Methuselan Blood

"What is wrong with me? Why wouldn't anyone dare approach me?" Alice thought as she sat on her desk. She always finds herself alone. "Open your eyes" "Who are you?" Alice exclaimed at the person who appeared before her. The tall handsome man gave her a stoic expression. It wasn't long before she notice after pondering for a while that it was only a dream. She was back again on her desk. She observed her classmates enjoying what was left of the fifteen minute break. They were all happy, chatting, sharing food, playing video games, simply socializing. She rarely speaks to her classmates because of the fact that they would only acknowledge her when they work on a group project, or a team building, saying what she needed to say, after what was requested of her to do or to accomplish, after exchanging thoughts with others in that certain group, she would just be ignored again like she is clearly invisible. It wasn't just with her classmates it was the same with other people, with an exception, her family. Alice wasn't anyone special. She wasn't a very intelligent student, not an athlete, she doesn't have a golden voice, she was completely devoid of talents, sometimes she even thought she doesn't exist. Alice could blend perfectly in the crowd though, it's a dominant trait of hers that she is perfectly aware of. One incident happened though,,,

Darkness and Fears

The rain already stopped. I was lost in words.

"How could something like this happen? There are no bears in this part of town especially here in Cerule and even if there is, it wouldn't roam urban areas like it's own backyard, what animal could have possibly done this? A wolf? But there are no wolves here too and, he has a gun he could have used it". I told myself.

I saw a gun from a corner and a cluster of keys beside it.

"What if the killer is still within the school grounds?".

I shivered.

"Stop being so hysterical Alice, find someone for help".

"What if the killer  finds me first?".

My thoughts was interrupted by the strong wind blowing through my face. There was the angry weather again. Lightning and thunder crashed loudly in the skies that I have to close my eyes to rid of the fear that was slowly creeping into my system.

I  only opened my eyes when I heard something down the cemented road, sound's like a pair of feet splashing in the rain water. Suddenly there in front of me a few blocks across the road from where I stood a very lovely lady appeared out of nowhere. I can see the reflection of her face by the use of the streetlight. The rain started again.

The first thing I noticed was, she dresses weird for she was wearing a clothing of white and it really looks like a hospital gown to me, like the one patients wears once admitted.

Second thing I noticed, she was standing on the rain all alone and wet she was not using any umbrella. I thought a sick person were not allowed to go out and bathe in the rain? At least that was what my mom told me.

Third thing, she was so still like a mannequin. It creeps me out a bit when her gaze was drawn  to me. She was not wavered by the thunder and she was not bothered by the rain.

Fourth thing I noticed, she looks like a model, she was as lovely and beautiful  these words seem so unfit to describe her, she looks like a lady of an 18th century painting from a museum. She looks so sureal. She has a pale complexion and from where I stood I can tell her skin was smooth. My mind was fighting whether or not to approach her. Maybe she needs help although, I was really hesitant of what I finally noticed.

Fifth thing I noticed is my heart beating loudly. Like what you felt when you suddenly ran through the pedestrian lane with cars beeping almost hitting you, my palpitations was all because of fear. Maybe the feeling that was reigning me from the start was fear. I thought I saw her mouth covered in blood! In fact her hospital gown was smeared all over with blood.

Something flashed in my mind like lightning. A rush of consciousness and realization. The school guard, I found his killer! My leg's "brain" turned on, before I was fully aware, I was already running towards the gate.

It was locked! The key! I turned my eyes towards where I last saw the gun and the set of keys. Quickly I turned to rush to it, but the lady was already there, standing in front of me. She was eerie. Her blue eyes were fixed on me. Her lips turned into a curve. She was smiling at me I was not pleased to see her sharp ivory white  teeth. "Come" she uttered. Her voice was shrill and not very pleasant to the ears, it made me feel goosebumps.

"Who are you?" I restrained a shudder from my voice.

I received no answer. She slowly slanted her head on her right shoulder and stared at me still smiling.

Her hand reached for me, her eyes were burning red like burning deep red charcoals in the dark. Before she could make any contact with me I managed to slip out of his gaze and ran like crazy. I dare not look back at her.

The rain was beginning to fall hard again.

Mom

Help!

I was running as fast as I could. I cannot possibly see my path because of the heavy rain. The first building that I passed was the science building.  As I have remembered in my chemistry room I have something that could actually be of use. I quickly went up the stairs. When I arrived at the third floor I was catching my breath. My mouth was dry. What was it that I saw? A killer psychopath? I was dizzy and heaved a lot of air before I hurriedly stabled my senses.

I found the chemistry room, I entered the pass code on the security lock and without any problem I entered the room, flicking the switch open, I was able to lock the glass door from the inside using another set of pass code. The room was too quiet because it was made up of thick glass. I know I should be safe here as a normal person she can't open the room but what i saw earlier made me think twice, she has a very incredible speed she killed a man with her bare hands, she sure looks human but the way she acted made me think otherwise. I cannot hear the heavy downpour outside although, I can hear someone just outside the room down the hallway. I can hear someone humming. It was so eerie. How could her voice penetrate the area? My heart was pounding endlessly, my throat was dry, goosebumps trailed from my legs to my nape.

