Charlie

My brother comes barging into my room, "who do you have in here?"

I look up at him bewildered, "n-no one..."

"I heard you talking to someone, Charlie. Don't like to me." Max snaps at me.

My eyes flicker to my bathroom door and max instantly catches on storming in that direction.

"Max stop!" I yell trying to get in front of him but he easily overpowers me.

Max Simmons is 6"4 of pure muscle and curly, dark hair. He's the oldest of Luca and me being 22.

"Max, stop! I have no one in here." Max ploughs my bathroom doors open and storms in, turning everything upside-down and flinging the cupboards open.

"Who were you talking to then, Charlie? It better not be that Ryder boy because dad told me that happened."

"No, Max. I was talking to myself." I try and convince him but by the madman expression on his face, I can tell he ain't having it.

"What were you doing talking to yourself?" Max asked facing me.

I grab his shoulders and direct him to the door opening it for him to leave, "well Maximus, when you get certain urges-"

"NO NO NO!" he screams covering his hears and running out of my room.

I laugh as I watch him run down the hall and around the corner.

"MAAAAM CHARLIE'S SCARRED ME!"

A loud laugh escapes my throat as I shut the bedroom door behind me and my closet door opens, Ryder's head peeking out, "is it safe?"

I smile at him and walk over opening the door fully, "yeah it's safe."

Ryder unfolds himself from the closet and stretches out, "fucking hell, Charles. You'd think you'd have a bigger closet."

"I don't need a bigger closet. All my clothes fit in there." And I don't. I don't get rich people who buy all these big walk-in wardrobes with all these clothes and shoes and whatnot. Like, you're not going to wear all of them.

Ryder flops on my bed and rests his arms on his forehead, "so..."

"Yeah?" I sit next to him on the bed and cross my legs.

"Urges, huh?" Ryder asks as he starts to laugh.

My face heats up and I cover my face, "oh my god no." I begin to laugh myself, "I didn't know how to get him out."

Ryder pries my hands away from my face and looks at me. I can't hold my laughter in anymore and I rest my head on his shoulder and start laughing my head off.

"I'm sorry," I say in between breaths.

"For what?" Ryder questions.

"For all of this," I wave my hand around hoping he gets my point, "I didn't mean to kiss you the first time... or the second time." I sigh, "but then you kissed me back and... I don't know, I just haven't felt like that before."

"I understand." He whispers against my hair.

"You do?"

He does?

"I do." His hands cup my face and he tips my head back allowing him to see my face, "Charlie Simmons, I have known you since the very second you were born. We grew up on the same street until we were twelve and we've been going to the same private schools since we were four." My heart does a full 360 hearing Ryder's words, "so don't underestimate for one second that I haven't been feeling exactly what you felt since I was a boy."

"I- I didn't know that." I say quietly. I look down and fidget with my fingers.

"Now you do." he places a kiss on my head. It was the most tenderest soft kiss ever.

He just holds me there for a while until a comfortable silence washes over us, "What do we do now?"

"Now I leave before your brother comes storming back in and I'll see you tomorrow." He smiles down at me and I return the gesture.

"Goodnight, Ryder." I say walking him over to the infamous balcony.

"Goodnight, Charlie." Ryder says hugging me before he climbs over my balcony.

He stops whilst he straddles the bars, "We'll take this slow, Sweet-pea. Don't worry."

"Thank you." I smile at him. I turn around and close the door behind me.

Picking up the throw from my chair I wrap it around me and crawl onto the bed turning on the TV with a satisfied smile on my face.

I'm happy.

For the first time in a while, I'm really happy.
