Chapter 18: Little side adventure

I was just walking through the busy streets of Limbi market looking for a good place to get some food. There were a lot of food stands but most were extremely unhygienic that eating food from them will get you nothing but days of an aching stomach and your toilet regretting its life choices.

I picked up on some people following me with my microwaves but every time I checked they would hide, now I knew where they hide to but I didn't engage because when I got a glimpse at them they wore clothes similar to the guards at the Limbi River event and when I switched to radio waves they were the exact same frequency as the wireless headsets used by what I assumed were the Takhar people.

"Bo bro!" A random vendor jumped from out of nowhere blocking my path much to my annoyance. "I have the la-…"

"I don't care." I said walking past him not giving a damn what he was selling.

You can find a lot in these kinds of places but the main take away is that they were all cheap. But if you're here looking for an electronic device, best believe that the device be it phone, flash or computer will be 4th hand or won't last 8 months. Plus, from what I know about these places in my previous life there can be open black markets where it was quite easy to find highly illegal products here.

I passed a little vending crate selling some DVDs of really old movies and series. I was surprised they still sold DVDs much less still existed in these times. Now like I said they were all old movies and series when it comes to these times but the con men and women try to play it off like they were th Or so we will latest and hottest things on the market.

I then saw five boys ganging up on another one who had a horse's hoof for a hand. I really didn't get quirks sometimes. Now the people around didn't pay any mind to it and to be honest neither did I because this happens all around mostly in rural or more ghettos like arenas, as some minutes ago I saw a man with brackets for legs get thrown out of a random store. From what I saw through the windows it looked like he didn't start a confrontation but I could be wrong.

I grabbed someone's hand which was reaching into my pockets and squeezed it hard making the person whimper. I looked back spotting a street kid about 13 years old with dirty clothes. I gave him a nasty glare.

"Wait, I can exp-…" I didn't let him finish as a punch sent him a few 23 feet away. I know it was a bit much but street kids are highly dangerous especially in these parts as they can be really monsters just for some cash and besides the guy had a compass literally coming out of his hand.

After I passed the stream of people, I made it to the main area where I spotted a kip's restaurant nearby across the road. I had some cash from uncle J in case I wanted to get anything while we were on this trip. I entered the place and it wasn't packed, not even close, maybe about 14 people in it. The restaurant brand had slowly been dying out. Right now it was a place to go if you wanted to be really cheap. I just ordered roasted beef and Coca-Cola to go and sat by a lone table waiting for my order.

"Hey you hearing about that little girl with a water quirk who removed some of the pollution for the Limbi River?" I heard one of the customers ask his friend.

"Yep, it's an all-over social media man! She really does look like a mermaid though." The friend commented.

I was always surprised how fast news spread on social media as I am pretty sure Danelle just did all that like 15 minutes ago. Two continued talking and my order came by so I dug in. After about 10 minutes I was done eating and ordered some eight samosas to go.

"Hey kid spare me some food will you." A homeless man demanded me and if I wasn't basically trying to rob me I would have given him one.

"Screw off." I said to him and he held my shoulder forcibly and glared at me as if he was trying to scare me or something.

"Listen kid give me the food or…AHH!" He didn't finish his threat as I sent a good amount of electricity on his hand causing him to flinch away. "YOU LITTLE SHIT!" He tried to attack me but I just jumped and kicked his face hard sending him flying towards the ground.

I noticed that a lot of people were looking at the scene and I just scoffed and went on my way. It's not like there were a lot of heroes or any heroes in this area to help. From what I know most heroes tend to focus on major parts of towns or cities to gain clout and so a lot of areas are ignored. I finish my stuff and threw the wrapper in the trash bin.

Suddenly a person landed on a sign post glowing Purple-pinkish and flipped off it almost crashing into me but I just side stepped out of the way and with some slap stick physics she rolled and crashed into a nearby building wall she also dropped a metal piece shaped like a star. The person was a girl about 13-years old, black hair with purple tips and purple eyes. She wore a black jacket, yellow t-shirt reaching the upper gut, black tight sweatpants and Nike shoes.

"Wow sorry I almost crushed into you little dude." She recovered fast, ran up to me and apologised.

"It's cool I managed to get out of the way so no harm done." I reassured her.

"Phew but man looks like you got some good reflexes there." She complimented me.

