A single encounter

We've passed each other a few times in the streets of downtown surrounding the university. I didn't start noticing her until recently, when I looked down to tie my shoes and noticed as she walked by that she had a very unusual, unique light blue design wrapping her ankle like a tattoo. I looked up to see her face as she went by without batting an eye or even noticing that I was looking at her. Dark hair that turned lighter with the sun reflecting off it and only the slightest glimpse of her face made me interested. I watched as she ran towards another girl and smiled, it was captivating for some strange reason. And I was almost tempted to go up to her until. A bang on my head got my attention.

My friend simply unamused that I was totally fazed out. I drew my attention back to reality and looked back to see her again. But I couldn't find her anymore. "I guess it's only a one time thing" I murmured under my breath. I need to get class! I remember as my friend just started at me impatiently tapping the watch on his wrist. We both ran to class and sat in our usual seats near the back.

"What's wrong?," he asked me.

"Nothing," I replied

"Sure doesn't seem like nothing, you stopped to tie your shoe and it took five minutes longer than it actually takes to tie a shoe!"

"..."

"Dude, why are you so out of it?"

"This girl... she drew my attention," I said.

My friend sighed and the professor started to lecture. All I could think about was the girl who I passed by. I was captivated, why? Was it her looks? Because she was pretty, but am I really that shallow. I haven't even talked to her but she already has me fascinated. I couldn't think of any reasons and when I was supposed to be taking notes. I just started into space, thinking about that one sided moment that happened for only a few minutes but seemed like way more.
