To the Moon and Back

I can't believe it! I got my body back and not only that, I feel great! It feels like I can run one thousand laps in under a second and still have energy left to spare. My only complaint is that I'm wearing clothes that look like I came from Comic Con, but beggars can't be choosers, especially if it is a second chance at life.

Angelus was staring at me showing no emotion on his face.

"Do you feel any different than when you were a human?" Angelus asks suddenly.

I stare at Angelus for a few seconds before answering. Now that he mentions it, I have been feeling this odd sensation since I got my body back.

"Yeah, it feels like overwhelming pressure is trying to crush me. What the hell is that?"

"That, my Acolyte, is what we like to call Life Force. Every living being has one from gods to demons, vampires, werewolves, and even humans have them, although they're so weak you can't tell them one from each other. Humans who are sensitive to the supernatural, as well as the supernatural, can detect another's Life Force signature. Also, everybody has their own life force signature, a useful tip for the future."

"If that's the case, then how come I can't sense you even though we are having a conversation right now?"

"That's because I exist on a higher plane of existence. It'll be similar if you try to look at an atom with the naked eye. Well, that and I'm not alive in the technical sense, but that's neither here nor there."

"That's some pretty good information and all, but why are you telling me this?"

"Because I want you to go search out the strongest being with the most powerful Life Force and kill it."

"Dude, I have never been in a fight before in my life and you want me to kill something?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying, dude. But don't worry about it, as my Acolyte, now you have all of the knowledge you need to be a capable fighter."

"Really? Can I do magic?"

Angelus looks at me confusingly.

"Sure you can. I already said that you have all that you need to be a capable fighter, including magic."

A huge smile forms across my face.

"Why didn't you just start off with that?! I always wanted to be a wizard!"

Angelus arches his eyebrow.

"You wanted to be a wizard despite you not knowing magic existed until recently?"

"It's called playing pretend. Don't tell me you never had a childhood."

"I was never a child. Now go, you have your mission."

"Yeah, whatever."

Angelus disappears right before my eyes, leaving me by myself for the first time since I came back to life. I look around my surroundings, and I see nothing but a sea of grass as far as the eye can see. You would think that there was never a civilization here just a few moments ago. Assuming that I was dead for only a few minutes.

I close my eyes to sense out the strongest Life Force energy that I can, something I never imagine I'll say in all of my life, but yet here we are. After a few seconds of concentration, I found a pretty powerful foe. It's to the East of me, a few miles from where I am currently at.

Walking there is out of the question, it'll take me months to get there.

It's a good thing that I don't have to walk anymore seeing I am an Acolyte to the Avatar of Chaos, which is too surreal to me. Angelus said that my body has changed and I think it's about time I test out what my new body can do.

I bend my knees, getting ready to take a leap. I take a deep breath and hope that I can do what I hope I can do.

Here goes nothing.

I jump.

Instead of going forward, as I intended, I jump straight into the sky.

I soon move past the sky and enter the exosphere in under a second. Before my mind registered that I just jumped into freaking space, I crash-landed hard into the surface of the moon. Moon dust kicked up everywhere and got on my clothes and skin. Never thought in a million years that I would be covered in moon dust. The surface of the moon started to form giant cracks.

Holy shit, I really just jumped to the moon! I thought.

What's even more surprising is that it didn't even hurt when I landed.

Being an Acolyte is going to be freaking awesome!
