Once Alex had left, Emily stood up from her chair. She and Alex had conversed for over an hour, and she had forgotten that she had tons of work that still needed tending to. Once she wiped her mouth of the bread crumbs, Emily turned around to leave, and then she froze once she saw the person staring at her.
"Hi," Angelo greeted her. His facial expression was unreadable because he looked as though he was unbothered. Emily, on the other hand, looked as though she were a deer caught in headlights. Her thoughts began pondering whether Angelo had seen Alex or not. Finally, she opened her mouth to speak, hopefully to explain to Angelo that Alex was nothing more than a friend, but no words left her mouth.
She watched Angelo raise his eyebrows at her as though silently questioning whether she would respond to his greeting or not. "Hi!" she yelled out, and soon after, she bit her tongue once she realized that she had yelled out her greeting.
