Doomsday...
Well, as soon as Jack heard that name, he already had an idea of what had happened to ancient Krypton, which was in such bad shape.
Doomsday is the creature capable of tearing Superman apart and grinding Darkseid into the ground.
What makes it even more troublesome is its ability to be killed but come back stronger each time, with a new defense against the method used to kill it.
It's almost impossible to kill it the same way twice.
Honestly, it would be difficult for even Jack in the present to beat Doomsday in its full form.
Locking him up was not a bad idea, though.
It's not hard to beat it; the hard part is figuring out how to kill it completely.
And those ancient Kryptonians actually created this thing?
Isn't that just self-destructive?
Well, the reality is indeed true.
The scientists of Krypton opened Pandora's Box, and the Kryptonian Empire was the first victim.
Doomsday was completely uncontrollable.
He was a killing machine with no other purpose in his mind but slaughter.
From the moment he was born, he would kill every living thing he could see.
As a result, the Kryptonian Empire suffered greatly.
The scale of that battle is hard to explain, and the history books of Krypton barely mention it.
That's not the worst part, though.
The Kryptonian Emperor died.
He died in the fight with Doomsday.
The death of the Emperor was the last straw that broke the empire.
The Kryptonian Empire used to be a powerful force with people all over the universe and even in other galaxies.
However, it fell from its godlike position.
They returned to the last star system they had visited to take a break.
But it was also because of Doomsday that other forces in the universe, including Apokolips, didn't dare kick a dog while it was down.
They were afraid of letting out this monster, which had destroyed a powerful empire.
Yes, letting it go is the right choice because even though the strongest Kryptonian Emperor died in battle and the great Kryptonian Empire fell apart because of it, they still couldn't kill Doomsday.
They just barely managed to seal it deep inside Krypton. On the day before Krypton was destroyed, they sent him to the Phantom Zone.
After that disaster, the core of the empire almost stopped working, and Hyr-El of the House of El, along with three other houses, stood up to remove the empire's rule and set up alliances.
But that's a story for another time.
It's just a cycle of ups and downs, and Krypton still hasn't fully made up for the damage caused by that accident.
That is the rise and fall of the Kryptonian Empire.
"I see."
After hearing the story, Jack nodded with understanding.
He now understood the Kryptonian Empire and the Emperor's story and why Alura was so hostile to him.
When Doomsday went berserk back then, the Kryptonian Empire's army couldn't stand a chance against him.
In the end, the Emperor intervened and lured the rampaging Doomsday to a distant corner of the universe.
Otherwise, it would have been hard to say if Krypton could have been saved during that battle.
The Emperor and Doomsday fought for a long time and destroyed a lot of star systems.
In the end, he used a method that caused them both to die, which was enough to seal Doomsday away.
The price was that the Emperor died in war at the same time.
And the reason why Alura was so hostile to Jack was that Doomsday was still alive, sleeping deep within the Phantom Zone.
Since Jack had the same genes as the Kryptonian Emperor, his presence here could wake up this sleeping demon.
This is not a big lie.
Doomsday was made to do a specific job from the start.
He can find a person based on their DNA, even if they are on the other side of the universe.
Unfortunately, during the great battle, Doomsday recorded the Emperor's DNA.
In other words, Doomsday can sense the presence of the Emperor.
To put it simply, the ancient Kryptonian scientists created it to be almost perfect.
"Alright, I understand the situation."
Jack nodded as he understood why.
As for why Alura could sense the Kryptonian Emperor's genes in him, it was thanks to the advanced technology of the House of El, known for being the best scientists on Krypton.
Alura quickly wants Jack to leave because the entrance to the Phantom Zone, where Doomsday is imprisoned, is not far from Krypton.
She was anxious, but Jack wasn't really worried. Aside from Doomsday's invincibility, which was slightly troublesome, it was weak in other ways.
He even thought of bringing Doomsday back to Earth for Reed to study.
If they could uncover the secret of his invincibility, they could create a massive army of Doomsday.
Just the thought of that scenario made Jack's teeth ache.
Who could withstand that force?
Even Reed would kneel before him.
However, it was only a thought.
To control Doomsday, he would need to find the Anti-Life Equation to forcefully manipulate and influence Doomsday to submit to him.
Otherwise, it was just wishful thinking.
But even Reed had spent a lifetime searching for such a thing, and who knows where it is.
"So, for the safety of Krypton and Kara, I hope you can leave!"
Seeing Jack silent, Alura couldn't help but grow anxious.
"The longer you stay on Krypton, the higher the possibility that Doomsday will sense your presence. Once he awakens, the entire universe will be in danger."
"Mama,"
Kara spoke up at this moment.
"We've been here for so long, and nothing has happened. Maybe Doomsday is already dead."
"You don't understand, Kara. Doomsday can't die! No one can kill it!"
Jack agreed with this point.
Seeing Alura getting a bit nervous, Jack sighed and said, "Alright, then I'll return to Earth first. Kara, take this."
He summoned a ring out of thin air and tossed it to Kara.
She caught it, but her face turned red because she got misunderstood something.
"This is a device. If you want to return to Earth, just twist the diamond on top, and it will teleport you back."
Jack didn't explain much.
The meaning of the ring was certainly more than just a device.
It could also generate a force field, allowing Kara to be immune to things that weaken Kryptonians, like the red sun and Kryptonite.
"So good?!"
When hearing about this highly advanced device, Kara forgot for a moment that she was shy and looked at the ring in her hand with interest.
"Alright, I'm leaving."
Jack just shrugged and quickly flew up into the sky, leaving Krypton behind.
Alura let out a sigh of relief upon seeing him finally leave. She then turned to her daughter, her face filled with love.
"Kara, tell me about your experiences all these years. How have you been living on Earth?"
"Very well, except that I missed you both."
"I missed you too, dear. How's your cousin? Have you been taking care of him?"
"Well... about that..."
