A week has passed since I first set foot in Mbandaka, I really enjoyed being in a place where everything is very traditional. A few days ago Hafsa invited me to visit the village where pygmy* people live. A village not far from Mbandaka.
The life of the pygmy people is still so primitive. They live in small groups and each group has its own residential area. Their houses are made of piles of leaves, and some of them, especially small children, do not wear clothes.
What is quite interesting in the life of this tribe is their dwarf body shape, the women are only about 120cm tall and the men are about 140 cm. The age of the pygmy people ranges from 16 to 24 years, and not many of them can live beyond that age. Apart from their short stature, their skin is not as black as other Africans, with dark curly hair and thin lips.