"Um thanks. You dropped this." I held a small metal curved star towards her.

"Oh, thanks I forgot I had this with me." She took it back. "I'm Novahiwa, nice to meet you." She introduced herself.

"Um, nice to meet you too. I'm Chimwemwe." I also introduced myself.

"NOVA ARE YOU OKAY!!" A guy also about thirteen ran towards us. He had black dreaded hair styled on the right side of his face and grey eyes. He wore a brown jacket, blue shirt with a mic picture on it, green trousers and white Jordans. He also wore black gloves which looked to have speakers on them.

"Am fine Will a fall like that won't keep me down." She grinned. "Oh, by the way did you get the shot."

"Yep, from a to z." The guy gave a thumbs up while taking out his smartphone. "Even you're wipe out." He chuckled.

"You better cut that part out or else." She threatened her hand glowing purple-pinkish.

"Oh yeah Chimwemwe this is my friend William and Will this little guy's name's Chimwemwe." She introduced us and my eyes twitched when she said that.

"Sup." I gave a peace sign.

"Hey man." Willaim greeted back. "Hey Nova don't you think we should go back to your mom now she might be getting a little worried."

"Oh, don't worry she's too busy at that Limbi River thing featuring that mermaid girl." Novahiwa shrugged her shoulders.

Guess they're talking about Danella and the Limbi River cleansing. Speaking of which I should really be heading back now plus the people who were following me left my range.

"Anyway, nice meeting the two of you but I got to go…" His eyes and I held my hand out and stopped a traffic sign from almost hitting us. "What the fuck?" I looked at the floating traffic sign and made it land down gently. Now that sign came at us at really fast speeds and looked like someone literally blown off or something.

"WHAT WAS THAT!?"

"THE TRAFFIC SIGN JUST CAME FLYING NOWHERE!"

"DID YOU SEE THAT KID STOP IT THOUGH!"

People began commenting on the scene

"Wow, that was so cool!" Novahiwa commented like she wasn't going to get speared by a road sign.

"W-What the hell where did that come from!" Willian screamed in surprise.

"That way." I pointed to the direction the traffic sign was likely thrown. "But I am not waiting to find out who threw it and why." I said as I started to walk out of there fast.

"Hey wait up!" Novahiwa was all Purple-pinkish and was walking beside me while William ran to catch up. "What type of quirk was that!?" She asked.

"Fuck." I cursed in annoyance but it wasn't Novahiwa's question but I turned to the direction in which the stop sign was thrown and saw something rocketing down in our direction. "Fuck move!" I yelled and began running but then suddenly I saw purple-pinkish and then everything I passed was blurry till I found myself on top of a four-story building. I was under Novahiwa's arm and Willaim looked to be dragged by the collar.

"Seriously Nova a building!?"Willam yelled at her.

"Hey I least we're high up and away from danger." She defended herself.

I saw that I was under Novahiwa's shoulders and Willam was dragged by the colour. She put me down and good I was used to fast travel. William was yelling at Novahiwa's method of getting us away from danger and I looked at what was crushed in the streets.

It was two men. The first one was a tall skinny man dressed in a black cloth wrapped around his waist and some around his knees, no shirts and a staff with a lizard head crafted at the tip. Next to him was a muscular man with booster jets literally coming out of his back. He wore a black leather mask fully covering his face, black trouser, no shirt and barefoot.

Then I saw three men dressed in black suits running after them and much to my surprise they were the same men who were following me. The man with the staff pointed his weapon at the retreating crowd and shot an explosion from it , setting the people on fire causing me it flince.

"The hell is he doing!?" Willam screamed and I wouldn't blame him. The action seemed so random but I wanted to use them as distractions as the burning people were running like headless chickens blocking the suited men from making clean shoots.

The men began firing some rounds at the men but due to the confusion they were unable to make it. The masked one fired a explosions from his stuff but the men dodged but the attack did hit a random store.

"Hey guys, I think we should go now." I told them and the two nodded in agreement as watching people burn alive wasn't a great sight.

We ran to the other side of the building and saw the man with the jet propeller like a quirk fly away with the fire user on his back. Key word tried. A Purple-pinkish wrapped around his leg and slammed near us on the building.

"Fuck these Takhar bustards are okakamila." The jet man said getting up, rubbing his head and then spotted us. "Well, it looks like we got our key to escape." He said sinisterly and the other man kept quiet.

