Quinlan and Xiyadie, who woke up right before the two fought, closely observed them. Both were trying to study the stances that the two onstage were using.
Song An had her spear pointed forward diagonally, with the tip pointing close to the ground. It was a pretty uncommon stance, but it seemed perfectly balanced for attack and defense.
Xu Mei, on the other hand, stood straight, her foot in an L-shape with the left foot perpendicular to her right. Her sword was pulled close to her chest, pointing straight up, while her left hand was pulled to her back, resting at waist level. It looked like a fencing stance more than a sword stance, but Quinlan could tell that it was "different" in some way.
Xu Mei looked full of openings, but at the same time, her defense was seemingly just as hard as Song An's. It was a contradictory thought, but that's what Quinlan could understand from her stance.
