Melodies Of Love

"Don't judge my bangs. My mom made me do it." I say. "It's cute." He says, biting back a laugh. "Asshole." I murmur. "Wait... In the photo you're wearing..." He says trailing off. My eyes widen when I realize I'm wearing my bracelet in that picture. "I can explain." I say. Chapter 7: You're A Live Saver Amelia

Amelia's POV

Today's the last day to present, so Sylvester and I volunteer first. "Better to be first so no one will remember it by the end of class." I say.

"Everyone's going to remember ours, I'm famous." He says smirking.

I laugh and shake my head. "Means you can't mess up then. No pressure."

His smirk drops from his face, and I hold in a laugh. "Don't say that! Now I feel pressure."

"Relax. You'll do fine, we practiced for hours." I say.

We walk up to the front, and the teacher pulls up our slides. I start speaking and Sylvester puts his game face on. Aww he's actually cute... Haha no.

We finish after 5 minutes, and I smile. "We made the time requirement." I whisper, when we walk back to our desks.

"Good, I feel like it was obvious we were talking slow." He says laughing.

"Everyone's going to do that, so we'll be okay." I say.

"I had fun working with you." He says.

"Who wouldn't? I'm the best at presentations." I say, flipping my hair. "But for real, thank you for being a good partner."

Since there are a few more groups who need to present, I subtly put in my earbuds in. A few minutes later, Sylvester whispers, "Amelia."

I take an earbud out and raise an eyebrow. "You have any snacks for today? I didn't have time for breakfast and I don't think I'll survive." He says dramatically.

I bite back a laugh and grab my backpack. "I got you. I have fruit snacks and Cheez-It's. My emergency snack is saltine crackers."

"Fruit snacks please." He says.

I give him the pack and he gasps. "These are my favorite!" He says excitedly. Awww... Stop.

"You're a lifesaver, Amelia." Sylvester says happily.

Lily meets me in the cafeteria, and I can tell she's bouncing with joy. "Why are you so happy?" I ask suspiciously.

"I have a date this weekend." She says excitedly.

"Awww, is it with the guy you've been texting?" I ask.

She nods and says, "I'm finally going to know what he looks like."

"Do you want me to follow again, just in case you get kidnapped?" I ask.

"Of course!" She says.

"Just tell me the time so I can escape Esmeralda." I say, stealing one of her chips.

I glance at the line near Sylvester and sigh. "It's almost been a month. How has the line not shrunk at all?" Lily asks.

Lily notices Sylvester glancing at Amelia, but decides not to say anything. "Do you know what you're doing on your date?" I ask.

"We're going to eat at that new restaurant on Main Street. I heard they have really good milkshakes." She says.

"Can't wait to sit alone at a booth like a loser." I jokingly say.

"I promise it won't be like last time. I don't even know how he connected us for being friends." She says laughing.

"He was a dick! Made you split the check, even though he was the one who asked you out." I say.

"The worst part is that all he did was talk about his ex. Like that's not what you talk about on a first date." She says, rolling her eyes.

I spot Tiffany and Cassy arriving in the cafeteria with their group of friends. They pass us and one of them purposely drops their drink.

"Oops." Cassy says, knowing I hate when my shoes are sticky. Gum is cruel on shoes. Just like that bitch.

"Sorry, I swear it was an accident." They say, not bothering to look at me. Like her being born?

I just roll my eyes, not bothering to fight. Lily gets up to follow them, but I grab her hand. "It's fine, I'm just going to go to the restroom." I say, pointing at my shoes.

"Are you sure? I know you say violence isn't the answer, but their faces look so punchable today." She says.

"Once we're out of high school, we'll never have to see those assholes again. Wouldn't want to ruin our record with a suspension or get sued." I explain.

"I don't understand how you can tolerate them." She says, following me.

"I live with Cassy and Esmeralda." I say, not needing to explain.

"What's Esmeralda making you do this week?" She asks, helping me dry my shoe.

"The usual. Clean up after her sorry ass and make them food. Cassy is planning on having a mini get together on Sunday. She just told me to make the food, and stay out of the house." I say.

We exit the restroom when the bell rings, and Lily says, "Wish me luck. I have a test I didn't study for."

"You got this." I say confidently.

I walk towards my class and I spot Cassy and her group. I blend in with the crowd, and purposely shove my shoulder against Cassy's. Before she could react, I was already in another hallway. That's it? I'm disappointed.
