Third person POV...
The man and lady of the house were dressed up ready to leave for their meeting. Both in the living room, patiently awaiting the arrival of their kids, just so they could mete out whatever instructions they had for them.
Ashley soon came hurrying down the stairs, giving a squeal while twirling in front of their figures.
"How do I look?" She questioned.
Her eyes broadened immediately, ears perked, awaiting the response she yearned to hear roll out her father's lips.
Worn on her body was a mid-length tight fitting dress, paired up with thigh high boots.
"Beautiful.....Very beautiful" Mr Williams cleared his throat, eyes accessing the outfit on his 'innocent' girl.
"But sweetheart, it's just a party. It's not prom" He stated.
His utterance earned him an eye-roll from the girl, who in fact had took her time going through the depths of her closet just to pick out something to her taste. No rebuttal from any one would cause her turning around to get changed into something else.
The figures of Tyler and Logan descended the stairs at that moment alongside Jordan.
"We're ready to Leave"
"I'm driving" Jordan announced , jingling the car keys in his hands as he proceeded out with the twins tagging right behind.
"Be careful. Do not get into any trouble and be back before eleven" Mrs Williams called after them, voice echoing through the room.
Nia's POV...
The continuous calling of my name by Mrs Williams caused me hurrying out of the kitchen into the living room.
Her eyes took a brief pause on my figure the moment I stepped into the room.
She soon shifted her gaze away peering into the purse held in her grip, rummaging through it.
"Do ensure to keep an eye on the kids" She began.
"Take them to their rooms, and make sure all the doors remain locked."
"Do not let anyone in here. Not even Cameron's girlfriend. She stated specifically, eyes gazing once more at me.
"We'll be back soon, okay?" I gave a nod at every of her utterance, watching as she hurried out with Mr Williams while reviewing the instructions, making sure I heard every word correctly.
At this point, her instructions were already registered in my head as she went on and about It.
She would return into the house, the moment her feet stepped onto the porch, going through it all again.
Perhaps, she was terrified of leaving the whole building to a maid unguarded, or was she just too concerned of leaving her kids all alone?
I Shut the door at once, making sure to turn the lock the instant Mrs Williams got into her husband's car. Even from here I could see her profile still peering at the house, while the car pulled out.
Her eyes refused letting go, not until the gate shut at once, and the car drove further out of sight.
I spun around at once, ready to go tend to the kids' needs only to find Cameron stood feet away, watching me with a blank expression fixed on his face.
His eyes looked weak, yet they managed to make me uncomfortable. His stare remained just too killing.
Walking past him with a tinge of nervousness creeping through the walls of my heart, I proceeded up the stairs evading his figure, and the burning stares that came with it.
Whatever have I gotten myself into?
Going into Dylan's room, I found the young boy playing a game on his game console, punching furiously at the pads held in his hold.
"C'mon Dylan, go to sleep." I uttered to an unfocused boy whose attention and gaze was entirely placed on the large screen before his eyes.
"Don't feel like it" He gave a response without even turning my way.
"Pleaseeee" I drawled, shifting closer to his figure.
"I'm tired already." I added.
"If you really do want me to go to bed, come play this game with me" He uttered, finally taking a glance up at me.
"Just once." He added, drawing his lips into a pout.
"If I play the game" I began, eyes watching his with much intent, while drawing closer to his figure.
At this point, I was already onto the deal this tiny creature and I were about making.
"Will you go to bed?" I added.
"I promise." Followed his response at once.
A smile grew on my lips at this, delight filling my eyes. Not like I was a pro at gaming and all, but knowing I was just close to retiring for the night, was enough to cause the glee filling my gaze.
Twenty minutes later...
"I won" My voice rang out with much joy touching my words.
"Again!" I added, squealing like a kid, arms thrown in the air while swinging them side to side.
My eyes at once fell on Dylan who was already fast asleep, figure laid on the ground, curled in a ball-like position.