I was just about to stun them but Novahiwa shot a Purple-pinkish blast hitting them directly and William shot some kind of sonic blast which really affected my ears and covering them didn't do much. But at least the guys were pushed off the roof and they seemed to have dropped a flash drive.

"Um Chimwemwe you okay man?" Willaim knelt beside me and Novahiwa also looked worried.

"I'm fine." I stood me rubbing me ears. "Cool quirks by the way now lets fucking go." Those bastards would fly up after their ears started working again.

"Hey look, those jerks dropped a flesh." Novahiwa ran and picked the flesh.

"Are you sure you should be taking that?" I asked cautiously.

"Yes, what if this contains top secret information about the group they work for or something. We could give it to the police." She waved the flesh around but I just gave her a deadpan look.

"Guys, let's just go." Willam yelled and we all went to the right edge of the building.

"Let me carry you down." Novahiwa offered.

"Um good." Using my quirk I stuck my feet to the wall and ran down and got safely down without much problem. I looked up and they were still up there and I gave a 'what are you waiting for face'.

They looked back and immediately jumped down. Nova did her Purple-pinkish thing and ran down while William also seemed to have speakers under his shoes too and just used lesser sound blasts to lessen the fall and safely land. But the two villains even with masks I could tell were pissed and I guess Novahiwa was right about there being important stuff in that flesh.

The mask guy's lizard tip opened it's mouth and I noticed sparks come out of it make a huge explosion.I acted fast and shot a stream of electricity intercepting the attack making a large dust cloud but it really smells terrible.

'Does he produce hydrogen sulfide because only that can produce such explosions and smell so bad.' I gagged at stench and so did William and Novahiwa. The sparks than are just purely for combustive reactions with his quirk huh. Interesting.

We ran using the explosion as a chance to distract the two lunatics. I used my microwaves to pinpoint their exact location in the smoke and made two electro balls in both hands, throwing them towards the two.

"AAHH!!"

"AHHH!!"

I heard two screams as we ran and I felt a weird glee from it, even a little smile formed on my face despite the situation. I detected a fire ball coming towards us and I made an electro ball overpowering it hitting the masked man again.

The jet propeller quirk user rocketed towards us. He might have been fast but his coordination was really off so I dodged by jumping and sticking to and I guess Novahiwa must be really into gymnastics because the girl turned purple-pinkish jumped avoiding the charge and twist flipped shooting her energy blast while in the air at the villain knocking him back. She landed perfectly in the car.

'Was all the flipping necessary though?' I raised my eyebrow.

William, who was somewhat hoovering in the air guess by the use of his sound wave coming off his shoes, shot a strong sound wave at the villain and I had to cover my ears.

I saw a big smelly explosion blast coming towards us.

"Fuck this." I sent an attack worth of 1 million volt in a lightning overpowering his attack hitting him dead centre.

"AHHH!" He screamed in agony as he fell to the ground twitching badly, his mouth foaming.

"Like that I call it my megavolt canon." I smirked a little.

"Fuck this shit am not getting paid to fight little monsters." The boaster jet quirk user said flew away as fast as he could but my electricity was fast and I hit him with 1 million volts of it knocking him down and out.

'Damn I'm really glad people have better durability and endurance otherwise I would have caught a case for catching a body years ago.' I thought in slight relief but the guy looked like he was barely breathing.

"Wow, that was stone cold!" Novahiwa said as she and Willam looked at me in surprise.

"I just did want a chain villain situation." I defended myself.

Suddenly one of the Takhar agents came running at us.

"Are you kids okay?" He asked us.

"Um dude where have you guys been!?" I asked as his timing was way too inconvenient.

"Yeah you guys just disappeared when you dropped these creeps on us at that building!" Novahiwa joined in the yelling.

"Guys come one, he might be an officer and might arrest us for vigilante work." William tried being the voice of reason.

"Am sorry about that, we didn't know that you kids were on top of the building when that happened. Also, the reason we left was to help the people who were burned by the villains." He gave us the reasons he then looked around. "But your friend is right that you kids could be in a lot of trouble with vigilantism whether you meant it or not."

Our eyes widened at the news.

"Wait mister officer man I can't get in trouble because of that again so how about a trade. You let us go for this." She took out the flesh from her pocket. "It was on one of those villains so what do you say?"

