Meanwhile Luna whom just came back from the City Park with Lily, did not know that her desserts had caused chaos in Mu Corp CEO's office.
She strode into the house and directly went to the bedroom to help Lily took her bath and changed. After she made sure her daughter sat comfortably on her own bed doing puzzles, she proceeded to showered and changed before Alex came back home. She was anxious about the so-called discussion because she knew, there were inevitable issues that need to be raised.
Ten minutes passed five, she could hear Alex's car was parked at the driveway. If she was not mistaken, this was the first time he came back home early in the past three years of their marriage. At the early of their marriage, Alex was busy building his own company, so he always came back late at night.
But now, she did not know anymore. It's not because she never asked him to came back as early as he could, but he always said he was busy. She did not wants to be a nuinsance to him, so she just asked him to take care of his health.
"Click."
The clicked sound of the door being open snapped Luna from her wandering mind. She looked towards the front door and saw Alex's startled expression when he realized she had waiting for him in the living room. Alex tried to pass her an amiable smile but it looked stiff. She smiled softly and stood up to do her usual routine, hanging his coat , placed his bag in the study room and fetched him a glass of water. She sat back on the couple seat and watched as Alex gulped the water.
"How's your day?" she asked Alex.
Alex was startled before he hastily replied, "It's okay, everything is good."
Then he placed the glass on the side table and looked towards his wife. He tried to engaged her mood or anything that out of ordinary, but Luna still looked calm and composed as usual. Suddenly, he does not know how to break the news to her. The guilty was too much.
"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something light before I cook dinner? Or do you want to take a shower first?" Luna asked him.
She tried to break the suffocating silence that ensued in the room.
"No, it's okay. I guessed I'll take a shower first. I'll see you in the study room soon," he said before hastily stood up from the armchair.
Luna's eyes follows his movement until his shadow faded away.
She retracted her eyes before she stood up and strode into Lily's room to checked upon her. She stopped at the doorway and looked towards her daughter with complicated expression. She smiled indulgently when she realized Lily's peeked at her. She approached her bed before she sat down and hugging her daughter tightly. She wants to absorb the strength and comfort that she needed for the inevitable confrontation later.
"Will you be a good girl and stay here before I come back? Mommy had something to discuss with your dad in the study room for some time. Afterwards, I'll cook your dinner. Will you be alright here?" she softly asked Lily which the latter nodded again and again. She kissed her cheeks and forehead before walked out of the room.
She trudged towards the study room at the end of opposite side of their bedroom. She softly knocked once, before she pushed open the door. She saw Alex standing in front of the glass window with his back towards her. She walked in and took a seat on the L-shaped seaters at the left corner of the room. Alex turned back from the window and was startled when he saw Luna already seated. He did not realized when she had arrived. Guessed he was too deep in his thoughts.
"You're here," he said before he sat at the end of the sofa. Luna nodded.
"So...what do you want to discuss with me? Is there a problem in the company?"
She asked, acting oblivious.
'This is it.' Alex thought before he took a deep breath.
"I..I..I have a girlfriend," he blurted out while closing his eyes.
When he did not get any reactions from his wife, he slowly opened his eyes. But what he saw was Luna's unreadable expression. Then she gave him a blank look.
Alex did not know what he should do next. Any reactions were okay for him, but the lacked of reaction from his wife gives him a suffocated feeling. He felt there was a heavy loss inside his heart when she gave him the blank look. It's as if she did not care in the slightest that he had cheating on her.
"Did you ever loved me?" He thought out loud.
But Luna just kept mum. He felt scared with what answer would she give.
"I was supposed to asked you that question." That was her reply.
Alex felt ashamed and guilty. He fidgeted with his fingers, not knowing how to answer her without sounded too cruel. But he knew, whatever his answer would be, Luna was bound to be heartbroken.
