TWO POSSIBILITIES

Finn relayed the information to Alan, detailing Adrian's visit to someone's house, where an elderly person had welcomed him. Half an hour later, Adrian emerged from the house seemingly unchanged, except for the mystery surrounding his purpose for the visit.

Alan allowed Adrian to leave, not only because of the lack of evidence but also out of curiosity to see how Adrian would proceed. The situation appeared suspicious, as Alan had never heard Adrian mention having any relatives or acquaintances apart from the information Selena had provided about his little sister.

"Keep an eye on him. He's been acting strangely lately. I'm not certain about what's happening, but let's hope for the best," Alan instructed as he began sorting through the files. Recognizing that Alan was occupied, Finn quietly exited the room.

"I'm home, Emi," Adrian announced upon his return, only to discover Emilie sprawled on the ground with visible breath escaping her mouth. "What has happened to you now?" Adrian rushed to Emilie's side and gently turned her over, playfulness etched across his face.

"Adrian, if I die, promise me you won't be sad. Promise me you won't get another little sister. Please, say it," Emilie implored in the midst of her emotional farewell. However, as her stomach let out a rumble, she dashed for the bathroom. Adrian couldn't help but chuckle at her antics, thinking, 'She's remarkably adept at brightening my mood.'

Adrian settled into his chair, his mind contemplating the course of action ahead. He patiently awaited Emilie's return from her brief absence, eager to hear her suggestions. Despite her youthful innocence, he knew that her fresh perspective often proved valuable.

Emilia returned, clutching her stomach with a pallor that made her seem almost ghostly.

"I told you to slow down on chips." Adrian couldn't resist taking a gentle jab at her. Emilia didn't say anything and just sat down, fixating her gaze on the TV.

"So what happened? I'm sure you have a lot of things to explain," Emilia asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Adrian explained to her what had transpired at the police station and how he was seen standing beside the mutilated bodies on the CCTV footage.

"I received a call from Alaya. She was the one behind Katharine and seems to have formed a group of people for some purpose, although she hasn't revealed the details yet," Adrian explained.

Adrian proceeded to tell her about his visit to Alaya's place and their encounter.

Adrian confided in Emilia, revealing his encounter with Alaya and the existence of a powerful relic called the "fake moon." He expressed his feelings of frustration and vulnerability, grappling with the fact that there were others out there who could outsmart him.

"How did she find out about your weakness, and what did she mean when she said she knew about your condition?" Emilie inquired, her curiosity piqued as she sought to unravel the mysteries surrounding Alaya's knowledge of Adrian's vulnerabilities.

Adrian pondered for a moment and then replied, "I think she knows I don't have cores." He believed this could be the key to Alaya's knowledge and power over him.

Emilie was astonished and asked, "You don't have cores? How do you use your powers, then? It's so different from anyone I've heard of."

Adrian chuckled softly and replied, "What powers? I don't possess any powers."

"How did you kill Henry then?

"With my charm."

"..."

"I killed him with my powers. I'm not exactly powerless, but there are conditions for me to use my abilities, and it's quite different from what normal people have. I don't know how to explain it to you," Adrian admitted, struggling to convey the complexity of his situation.

"Alright, I get where you're coming from, but then why the heck would she even want you? What's so useful about you? I can't see any reason she'd go through all this trouble just to get you on board. Doesn't it sound a bit fishy?" Emilie's words did seem to raise a valid point.

"It stings to hear it, but you've got a point. The real problem is, should I actually go along with what she's asking for? And what if she decides to come after me – how am I supposed to defend myself?" Adrian grappled with these concerns, having already agreed to her request.

"Adrian, you mentioned she's from the Moon Believers. I've heard of them, but I've got no clue what the Wisdom Path is," Emilie remarked, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Moon Believers, as the name implies, draw their powers from the moon. They've got these strange abilities, if I had to sum it up. Unlike us, their abilities are diverse, and one common thread among their kind is their pride."

Hearing this, Adrian couldn't help but recollect Alaya and her behavior. She didn't come across as particularly proud or narcissistic, but she did give off a bossy vibe. It was as if she wanted to hold the world in the palm of her hand.

"And you mentioned she created that sound-dome. She claims to be from the Wisdom Path and then pulls off this silence trick. It's contradictory. Two possibilities: one, she's lying about being part of the Wisdom Path, or two, she's got more than one relic, which, in itself, is pretty unusual." Adrian considered these possibilities.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Handling multiple relics simultaneously is a real strain on the soul, unless you're seriously powerful and can withstand their backlashes," Adrian concurred, acknowledging Emilie's point.

Emilie contemplated for a moment before adding, "She knew about your weakness. She knows where you live. She knows your habits and even how you killed Henry. It's like she can access memories or see things directly, as she mentioned you touching the mirror. That mirror might have been an extension of her power or something."

"If that's true, then her soul must be incredibly strong," Adrian added, following Emilie's line of thought.

"The best course of action is to learn more about her while doing what she's asking of you. Otherwise, I doubt she'll let you go, considering the effort she put into bringing you in," Emilie advised, reminding Adrian of his vulnerability in the presence of those born with innate powers, unlike him.

Adrian let out a sigh and glanced at his cane, thinking, "You better be more helpful from now on. I'll be counting on you," to himself.
