I Want The Girl

Miland College Female Dormitory.

"How is your grandmother?" Hailey asked as soon as Aria came into the room. She wasn't able to sleep throughout the night because of how worried she was about her friend.

"I need your help." Aria pleaded desperately.

"My help?"

Aria suddenly grabbed Hailey's arms and said, "My grandma has been poisoned, and the doctor said there isn't a human cure for her. The poison that was used must have come from the supernatural world, and you know so much about werewolves and witches, so you must also know how to find a cure for my grandmother, right?"

"Aria, I don't know anything about poisons or cures." Hailey said, flustered at the way Aria suddenly grabbed her arm, and the worst part was that her grip was so strong that Hailey couldn't break out even if she wanted to.

Wasn't Aria just a harmless and powerless wolf? Then why is her grip so strong?

Hailey winced in pain, and Aria came back to her senses as she realized what she was doing. She quickly released her hold on Hailey and apologized, "Sorry, I... I didn't mean to hurt you. I don't even know how I did that."

"It's alright." Hailey said as she saw the redness in her arms slowly disappearing.

"There has to be a way to save my grandmother," Aria said, her voice shaking with tears. "There has to be, Hailey."

Hailey clenched her fist as she said, "There is a way, but..."

"But what?"

"It comes with a price."

Aria cleaned her tears as she said, "It doesn't matter. I will work for the rest of my life, just to pay for it. I already have some savings with me, and also I can take multiple jobs just to pay for it."

"Aria, you are not understanding what I'm saying. The price isn't money."

"If it isn't money, then what is it?"

"I don't know what it will be for you. Who knows what he might ask you to do?"

"He?"

"He is the only one I know who can provide a cure for your grandmother; however, he does nothing for free."

"I don't care. If he wants my life, then he can take it as long as my grandmother becomes alright."

Guilt gripped Hailey's heart as she realized that she was taking advantage of Aria's vulnerability. Why? Why did her father have to make her betray the only true friend she has ever made in her life? What does her father really want with Aria?

'If you want our pack to once again become glorious as it was many years ago, then you must do as I say with no questions asked.' Hailey's father's words rang in her ears, and even though she felt guilty, she knew she had no choice. Her father had said it was her duty to her pack, and he had promised her that no harm would come to Aria. She must believe his words and go ahead with what he has asked her to do.

"You shouldn't say such things. We should go to him right now and hope that whatever he asks of you won't be difficult."

Aria nodded and said, "Thank you so much, Hailey. I wouldn't have known what to do without you."

Hailey pulled her into a hug and whispered, "What are friends for anyway?"

Aria had already made up her mind that whatever this man asked for, she would do it. Even if he asked her to give her life in return for her grandmother's, then she would do so without blinking an eye.

.....

A fifty-two-year-old man frowned as he stepped into a dimly lit basement and saw a middle-aged woman lighting candles.

"I have offered you a villa, but yet you chose to stay here with the mouse." The man sneered in disgust as he saw a rat run past him.

The woman blew on her matchstick after lighting the last candle and asked, "Did the poison work?"

"Ivy is already on her deathbed, and her granddaughter will soon come to me, pleading for help." The old man replied but suddenly frowned as he asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I hope you know what you are doing."

"I am certain about my actions. A mere sorceress like you would know nothing about my struggles; just focus on your magic while I focus on getting back what belongs to me."

"Don't forget your promise to me. After she has completed your task, I want the girl."

"And that is something I still don't understand. I agree that Aria comes from a rare line of wolves, but why is a witch so interested in a wolfless and powerless girl?"

The sorceress remained silent, and the old man scoffed.

"Suit yourself. Just give me what I came here for."

The witch gave the man a small bottle and watched as he left.

After he left, the witch looked at one of her candles that suddenly went off and said, "You tried so hard to hide your daughter from me, Layla, but now in desperation to save her grandmother, that child will come to me on her own."
