Melting Her Cold Heart

Cheated on by her fiancé weeks before their wedding, Sara, vowed to never love again. Men could not be trusted, especially with a woman's heart. She had made the mistake once, and that was more than enough for her. Never again would she make the same mistake to give her heart to another. But her resolve began to waver when she came across her new boss, Alexander Legend, a man whose reputation in his expertise and ruthlessness in business preceded him. Respected and feared by many, but to Sara, he was an annoying pest she wished she never met. Too persisted for her liking yet, she finds herself falling, slowly melting in his presence. Getting used to his stolen kisses and hugs and sometimes anticipating them. °°°°° Excerpts “You will fall for me, Sara. One day, I'll have your heart too,” Alex drawled. His voice had a seductive allure that had her heart racing. The fact that his hand was leisurely resting around her waist didn't help her either. “Try as much as you want to,” despite her body begging for his touch, Sara was determined to reject him today and any other day. She couldn't make the same mistake again. “You won't succeed in your seduction. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.” Alex smirked, kissed behind her ear and her body trembled, much to his satisfaction. That was all he needed to keep purising the stubborn woman in his arms right now. “We shall see, Miss Ambrose,” he cooed and then released her. He returned to his seat and asked in a professional tone. “What is my schedule for today?”

It's show time

"Happy now?" Sara asked with a sharp glare as she looked at the man who was so shameless as to lie to everyone both young and old that she was his woman.

"I am happy, but I doubt we have the same thought," Alex replied, and she sighed. "So please, enlighten me, Honey."

The new name left Sara speechless, but she quickly regained her voice. "Why did you lie to them? You could have told them who I really am, but you didn't. Why?" it was not right to leave such a big misunderstanding, and she was also at fault… sort of. But he was the one to blame for it.

"What did I lie about what, love?" He asked with innocence in his voice as well as confusion. "I never told a lie. Everything I said was the truth, and you are important to…"

"Stop, right now," she interrupted him, and he stopped immediately.

The river in front couldn't believe what was happening. Not only did his cold and aloof boss call the woman whom he only came to know today as a secretary with endearment, he went silent without any signs of anger and annoyance. He didn't even complain and looked as if he was being wronged and silently throwing a tantrum instead.

"Listen, Mr Legend. This may be a game to you. A means to have fun while messing with other people's emotions, it isn't for me. I am not okay with lying and deceiving people. What you did painted the picture that you and I are together. I am not your woman, Sir. Please, next time, clarify this misunderstanding," Sara said.

"It won't be a lie if you were my woman, right?" He uttered, but it sounded like a question to her.

"Yes, it won't be, but it is because I am not your woman," She replied, and he nodded his head.

"Then become my woman," he uttered.

Okay, this didn't only take Sara off guard as even the driver became distracted with just those four words. He fought the urge to turn his head and look at the boss and the woman who could make him say those words. But he could only look at them through the rare mirror.

"What did you just say?" Sara asked. She didn't think she heard him right. How on earth did he think that was what she wanted?

"I am not playing with anyone's feelings, Sara. Especially not yours. Become my woman, and I mean that. As I have said before, I will treat you right. The way you deserve to be treayed and taken care of," Alex continued.

"...."

Sara opened her mouth to speak but couldn't find her voice or the words. He was too blunt and straightforward, not giving her any chance to reject him, but she knew she could not accept him. No matter what.

"I am sorry, but I can't accept your proposal," she said. They stared into each other's eyes for a while before she looked away, staring out the window instead. "It won't happen, so I'll advise you to stop trying, or you will keep getting hurt."

Well, she is right about one thing. Even now, he was hurt. He knew that the chances of a rejection from her were at least ninety percent, and he should have been prepared for it. But facing it now, it still stung. How many more times will she reject him before the eventual acceptance that he seeks? Alex didn't know, but he wouldn't stop either.

"We can try this again another time then," he took her hand and intertwined their fingers. "One day, this will be a reality," he raised the hand up and kissed her knuckles. "Until then, I guess I'll keep getting hurt. Maybe one day, you'll feel bad for me and say yes," she smiled.

Sara stared wordlessly at him. She wanted to pull her hand out of his grip, but she couldn't find the strength to do so. His smile after those last words stunned her too. It was sad and hopeful at the same time.

What surprised her also was the fact that he knew he would get hurt but still wanted to keep on chasing her. Why? Sara wondered. She was certain that they had never met before. The man named Alexander Legend only came into her life yesterday, so why was he acting as if he knew her a long time ago?

"Why don't we take you home? It's been a long day," he suggested, and she nodded her head. It has indeed been a long day, but it was still work hours. As if understanding her thoughts, he said, "I will turn in early today. There is somewhere I must be later. You don't have to worry about the time."

"Okay," Sara replied. At least she won't be breaking any rules.

"Drive to Miss Ambrose's home. We are done for today," he instructed the driver. He saw as the driver took a deep breath and sighed in relief, and he wondered why.

"Yes, President," the driver replied with yes in the rear view mirror to look at the man.

"Take care, Sara," Alex said when she came down from the car. She nodded, waved, and said her goodbyes as well before the car drove off. It was then that she realized that the man already knew her house even without her telling.

"What a pain?" She commented but smiled. He wouldn't do anything stupid. She was almost certain about that.

She then went inside to prepare for the dinner with Crowfords. She had a long day, but an even longer night awaited her.

Once she was inside, she texted Jessa.

SARA: "Back home and getting for the Crawfords."

Jessa's reply came almost immediately like she was waiting to the one message the whole day.

JESSA: "Dress not just to impress but to kill as well."

Sara laughed and replied,

SARA: "I sure will."

She sent and dropped the phone on the table before heading into her bedroom. A shower and a change of clothes was an order.

Moments later, Sara was dressed in a beautiful black evening gown tjay slightly exposed her cleavage. Not too much but have a person's eyes linger little and prompt wild thoughts and imaginations. She had on silver earrings and a necklace paired with a pair of silver heels. The makeup was not too much, it was natural and complimented her overall appearance.

Sara looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. The time to go has arrived and now, it's show time.
