Chapter 36: New house

In the middle of the day, there were six people sitting around the table of a restaurant in the city filled with advanced buildings, flying cars, cleaning robots, and many other things that seemed to come out of the fantasy. Those people were Yuna, David Kevin, Kaya, Rina, and Sona who were enjoying their afternoon meal.

"Shangri-la kingdom and elves seem closer than I thought." David commented his thought.

"Of course we are close. When our founders made the wall around this land and announced it as a kingdom in the name of god we worship. Every nation ostracized us and declared as threat. The founders went to Elvaria, following the God's message and asked them for assistance. Our God and Elf Goddess happened to be friends. That's why, they helped our founders fend off against the oppression of other nations. From then on our kingdom and elves became friends." Kevin explained.

"But I heard different story about it. They say, your founders forcefully occupied the land of the nations that used to be here. They made walls and declared as kingdom. That made the other nations angry but your kingdom had help from the powerful peoples. They couldn't do anything, so they let it go. Isn't that true?" Yuna asked.

"Where did you heard that nonsense? The people of this land had always supported the founders. How could they have been forced? It seems, somebody has forged the history." Kevin bursted out loud, he was showing hostility towards Yuna because of what she said about his kingdom.

"Don't be angry for no reason old man. We read the history of your kingdom in a book. Hearing you say the different story, she asked you out of curiosity. Why are acting like that?" David became angry at Kevin and said. David didn't like the look on Kevin's face one bit.

Kevin realised, he had done wrong, he immediately apologised. "Forgive me for my outburst. I am really sensitive when it comes to the kingdom. I hope you don't take it seriously."

"It's fine. But I don't think we should linger here any longer." David said and stood up to leave.

"Wait, please don't go. Just give me a chance to make it up to you." Kevin stopped them.

"David, listen to me. His outburst was unreasonable and his hostility was not directed at Yuna. Please forgive him this one time." Kaya said, persuading David.

Yuna also thought, David was going little overboard this time. "David I think, you should stop being stubborn. They had already helped us so much. We can't ignore that and behave like this to them." She said.

"Alright, I get it." He said to yuna. He looked at Kevin with serious face, " I don't care if anyone says bad or get angry with me but I won't tolerate if it is about Yuna." He declared.

"I understand. I was not in the right mind earlier. I let my feeling get the better of me. It won't happen again." Kevin said. He understood, David and Yuna may be newcomers but they had survived the wastelands. They were very attached to each other and could easily become hostile to others if they were insulted or treated wrongly.

When he saw Henry, B rank superhuman, known for scaring away the newcomer was behaving himself infront of Yuna and David. He had guessed, they were not weak either. That was also another reason why he brought them with him. After all this he had almost ruined the friendship, he was trying to build. He got the chance now, and he was not going to mess up again.

David was still not fond of being there but as Yuna had said, this was the first time they came here and they found people who were kind to them. He decided to get to know them before judging them. No one was perfect after all, everyone makes mistakes.

After they were done with the lunch, Kevin and elves asked David and Yuna to come with them. They refused but they kept insisting so they had no choice. They all went through the streets and reached to the more beautiful place, the place where houses were made by powerful and influential peoples.

After some time of walking, There was a big and majestic house. The advance gate opened as it scanned Kevin, they all went in. There was a big pool in the left of the house, flowers garden in the front and small land on the right was filled with fruit trees of different kinds. "You know, how to enjoy life." David commented, seeing the everything around him.

"Make yourself at home." Kevin said as he led them inside of his house. The hallway and living room were filled with painting and statues of different era. David and Yuna took a seat comfortably in the sofa, the girls sat opposite of them and Kevin excused himself. They saw him busy ordering his maids and butlers for something. David , Yuna and the girls spent some time casually talking about themselves.

It turns out, they were here as exchange of some sort. Magic academy of the Shangri-la and Elf magic academy had arranged their students to train and learn from each others. It happened every years and this year, three of them were chosen with twelve other. They came here to meet Kaya's uncle. They had heard the monsters here were weak than Elvaria from the older generation students.

They were curious and went out to the wastelands to have fun without telling Kevin. They teamed up with some other people who were going outside. After they enter deep in the jungle, they ended up separating with the ground. The rest of the story was the same, they were saved by Yuna. They didn't tell everything before because David and Yuna were strangers. On top of that Yuna was a demon, they couldn't trust them.

Some time later, Kevin came to them. He was holding something in his hand. "I brought smartphones for you two. Please don't refuse. I know, you don't have it as you just came here." Saying that, Kevin handed the phones to Yuna and David.

They excepted reluctantly, "Thank you for your kindness. I will pay you back when we earn some money." David said. Yuna also thanked Kevin.

"Don't sweat the small stuff. You don't have to pay, it my gift for you." Kevin said. Kevin who already had talked with Henry, knew about David and Yuna's C and S rank power. He was more determined to make friends with them. Yuna's power would be great help to him if anything happened. As David was about to say something the door opened.

There was Henry coming inside the living room. He came and took a seat beside Kevin. He opened his magic pouch and pulled out three small cards about 3 or 4 inches in size. "Here, these are your id cards. You are now members of this city. You can use it for anything like going out of the city, hotel, traveling to other cities and more." Henry said and gave the two id cards to David and Yuna.

After that he gave the other card to Kevin. Henry was a knight and he has his duty to secure the city gate. He said his farewell with the group and went back to his work. After Henry left, Kevin handed the last card to David.

"What is it?" David asked curious. He observed the black card but didn't know what it was and why would Kevin him that.

"It is a key of the house." He said. "You are new, It will take some time for you to get use to the things here. I can't let you stay in the hotel. It is expensive. That's why I am giving you a small house few km in the south of here." Kevin said.

David returned the card, "we can't take it. You have already given us phones, that's is more then enough. We don't need house, we can manage things on our own."

"It's not what you think. Just think it as renting, when you start earning money, you can pay me. And someday if you like the house and want to buy it, I will sell it to you. What do you think?" Kevin suggested.

"Even though it's a good proposal, I still think it's better to not take it. We can't always rely on others for things like this." Yuna said this time.

"Miss Yuna, please take the key. I want to make up for my mistake earlier. If you take it, I will be at ease and think that you have forgiven me." Kevin was not going to give up. He had worked hard all this time but still he was only A rank superhuman in his fifty's. Finding S rank was very hard in the kingdom. There were only few of them and all of them were in capital. He wanted to make favourable impression of himself in front of Yuna and David.

"I will take it and we will live in that house but we will give rent according to the standards here." They agreed.

Now that they were done here, Yuna and David stood up to go to their new home. They added everyone in the contract so that they could reach out when needed. Kevin arranged a flying car to take them to their new place. They parted with Kevin and elf girls, the driver started the car and it flew towards the southern part of the city.
