Rizelle Vamieres was reminded that the King was her husband's target. That means... if Nicien indeed succeeded, there was a high chance for his relationship with the Crown Prince to take the worst turn.

No matter the Crown Prince's relationship with his father, there was no way for him to turn a blind eye if the latter was in danger!

"This is why I tried to push away Alerone for years," Nicien Vamieres told his wife. "I don't want him to feel too hurt or betrayed when my plan reaches its final phase. It will be better if he hates me but... I don't know if I would be able to take that."

The Princess gave a quick thought and said, "I don't think your relationship with the Crown Prince will crumble that easily. Even if there is a crack, you can try mending it, Your Highness."

She was always so optimistic and it brought a little smile to the face of the Prince who nodded in agreement.
