful. Making me only take The Deciphering Book back with me to my "Base" camp. As I made my way back to the base camp I saw the withering tree and discovered it was an apple tree. There were quite a few apples on the tree but all of them were rotting. But I had eaten them anyway because I was too hungry to care. As I was eating the semi-rotten apples I found a few good seeds that I could use to start a farm so before I went to rest up for the day I planted a seed. Before I made myself comfortable at least as comfortable as u can get on the ground I made a reminder for myself to go and grab the book that I had left at the strange place.
--Day 5--
I woke up from my sleep and felt significantly better today. On my way to retrieve the book, I had left I decided to grab a rotting apple from the tree in case I got hungry on the way. I tried my best to stay on the same course I took the last time I had gone but sometimes got distracted by my thoughts and lost my sense of direction. It took me far longer than expected to find the entrance this time. When I got there it was already beginning to turn night, As I eventually worked my way up the hill, and back inside the hole, where I forgot my book at. I had noticed that the runes on the wall and chest were glowing a slight blue, it was a little odd but I ignored it as it wasn't the reason I came so I went and grabbed my book and was getting ready to leave again until the furnace caught my eye. It looked as if the back of the furnace had been glowing with runes as well. So I grabbed the back of the furnace and dragged it off the stone wall and looked to see if it had runes engraved in it, and by no surprise it did, so I took out my Runic Language book decided I would decipher what it said and eventually found out it read "Temperature control x Food Restoration"
I didn't understand what it meant by temperature control or food restoration but I figured I would try and research that later. I decided to look back inside the chest that was there in case I had missed anything on my last trip since it seems to be bigger than it lets on. I discovered a bottle of water, a bottle of lava, a casing in the shape of a block, and this odd brown square that had 9 little squares engraved on the top of it. On the top of this mysterious item was what I assume to be the item's name "crafting table" with a small green instruction manual attached to the far left side of it. I opened the small manual and saw that written on the top were more runes that spelled out "discovery." The rest of the book was seemingly empty, I thought it was a place I could write any future runes I discover if my other book were to run out of space.
The bottle of lava had seemed to be glowing, almost a whitish-purple. It was mesmerizing in a way, but I was too cautious to touch it in case it was too hot. So I decided to pull a piece of paper out of my book and place it on the bottle of lava to see if it would ignite or warm-up, but it was rather cold. I touched the bottle with my finger to see if I was going crazy or if the bottle was really cold, and it was. I couldn't believe it, a bottle of lava that doesn't melt away, and isn't at all too hot to touch. I picked up the bottle of lava and the cast, under the cast was a small satchel that I could carry all my items and equipment in, it was perfect. I quickly put everything in the satchel and was getting ready to head out when I caught the sudden smell of steak. I immediately got intrigued and tried to figure out where the smell was coming from, and it led me to the same furnace. I checked in the furnace to find out that a raw steak was being cooked in the furnace, yet I was the only one here, and I didn't put a steak in the furnace.
I immediately concluded that the word "Food-Restoration," on the back of the furnace actually means something. But then I thought that was crazy because how would it just suddenly start cooking a random steak that appeared out of nowhere? I couldn't let go of the possibility it was magic. I decided to start deciphering the line of runes on the wall and writing what it was in my book. It took me an hour just to decipher the first line of runes. The line of runes reads "Stationary, all-stable, growth spurt." I concluded that if the word replenish does something to the furnace, that maybe all the runes engraved on the wall are affecting the ground. I began to assume that every one of these runes affects the item it is written on. I wrote the word "ᚺᛟᛚᛞᛁᛜ" meaning holding, and I passed out for seemingly days. I decided to start my journey back to the withered tree, which seems to be the only tree on this island. I grabbed the steak and quickly ate it, though it was barely cooked. I climbed out of the hole and there was a skeleton standing above me. I looked at its face, and it was bare- no skin. It was holding a bow and arrow to my head, I got scared- it fired.
