The Sleeping Spell successfully hit Gajeel, and his eyes immediately began to droop.
However, due to his nature as a Dragon Slayer, his body had special traits similar to a dragon, giving him a high resistance to magic. Coupled with his immense internal magic power and strong will, his eyelids didn't close completely before they snapped open again.
George, however, was not surprised by this. He continued to wave his wand repeatedly.
"Sleep, sleep, sleep!" he chanted, casting a series of Sleeping Spells.
One after another, he cast over a hundred spells. With the continuous barrage, Gajeel's resistance finally gave out, and his eyes closed as he fell into a deep sleep.
No matter how high his magical resistance was, unless he was immune to magic, sheer numbers would eventually have an effect.
Even the Fire Dragons in the Harry Potter world had high resistance to magic, but if a hundred wizards cast Sleeping Spells at once, it would still work.
"George, you actually... defeated Gajeel, the Ghost's S-Class Mage!"
When George landed, carrying the unconscious Gajeel, Levy and the others were still in shock, struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
Gajeel was known as one of the Ghost's S-Class Mages, and George was famous within the guild for his remarkable healing magic, never having displayed much combat prowess.
Even Erza and the others only knew that George had a fast magical recovery rate and was skilled in many supportive spells.
In the battle against Aligor, it was mostly Erza who took the lead, with George only landing a lucky blow after his magic had almost run out.
But today, George had defeated Gajeel in what looked like a one-sided fight. It was as if a father had beaten his son—Gajeel couldn't even land a single blow, and the entire battle lasted only two or three minutes.
How could they not be shocked?
Had they not fought Gajeel themselves, they might have thought him overrated.
But they had just witnessed firsthand the sheer strength of Iron Dragon Gajeel, and all their attacks had been easily countered. The gap in power was something they were still shaken by.
"This isn't what you think," George said with a smile, waving his hand. "I'm far from strong enough to beat him on my own. It was mostly luck that helped me win."
He wasn't being modest. If not for his abilities, which just happened to counter Gajeel's strengths, there was no way he could have defeated him so easily.
He was dealing with Gajeel much like Magneto would deal with Wolverine—his abilities were simply a perfect counter.
Had Gajeel been more versatile with his magic, learning spells beyond his Dragon Slayer abilities, it wouldn't have been so easy.
If this had been Natsu, it would have been a completely different story.
"Really, I'm not lying," George continued. "I have a spell that specifically targets metal, and Gajeel just happened to be vulnerable to it."
Seeing that Levy and the others still didn't quite believe him, George sighed in resignation.
"Alright, let's take him to the dorms, and we'll have Mira ask the Master what we should do next."
This situation was no longer just about taking down an empty guild. Gajeel, the Ghost's ace mage, had attacked Fairy Tail's mages. Had George not been there, Levy and the others would have been in serious trouble.
This was a direct violation of the Council's rules, and it was impossible to deny, especially since they had caught him in the act.
Given George's knowledge of Makarov, he was certain this wouldn't end the way the earlier incident had.
"Right, we need to find Mira-nee, this can't just end like this!" Levy finally snapped out of her shock, puffing her cheeks in anger. She jumped up and slapped the unconscious Gajeel, who was floating in the air.
"Ouch! This guy's face is really tough!" she grumbled.
However, her slap did no damage; instead, it only hurt her own hand. His iron-like body was as hard as metal, so hitting him was like slapping an iron block.
With Gajeel in tow, the three of them, along with the cat, marched angrily toward Fairy Tail's dormitory.
For Levy and the others, the guild was like their home, and the guild master and Mira were like their grandfather and older sister. Whenever they were wronged, they would naturally seek the adults to set things right.
Nankou Park was already quite close to the Fairy Tail dormitory, and it took them less than ten minutes to reach the building.
"Sarusuke, Dorel, go to the boys' dormitory and gather Natsu and the others. Levy, you go to the girls' dormitory and call Mira, Erza, and the others. I'll wait here!"
George gave his orders, and the three of them immediately ran to their respective destinations.
Soon, the angry roars of Fairy Tail mages could be heard from both sides, clearly furious upon hearing that Levy and the others had been attacked by the Ghost's mages.
Then came the sound of chaos as everyone scrambled, fully armed, rushing downstairs.
"Sarusuke, you're the fastest. Go to Lucy's place and tell Erza and the others to come. I'll find the guild master. We might be gearing up for something big tonight!"
Mira, usually calm and gentle, had a rare look of anger on her face. After giving Sarusuke his orders, a pair of demonic wings sprouted from her back, and she flew off towards the Eastern Forest.
"So it's true."
George watched Mira soar off, his expression thoughtful.
He had often overheard gossip in the guild's main hall, and he had heard rumors about Mira. One of the most shocking things he'd heard was that the sweet, gentle big sister, who often cried over a few words from Natsu and Gray, was actually an S-Class mage.
Apparently, Mira's power had once rivaled Erza's, and she had been a mischievous girl who enjoyed competing with Erza. Her magic wasn't the transformation magic she often used now, but a fearsome and terrifying form of demon absorption, which allowed her to merge with demons and fight alongside them.
However, after a mission led to the death of her sister, Mira's personality had drastically changed. She stopped using demon absorption magic and became more of a support figure in the guild.
But from the brief moment when Mira had exploded in anger, unleashing that overwhelming aura and magical power, it was clear that she was no ordinary mage.
That rumor, George thought, might not be false after all.
"This is Gajeel from the Ghost, huh? He actually ambushed our Levy. Once he wakes up, we'll make sure to beat him so badly that even their guild master won't recognize him."
After Mira left, the Fairy Tail mages glared at the unconscious Gajeel floating in the air, their eyes burning with fury. They could hardly wait to tear him apart, but out of respect for their status as mages, they refrained from attacking, knowing Gajeel couldn't fight back.
Levy, petite, cute, and kind-hearted, was very well-liked among the male mages of Fairy Tail.
"Levy, I can't believe you guys managed to defeat the Ghost's ace, Gajeel. Looks like your strength has really grown a lot!"
Once the atmosphere calmed down a bit, the guild's best informant, a bunny-eared mage, looked at Levy with admiration and said.
