Celebration Theif: The second Commandment pt 1

The weather had gave way to Evans's plead not to rain on their way to the palace, Evans kept stopping once in a while unable to ride because of his wound, luckily Kristen assured him that he will survive the dinner.

By the time they arrive there the sun was already setting, the guards let them into the the castle, the gold and silver walls blinded the visitors, the castle was elegant without having to say a word the castle showed off its wealth, even the floor was waxed to the point of seeing their reflection there, it felt and seemed like heaven to Evans.

"It's a beauty isn't it?" Kristen chuckled both her hands on her waist.

"Indeed, a work of art" Evans nodded while he scanned the place. "Have you been here before?" Evans asked looking at Kristen who definitely seemed to have been here before.

"Yes, my father worked here as a librarian so I spent most of my time here"

"You said worked? Where does he work now?" Evans asked again puzzled.

"He passed on, killed by vampires" Kristen gave a weak laughter that pushed back the tears that wanted to come out. "But they did not believe me because the vampires were sealed away, how absurd" She sighed.

The doors ahead opened followed by footsteps, two guards cane out first followed by King Matthew' and the other King's name he did not know of.

"You have arrived, we are blessed to have you join is for a meal, pardon my manners I am Charon, that is what you can address me as" The king smiled but you wouldn't know he was smiling but only his big white beard stretching from both sides that he was smiling. The two men shared a polite handshake.

"I am honored to be here myself my Lord, I am Evans, And Matthews I'm glad you made it out in one peace" Evans had to force the words out of his mouth, they both nodded to each other.

"Do not fear Evans I am well, how are my people?" Matthews asked, Evan's face went cold and dropped his head with a sigh.

"I am afrai6 there is nothing left to call a palace my lord, it is a graveyard, bodies everywhere and there is no survivor except me and Skyler and those guards you left with" Evans shrugged.

Matthews looked away clearly stunned but his expression showed that he was expecting6 such words from them. "And Skyler? Where is he?"

"He is well, just out of town to care to some important matters"

King Charon placed his hand on Matthew's shoulder in sympathy. "Do not loose hope my friend all will be well. Now please join us, you and the young lady" He spike in delight urging them to follow him to the dining hall. The room was big, most of the left side wall was glass windows stretching to the very end of the wall and on the right was large portraits of who knows who and right in the middle was a long gold dining table and silver chairs on both sides that reached the very end of the table and of course right on the table laid an all you can eat buffet of food.

"Please be seated and help yourselves the wine will be brought shortly" Charon's voice echoed the whole room as they all obeyed and seated, Evans flitched instantly before he sat down and Matthews noticed it.

"Goodness Evan are you alright? What happened to you?"

"Nothing I could not handle, got into a little fight here" Evans tried not to scream out in pain and simply leaned back. "I must say my lord your home is very luxurious"

"Ah thank you young man, it is all work of all the people in that wall" He pointed at the wall behind them. "They are the true legends"

"Now who I'd this young lady here Evans?" Matthews glanced at Kristen who was quietly eating here food.

"This is Kristen, she is the one I owe my life to" Evans smiled at Kristen who immediately smiled back.

"Oh I thank you very much young lady" Matthews smiled and Kristen nodded in appreciation which puzzled Evans for a while.

"Thank you my lord it was nothing at all"

The wine was brought and the feast was slowly indulged with the wine, it was already dark by that time and fire torches were lit and placed all around the room. Evans was now impatient and wanted to take what he came here for and Kristen was aware of it.

"So my lord why did you call for me?" Evans asked after gulping down the last bit of wine in his glass.

"Oh after I heard that a man of your built was seen at the bar and a woman girl Kristen took you, I simply told Matthews I knew where you were" Charon answered.

"I wanted to be certain you and Skyler survived the attack" Matthews added clearly thinking they had become friends Evans thought, such a waste.

"Well I am good in health as you can see" Evans cleared his throat and slowly stood up. "Excuse me I need to relief myself"

"Oh I'll ask the guards to show you the way" Charon replied snapping his fingers for the guards to come forth.

"No no, I'll find my way there's no need to showe" Evans insisted, he eyed Kristen who slowly nodded back.

As soon as Evans closed the doors of the dining hall it was quiet, he asked the guards where the toilet was located and went about his business, on his way there he came across two guards standing side by side on a large gold two door room.

"Hey you two, why are you stand in here?"

"Tis' the King's orders we guard the library with our lives" One of the guards answered not moving his head to stare at Evans, he simply kept it motionless like he was looking at somewhere far from where he was standing.

"A library?" Evans repeated mockingly then suddenly he remembered a posible reason for why they might be standing there. "A library huh? May I go in?"

The two men looked at each other and nodded letting him in the room.