A sigh escaped my lips at the sight, wonders filling my heart.
I gave him a light tap on his right arm, jolting him and then leading him over to the bed.
Once assured that he was deep in his slumber, reliving the wild day he had in his dreams, I stepped out of the room, proceeding over to the room belonging to Derrick.
It came as a surprise for me meeting David in the room, seeing as to how each one of the kids had their own free space.
The kid's hands were wrapped around his knees, eyes moving around at each second, shifting from one corner to another.
Meanwhile, Derrick laid fast asleep, perhaps unaware of the figure of his brother sat next to him, rocking back and forth.
"Is everything alright?" I questioned at once, noticing the fear in his eyes.
"Don't you wanna go to your room?"
His gaze rested on me for a brief moment, and not long after, he looked away as if avoiding my scrutiny.
"I can't. I'm scared." His voice croaked, coming out in a whisper.
"why are you scared?" I questioned, approaching the bedside where he was.
"I don't know"
"Probably cause the house is so silent." He said to me in a weak voice.
"Please don't tell Dylan and Derrick" He began, eyes finally meeting mine.
"They'll laugh at me all day. Nonstop." He added.
"I won't." I replied softly.
Still, I had no idea if my words did enough in convincing the kid that I wouldn't dare telling on him.
"Thank you" He muttered.
For a few seconds, I remained where I stood watching as the fear took total control of the boy.
He would shift his eyes to every little sound made, and then back to my figure, perhaps checking if I still was present.
"Could you please stay with me?" I heard him say, voice barely audible.
"Sure." Followed my response.
"How old are you?" He asked out of nowhere, eyes boring into mine as I took a sit on the bed right next to his figure.
"Sixteen."
"Aren't you too young to be working?" He questioned, while relaxing back on the bed.
"I need the money." I spoke to him.
"What for?"
Taking a brief pause, I finally spoke.
"My mom has a heart disease" My own voice could barely be heard, I fiddled with my fingers, my eyes away from Dylan's figure, while I made known, that, which the boy enquired.
"If treatment doesn't commence immediately, then as much as the doctors know, she'll die."
Were my words heavy to the ears of this little child? Perhaps, they should be lightened.
"That's so sad"
"Is she scared of dying?"
"Where would she go if she dies?" He threw questions at me nonstop.
My eyes stared on at him, watching the curiosity which rested in his gaze
"I don't know how to answer that question, David---I sighed--- but I hope she doesn't die. She's all I have." I uttered to him in a weak voice, trying so hard to fight back the tears that were forming in my eyes.
"I can't imagine what it's like to lose mom" He clicked his tongue, adjusting himself well on the bed.
"I wanna be with her always." He added in a whisper.
"You won't lose her. She'll always be here with you"
My hands grabbed his warmly, holding them in mine, seemingly giving comfort to the young boy.
Getting up to my feet after a while, I gave his cheek a light stroke, flashing a smile at him.
"Goodnight." I whispered.
"Goodnight." He responded lowly, eyes soon shutting not long after.
The minute I stepped out into the hallway, I heard distant noises coming from downstairs.
Right from up here where I stood, I could see Cameron letting Savannah into the house.
In a second, she had her arms wrapped around him, kissing him at once.
This so was no concern of me, I had somewhere else to be. I rang in my head.
I then turned around, ready to go look for a guest room just so I could giving my aching head and bones a place to rest for the night.
minutes after minutes of searching, I still couldn't locate the wing where the guest rooms were situated.
Could this house just be that big? Or was there no available room?
I was walking in the hallway, still on the look for where to lay, when I came across Cameron coming from the other direction, with Savannah holding tightly to his arms.
The instant his eyes connected with mine, he slowed in his tracks, looking at my figure as if daring me to speak.
"Why is she always here whenever I'm around?" Savannah whined, turning over to him.
"It's alright."
He assured her at once.
He pulled her closer, kissing her on the lips resulting in the girl giving a high pitched giggle.