The man just looked at the flesh drive and hummed and took the flesh.

"Okay am letting you kids off this time so leave before the police show up." William and Novahiwa ran out of the scene like pros. "Why are you still here?" He asked me.

"You guys are Takhar right?" I just wanted to get this over with and then remain professional. "Yes, I know about you guys and I just want to know why you were following me?"

"I'm really not surprised that you know about us and your Uncle Joseph told the secretary about your past encounter with Kujitenga and we wanted to see if they would come after you again to help with the investigation." At least he was being honest about it.

"Okay those two are part of Kujitenga then?" I asked out of pure curiosity.

"No but that's not really any of your concern. Now please go." He told me and I nodded and left.

I walked away and past the streets where the villains fell and saw the victims of the staff villain suffering from major first- and second-degree burns and a bit of property damage. Looks the Takhar people really did damage control in a hurry to at least minimise casualties at least the ambulances were already there parching people up.

Good thing it looked like nobody actually died.

"Chimwemwe there you are!" I saw Novahiwa and William ran towards me. "Why did you stay behind?" Novahiwa asked.

"Meh nothing serious." I shrugged my shoulders.

Police finally showed up.

"Typical Nyasaland time." I mumbled under my breath.

"Did they really just show up when evething was over?" William looked surprised.

"Well at least we didn't get into something too big unluck last time." Novahiwa chuckled.

"Last time you two used to do this kind of thing a lot?" I asked the two.

"Somewhat." She answered sheepishly.

"But why weren't any heroes around though?" William asked sadly as he watched the medics help the injured.

"From what little I know these parts of Limbi don't have hero organisations nearby and most heroes are clout chasers so the um 'little' crimes which happen here aren't seen as worth their time." Novahiwa shrugged.

"Is that why your mom comes by here a lot?"

"I guess?"

"Your mom's a hero?" I asked the girl.

"Yep. But you seem really calm about everything Chimwemwe have you gone through stuff like this before?"

"Yeah, from time to time. But it's not like the whole scene of people being burnt alive didn't affect me." I wasn't lying, it was a little hard to witness.

"But that quirk of yours man it was really cool!" William complimented. "So, is it like electromagnetism?"

"Will's right you stopped a run away stop sign, stuck to a wall like spiderman than your firing electric blasts. You should be a part of our videos!" She hugged me like a stuffed toy and just rolled my eyes.

"Yo Novahiwa mind letting me go?" I asked her.

"Aw you're like a cat but just call me Nova from now on we just survived a dangerous situation together like a little team from an anime." She giggled.

"Yo Willam man what's the time right now.'

"It's 3:46." He told me to check his phone.

Damn I should really be getting back to the others right now. I checked my phone which contained missed calls from Suiw and messages on WhatsApp. A message from Mr. Mgaya told me they will be leaving at 4:15pm and if I don't get back, they will send a search team.

"Yo I really got to go." I said and slipped out the girl's embrace but she held her phone to me.

"At least give us your number first so we can keep in touch." Willaim suggested and Nova nodded in agreement.

I signed as socialising with new people was a very exhausting to me some times. So after they pushed I gave in and exchanged phone numbers with the two of them and waved goodbye to both of them as I went back to the river site.

Sometime later.

"Jeez Chicky if you were later, we would have left you without you." Suiw remarked as we were all in the car getting ready to leave.

Danelle was fast asleep on her chair looking really drained while Vincent just sat on his chair with his arms folded looking like a bodyguard for Denelle.

"Getting food." I answered.

"For two hours?" Lusungu questioned.

"I had a hard time finding a good place which wouldn't give me diarrhoea." I shrugged. "So, what did I miss?"

"Oh, the number 2 hero showed up." Lusungu said in excitement.

"Wait seriously?" I asked in a little surprise.

"Yep, we even got pictures." Lusungu showed me a group picture all four of them had with Kuyaka. "She was really nice too but Suwi, how did she personally know you?"

"Oh, my mom makes most of her customs." Suiw answered, then looked at Chimwemwe. "Maybe if your lucky and treat me better I could introduce you to her~." She nudged me a little.

I hummed and lean on the window. Guess my little adventure made me miss out on something though I wonder what type of crazy stuff is happening with Auntie in Japan.
