chapter 1

Anika stood looking at the window , she look at her watch and sigh if only she have some one to call. but she don't. Anika push the pathetic and unpleasant thought aside as some one entered the room , it was her classmate Betty.

"Hi have you seen my Harold"

"No I don't even have idea of whom you're talking about"

"Right . Betty paused and look at Anika with her hands on her forehead. He's new and you know, I want to know if he has come in here looking for me"

"No I haven't see any new face around here.

"okay uh... aren't you going home" Betty asked her wondering why she is still in the class all alone.

Anika smile tightly "i'm waiting for my mom"

Betty gave her a weird look. she was not expecting an adult who is in college to be fully dependent on her parent. maybe hers is strict she thought before bidding Anika goodbye

"okay see you later"

Anika gave her a small smile and wave at her as she begin to drift into her thoughts that was interrupted earlier by Betty but seconds later her mom called and she gave a relieved sigh

"Anika?

"Hi mom"

"Am sorry I won't be able to make it I have an audition in Paris so I will be flying to Paris in the next minute . see you"

"mom I..." Anika couldn't finish her statement before her mom hang up. Anika know how important auditions are to her mother, being an upcoming actress she was after fame and wealth that she will go to any length to achieve it even if it means leaving her daughter without no transport fare or any means to go home.

Anika turn to leave, when the weather change she knew that it going to be a heavy downpour but she can't wait . it's already 5:34pm and her home is miles away from school. so as she went outside it began to rain heavily but she kept walking until she heard Betty yelling her name she stop and turn towards her car

"Can't you see it's raining heavily?

"yeah but I can't wait even if I do, I don't have a transport fare" Anika said shrugging

"come in "she said opening the door for Anika to enter " I thought you said your mom is taking you home" she said as soon as Anika settle in the car

"yeah about that she left you know for an audition"

Betty gave her a sympathetic look which she return with a smile

"you know you can stay at my house still the rain is over or will your dad mind? Betty said still thinking Anika have a strict parents who are overprotective of their

"No ....." Anika sigh heavily "he's not alive" Anika replied slowly

"am so sorry I don't mean to bring back sad memories"

"it okay he died when I was ten"

" that must be very sad"

Anika smile tightly. she won't understand if she told her she was relieved when her father died. After many years of emotional and physical abuse from her father she was happy when her she heard her father was in coma which means free weeks of emotional and physical attack . even though she consider her father as the most wicked man she have ever met yet she still love him. Her thoughts was interrupted when a large marble mansion came in view she was awestruck she was not expecting Betty to come from this wealthy home she have known through Betty's dressing and the expensive cars she do change occasionally she was rich but she never expect her to be this rich .

"we're home" Betty said as she pull her car in the garage which is as large as her whole house.

she come out from the car giving Betty an apologetic look

"Am sorry for wetting the sit of your car with my damp cloth" she said somehow embarrassed of herself

"Geez Anika it's nothing . c'mon Anika let's get inside it is raining"

"oh yeah" Anika said as they stop at the door post then Betty press the door bell

"Mom open the door. will you? it raining heavily" she said yelling due to the heavy downpour and the sound of the lightening

"am coming honey"

later the door was open by a woman who look almost like a teenager. She hesitate when she saw her daughter's damp cloth then divert her attention to Anika.

"sorry sweetie I was busy with your father . oh you brought your friend"

"yeah can we come in"

"sorry" she said opening the door wide for them to enter

"Mom this is Anika she's my classmate"

"wow sweetie she's beautiful"

Anika blush

"c'mon go and change then come down for dinner"

"The girls went into Betty's bedroom. which was as big as a princess bedroom and too feminine.

"Anika choose any cloth of your choice " she said as she off her clothes

Anika head to the wardrobe which was filled with beautiful and expensive clothing which are either too short and tight or revealing and so indecent

"huh.... Betty everything here look indecent"

Betty walk towards her looking at her clothes and the grin at her

"am sorry Anika I don't wear clothes you consider decent. but you can wear this one"

she said bring out a skimpy lace dress which will be so tight for her.

"I can't wear this Betty"

"why not it will fit you perfectly bringing out all your curves and nice leg .try it on" she said tossing the cloth at her

Anika went into the toilet and change then come out standing in the front of Betty

"oh my gosh you looking breathtaking"

"no Betty am looking awkward it's too short and tight"

"and it suit you perfectly. C'mon Anika lunch is set " Betty said dragging her downstairs. when they got down stairs they were already having dinner

"Geez Elizabeth what keep you so long and who is the beauty behind you" Victor Betty elder brother asked as his eye and other people present in the dinning look at her making her so self conscious

"she's my classmate her name is Anika" Betty said as they both took their seat "where is dad?

"he went to his office to pick some files"

"oh"that was what Betty manage to say as she load her mouth with food. Anika look at Victor who is winking at heri causing a blush on her cheek as she look away but accidentally looking into the cold eyes of the most beautiful creature ever. He gave her a cold look then look away but she continue to stare at him until Betty caught her staring and grin at her causing her to blush. then she hurriedly force some food into her mouthcausing her to choke and cough until she was red Victor, Betty and Betty's mom help her by giving her some water which she splash on her body due to the cough after she calm down Betty and her mom help her to standup

"are you okay dear"

she nodded , embarrassed then turn to look at the person who caused her to choke , who was there starring daggers at her

"c'mon sweetie you need to rest ,Betty show her to the guest room" Betty's mom said looking at her with so much concern

"I can take her" Victor said flashing Betty a toothy grin which she return with a glare at him before showing Anika to the guestroom

as soon as they entered the guestroom Betty flash her a knowing grin.