Are they seriously making out in front of me?
I tried moving away, but the pair seemed to be blocking my path.
Cameron pulled back at once breaking the kiss after a brief moment, he glanced at me, but then looked away, leading Savannah to his room.
My eyes rested on their figures, watching as they both left.
Turning around, and was just about taking my own leave, when I noticed a door directly opposite Cameron's room.
On getting over, I pushed it open, revealing a guest room I hadn't discovered earlier on.
A sigh escaped my lips at once, while I proceeded into the comfort of the space.
Switching on the lights, I started arranging the area, dusting the bed which looked like it hadn't been slept in, in such long time.
Oh, for how long have these sheets been in here? I thought to myself while straightening the creases and grabbing the pillows, setting them in place.
The feel of the bed was soft, warm and for sure calling.
It didn't take much for my body sinking into the mattress, letting sleep englobe me.
Few minutes gone, and I found myself turning around, twisting uncomfortably, just cause I couldn't shut my eyes.
The moans which poured out from the room opposite, was enough reason for sleep evading me.
Whatever could be going on in there?
Burying my face in the pillow, I tried blocking out the noise, still, it was all to no avail.
I got up after a while, soon proceeding out of the room, right outside the door, I shut my ears with a start, hearing Savannah moan loudly.
So loud, it could deafen the ears.
Unable to bear it no more, I went downstairs, deciding it was much better and peaceful to have my sleep in the living room.
10:30 p.m. The clock read.
Finally shutting my eyes, hoping this time sleep would come about, but still, I found myself being restless, thinking about my mom.
Was the transplant carried out successfully?
Who knows how she'd be faring?
These were the questions I asked myself.
After much thoughts, I decided I had to see her immediately, I really didn't care if it was late or not, I just had to go to the hospital.
At once, I got to my feet, going upstairs to check on the boys, making sure they were still sleeping, and nothing was out of order.
I tiptoed out of the room quietly, going into one of the bathrooms to have my face washed.
A fair amount of water splashed over my face, and then drying it with a towel from the rail, I proceeded downstairs, ready to take my leave.
No one had to know I was leaving the house. Certainly not him, I reminded as my mind drifted to just one person.
Mrs Williams had instructed me to stay till they returned.
I really had no intentions of disobeying her, but I just had to. For the sole reason of getting to my mom.
Tiptoeing towards the front door, and just about opening it, I heard a voice behind me.
Dammit! That smooth voice. I recognised the voice at once.
Turning around slowly, and my thoughts were confirmed as I saw Cameron staring at me with a blank expression.
He was shirtless, and his hair remained in a muffled mess. My eyes managed to find its way to his body, observing in an intense way.
Now I understood why Savannah stuck to him. The boy was undeniably handsome. The Williams were all good looking. Every single one of them.
"Where are you going?" His voice filled my ears.
"Nowhere." I spoke immediately, eyes averting away from his figure.
"I saw you sneaking out." He stated.
"I....I wasn't-" My words got hitched in my throat, coming out in a stutter.
"I know my mom told you not to let Savannah into the house" He began, taking few steps forward.
"If you make mention of me letting her in--He took a pause, his gaze peering intently into mine--I'll tell her you tried sneaking out while everyone was asleep."
I tried to speak, but he cut me off immediately.
"Or were you trying to sneak out with something?."
"No, I wasn't." I said immediately.
"What makes you think I believe you?"
"After all, you very much know how to take other people's things." He added
I looked at him immediately, clearly unhappy with the way he spoke.
"I am not a thief!" My voice came out a bit high, croaking lightly.
"Says the girl who took a thousand bucks from my room." He replied.
"I don't want you cleaning my room again"
He remained feet away, staring at me in silence, watching my figure.
"And like I said, You owe me." He added in a whisper, turning around then walking away.
My gaze followed his figure as he ascended the stairs, meanwhile, all of the tears soon came rushing into my eyes.