There was a loud thunder with which the light inside the room flickered. Lightning erupted and another loud crashing sound from the thunder entered my ears sending gallons of fear inside me. I placed both of my hands on my ears to lessen the harsh sound.

I was alarmed when the lights wavered again, I rushed to the lockers, I held the key in my hand, and there was another earsplitting thunderclap, finally the moment I never hoped to be, the lights went out.

I was appalled. Unsure of what to do or what to expect, I rummaged through the darkness inside my locker, I was not that organized when it comes to my school supplies as much as the clothes in my closet but there are things here which I keep and believed to of service to me when the time comes and this is one of those times.

My hands raided the contents of my locker. Where is it?

The next thing that I knew, there was a loud sound of broken glass shattered by an unknown force, I didn't have the chance to see or think, bits of shard glass was thrown at my direction.

There was such a force that I was thrown across the room and hit my head on one of the edges of the laboratory table far off from where I was. Slowly I stood up, the laboratory wall which was made of strong unbreakable glass was broken. I felt a burning sensation on my arm and something hot was trickling down the side of my head and my arm. I'm wounded. Pain, now that I think of it, was slowly implanting in my skin. I struggled to stand up but my vision blurred, I fell on my feet and I lay back coughing.  I was staring at the ceiling and in a second I recognized someone was standing there a pair of red glowing eyes looking down at me.

Lightning was bright and the thunderclaps were loud in the clouds, the rain was pattering mercilessly on the roofs and the wind howled like mad, even if I scream hard enough, there is no way a person would be able to hear, for a few seconds when a lightning passed I had a few glimpse of what the room looked like, it was devastated. My glasses was knock out of place and for instance my vision turned blurry. However before my vision was altered I was sure the lady, standing across the room, was in every sense, monstrous.

As I lay down the cold floor, I don't know how she reached me but she kneeled and placed my head gently on her lap. I would have cringed on contact if I have the strength to.  I was staring right at her now blue eyes, I was scared to notice her eyes change color, they were soft kind even, but I was aware that she was singing me a lullaby, and that it was making me want to sleep so badly, I don't even have the strength to speak. My arms felt like 50 kilos of metal on each side. My legs lay paralyzed. My eyes did not lie though, they were wide open and shows a great deal of fear.

She was lulling me to sleep, what's with her?. She placed my head on the floor and cowered all over me. Her silky brown hair fell on her shoulders and slowly she was leaning on me towards my neck, her red luscious lips were slightly opened and I caught a glimpse of the two long incisors on both sides of her mouth.

And then I heard it, as if from a dream. A voice so familiar.

"I will always keep you safe"

On que I came to my senses and

I was able to move again, a sudden surge  of adrenaline entered my entire system. I reached for something.

Before the lady could come any closer I smashed her head with whatever I was holding. She was shrieking loudly away from me. Holding her head with both her hands. I guess she wasn't expecting for comebacks. I wasn't sure if the shrieks was for pain though, the lady was full of rage, her eyes turned wild, red smoldering iron, I have never seen such eyes. They were like eyes of a murderer.

Her lips were drawn back as she gave a hiss. Then she slowly changed, she dropped on the floor and started to wriggle in pain, her skin turned wrinkly and was stretched immensely her size changed, she was getting taller, limbs became longer, her ears were pointy, her mouth widened to adjust to the size of the long jagged set of teeth, blue, violet, and green veins scattered across her body.

Nails were long and sharp, I could tell because she was scratching herself as she turned into a creature, something that can only be created in dreams, nails dig the thin wrinkled skin and blood splattered on the floor, though her wounds heal  instantly. Her hair thinned and there was barely anything left. A pair of large wings emerged on her back. As I witness these things I cannot make my feet run. In other words, I was frozen solid in the spot while horridly watching the transformation taking place.

It's the first time I have seen a monster right in front of me and I don't think I would make it until dawn with just a baseball bat on hand. Even though I scream for help nobody would be able to hear me and if I would really die tonight  I don't know if there would be anything left of my remains. I thought this is only a dream but it is not, the pain is proof that I am not asleep.

The lady was gone, and the monster that replaced her was not looking so good at all either. Scarlet eyes stared at me in the dark. I caught a sight of her form when a bolt of lightning passed. It's crouched figure stood in the center of the room, ears pointed on the side of it's head, wings enveloped it's enormous body like a gargoyle statue. It was like a giant bat.

There is no chance that I could escape it but I have no intention to end my life this way. The monster disappeared when the thunder crashed angrily above the skies. I ran towards the  window and jumped the bat still on my hand.

Earlier today I found out that the karate club, which my classmate Cassandra had always joined since junior high, was doing their practice at the back of the science building, they seem to have left the matrices outside unintentionally, I saw them still pilled up while I ran back to the guard house when it started to rain.

When I was midway in air, there I saw the huge bat was flying quietly outside, ready to snatch me like I'm a moth, a bat catching it's prey.

I closed my eyes. Goodbye everyone though most of you didn't know me well but then, I will miss living this life.

I was just a bit sad that maybe the only ones that would remember me would be my family at home, I always pray for their safety and protection as I am leaving now, I will always be watching over you. I regretted of not finding any true friend along the way though, and now, my life comes to an end before I could even find one, I fought with everything I've got but I guess this is where I end. Farewell.
