"I'm right here…"
The two maidens turned to look at Eira, faces pale like they had just seen a ghoul. Relieved, Jacob rushed to her side and held her shoulders tightly, searching her face for answers on where the hell she had run off to.
His brown eyes were filled with both dread and anger, as they swept over every inch of her. He was terrified that she had run away, the thought of losing her at this point made his stomach turn.
"Where have you been?" He asked in a tone that he tried so hard to control, "I've been worried sick, I thought something had happened to you."
Eira looked up at Jacob's eyes, they did not in any way show that he was genuinely concerned about her wellbeing. He was not losing his mind because he feared she was hurt or lost, he was losing his mind because he feared she had escaped his sinister clutches. It was his affairs he was worried about, his plans, his pride. This had nothing to do with her, and everything to do with him.
