Chapter 2: Recruitment

2 days after the incident, Rita is still at home resting because of the mental trauma that she received. Maverick, on the other hand, had been preparing to meet a particular person in the city. The captain requested it after the incident, he said that she would recruit him to the MPA which is the biggest and most well-known academy in the whole world. He already passed the requirements to enter the academy anyway, although he will be placed in the elite team in the lower bracket. Even though this is the lowest rank for the elite class, it is still the elite class.

Its day time and they were at their meeting point, he waited patiently, and finally, she arrived. She is the same age as Maverick and a decent-looking girl, wearing a ponytail and slick dark purple hair. She also wears shorts and a crop top while holding her phone.

"Huh? are you supposed to be the instructor?" The girl asked

"What? no, I thought YOU were the instructor" Maverick answered in a confused tone

We were both confused on the spot but suddenly a tall man approached from behind.

"Are you the recruit?" the man said while holding a tablet.

They both said yes in high spirits, they were confused at first but they found out that they were both recruits for the MPA. The man said to follow him and ensure no one is following them. they were led to a nearby abandoned cafe. Inside is full of cobwebs... a lot of cobwebs. The man went to the counter and pressed a button under the counter. A hatch opened behind the counter, and there were stairs and a bright basement. They saw a giant warp gate, warp gates are very expensive and are only built when they got approved by the government.

"I have 2 questions for both of you, have you ever traveled using a way portal? And do you like sodas?" the man asked.

"Errr.. yes I do like sodas but I did not use a way portal yet nor seen one before, so yeah, it is my first-time " Maverick said. The woman said the same thing.

The man nodded and gestured for them to step into the portal. Maverick gulped as he stepped forward. The feeling was awful, his body feels like it was going to tear apart and his mind is blurry but it was only momentarily. When he opened his eyes, he is inside a laboratory of some sort. A scientist approached them and handed them a bottle of soda, they were confused at first but the scientist explained.

" When using a way portal, it reduces your sugar level by half. That's because your body needs a lot more energy to transfer from one area to another, therefore, using sugar in your body." The scientist explained

They grabbed the soda bottles and drank them. They felt a lot better. They rested on the lounge for 20 minutes for the sugar to circulate in their body. Maverick engaged in a conversation with the woman.

"Err.. my name is Maverick but you can call me Rick, How about you?" Maverick asked.

"My name? Well, you can just call me Callie" Callie said while shaking Maverick's hands.

Another scientist entered the lounge.

"Maverick and Callie, please proceed in the academy, and here are your I.D cards"

they received an ID and a key to their apartment, they also received a new Digi-tablet. Digi-tablets are like superior versions of smartphones, they are very expensive and rare. They both stepped out of the laboratory and outside was an ocean and a giant academy.

Their life as a PMA student officially begins!
